Burris won't run in 2010

The Illinois senator had little hope of being elected to a full term

"They can't make me quit!"

"I'll leave when *I* feel like it!"

He just stayed for the sake of his own ego.

He needs to fill up all the empty space remaining

on his self-made monument.

Long-term benefits?

I suppose, even having served for so short a time and under such a cloud, Burris will collect a Senatorial pension and have the same excellent lifetime health care as others in Congress.

Paid for with my tax dollars and yours.

Burris resigning or not??????

Burris knows "we know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time, on another scale, and actually make a difference for our priorities." Maybe he should consult with Governor Palin on how to handle his remaining 18 months in office.

Woo!

We can go back to having elected officials again!

Of course he's citing 'concerns for his legacy' as a reason to step down, rather than 'The people doin't want me here'. God forbid he's at least a little less than totally self-centered in his thinking about it.

State-wide and National (in)fam(e/y)

Don't forget that Burris's necropolis became an object of ridicule for national humorists and satirists and cartoonists when he did get appointed. The self-congratulatory and self-adulatory prose that Burris had on his tomb made him look like a buffoon and a tremendously unworthy successor to Obama.

Running for a state district seat and running for a state-wide seat are different matters, and Burris was damaged goods. He tainted himself, though. It is enough that his advisors or he know this. His next monument inscription may be "First African American to run the Chicago Sun-Times" or something.

TAINT?

How can you notice any TAINT when you are referring to the biggest TAINT in America, Congress?

Blagojevich and Burris are small fry compared to the real sleaze of both parties, the MSM and the corporatocracy.

Did Burris get us into Iraq?

Why do you ignore those who did?

Did Burris vote for the Bailout?

Why do you ignore those who did?

Anything to distract us from the greatest rip off of the century

My dear copywrite,

You have no problem with all the other sleazebags who enjoy the same benefits and fight tooth and nail to keep those same benefits from everyone else.

Civilized countries provide health care and provide pensions too.

Enjoy the barabrism and point your finger at Burris, scream and stamp your feet.

Meanwhile, we are all being robbed blind.

Any speculation on who Fuhrer Daley will appoint?

Oh wait, a mayor doesn't make all the political decisions in YOUR state? Wow, thats weird....

Oh Damn

This boy Burris is my kind of democrat, sorry to see him go.
