What about the NY race?

If the crazy fringe candidate won, they might have an argument. This doens't prove anything about a more "conservative" America.

wow

you mean someone unseated an unpopular governor with ties to Wall St during a recession largely exacerbated by his former firm who had to resort to name-calling his opponent "fat"?

no way.

Big Deal

NJ would elect Mickey Mouse if he promised to reduce their property taxes, let them keep their little 2 block towns with their own police, fire, and school districts, and of course we can't forget, keep making someone else pump their gas.

Maybe It Was Goldman Sachs

Maybe Corzine's loss was less about his being a Democrat than about his oft mentioned ties to Goldman Sachs and the huge amount of money he's spent to buy the offices he's been elected to? It was fine when everything was going well, not so much now that everyone is feeling the pain except for Goldman associates. If Obama and the Democrats don't do something to reform Wall St. soon, this could be the first of many Goldman pols and their backers to fall.

Hey stevewhatever your number is, New Jersey requires hiring guys to pump gas in order to help guys who need a job, o.k."

I love New Jersey for the fact they try to help guys who just need a job,any job. They make it a law that they have to have guys pumping gas so those guys can at least do that. That to me, is the beauty and wonder of New Jersey. Why this wonderful state elected a Republican for governor I have no idea. The last time they elected such, little Bush told her, "You're our crash test dummy, we throw you out of the plane to see what happpens." She went on to whine about what a drag it is to be a moderate Republican. Yeh my heart still bleeds over that one.

Congrats NJ! You have a thief for Governor!

And kind of a dumb one at that....

Chris Christie Quote:

"Starting tomorrow, we are going to pick Trenton up and turn it upside down."

I have a cartoon image of this guy turning someone upside down and holding them by the ankles and shaking them to get the change out of their pockets.

May he serve you well New Jersey!

Betty

That was easy, now the hard part

Congratulations Chris Christie for being the new governor of NJ. And now you actually get to run this f**ked up state. Good luck, fat f**k.

A chance for Obama to emulate FDR

If the President wants to truly follow in the footsteps of FDR he will use Corzine's defeat to clean up Wall Street. FDR chose Joseph Kennedy to head the SEC to bring order and regulation to Wall Street. Kennedy knew exactly how corrupt the Street was; that's how he became impossibly wealthy after his career as a bootlegger. Using the adage, "it takes a thief, to catch a thief" FDR picked the right man to bring Wall Street under control.

Will the President use the former head of Goldman Sachs to do the same thing? The opportunity is there, for him and the former Senator and soon-to-be former Governor. Nominate Jon Corzine as head of the SEC. Governor Corzine, you want to make history. Follow in the path of Joseph Kennedy.
