Fox News' Kilmeade: We "marry other species," Finns "pure"

The host compares Finland, Sweden's "pure society" to the U.S., where "we marry everybody"

Those pure Swedes...

...marry Americans, Italians, Iranians, Slovakians, Greeks, Ghanans, Thais, Turks and all sorts of humans. But, no, they probably don't marry other species, like cows or goats, which apparently they do wherever Kilmeade is from (probably down south somewhere close to the Appalachians... just kidding!) The last time Swedes purely married other Swedes was probably back in Viking time. But I forget, then they went and plundered and raped the Irish and English and so on, so mixed breeding was already going on then. It's always funny to me, as a Swede, when Americans make ignorant comments about Sweden. Based on some idea cemented fifty years ago or more. Like Sweden is a socialist country. Sweden is more capitalist than the US in many ways! That ol' welfare state is long gone. And not all Swedes are blondes either. Or sex fiends. Sorry to disappoint ya, folks.

What an Ass

Fake Newsknows how to hire thdm. They may as well wear their white hoods on screen. Because that is what you get from these guys. What an ass this Brian is. This is an educated man? There are homeless folks with more smarts than this buffoon.

That Was Pretty Bad

Yes it was!

I still don't know if it topped Glen Beck's guest the other night (as seen on KO's Worst Persons) who said the only hope for America was another massive attack by Osama Bin Laden that killed a bunch of people, while Glen just sat there nodding solemnly in agreement.

If these freaks on Fixed News had darker skin and non-American accents they would be in Gitmo undergoing "enhanced interrogation techniquies." Instead, they get their own "news" programs and 24/7 airtime to spread their own brand of terrorism.

I THINK I'VE GOT IT...

It's all now so obvious! These right-wingnuts must be marrying within their own "species". How else can you account for the seeming endless supply of people like Brian Kilmeade appearing on Faux News?

Would someone please check the marital records to confirm this hypothesis? I think I'm on to something.

Kilmeade will probably get promoted.

What a tool. I can't tell if he is a racist or just really, really stupid. Fortunately for Kilmeade,he works for Fox and he will probably get a prime time show for this kind of drivel.

@don_peyote

I don't know where to begin to explain why you're so wrong. I'll give it the ole' college try though:

The study was about how being married decreases chances of Alzheimer's. Got that? Being *married*! I'm not sure which species Brian Kilmeade was referring to, but if he was referring to the human species: as far as I know, we don't exchange genetic material when we get married- not amongst the spouses anyway. (There is a chance, I suppose, that Kilmeade was referring to his own species rather than human, which seems to be some especially stupid line of crash test dummies.)

Unless you want to make some cockamamie argument that only Swedes and Finns have evolved genes to fight off Alzheimer's... that are triggered only when they get married, your apologia for Kilmeade falls flat on its face.

Of course, the idea that inbreeding leads to genetic purity is also hogwash. Look up "Royal Disease" on wikipedia.

Maybe it's positive

Right? Maybe it really is positive that the Republicans are losing all the sensible people who used to help them not to say shit like this, leaving only strikingly uninformed racist dullards to bear the standard?

So many people actually believe things like this. It's amazing. Ideas like, black people commit more crimes because they're inherently criminal and violent, that kind of shit. It is amazing to me how alive that sort of soft racism is today.

In a technical sense

Kilmeade is actually correct. The scientific study relating to a particular gene pool and specific disease(s)amounts to essentially being a "controlled" study, less subject to aberations and more likely to provide a valid conclusion. It's not about increasing or decreasing the strength of a gene pool, it's about arriving at a reliable conclusion. I always work to avoid variability in research - the more control the better.

Perhaps not politically correct the way Kilmeade explained it, nonetheless, Kilmeade's point is correct.

Cats Out of the Bag: Brian is an Alien!!!

That's the other species he was talking about. They tend to put their foot in their mouth's a lot.

Brian(the Brain) put it in a very bad, racist way, but the idea that when people marry outside their "in group", there may be greater stress on the marriage, doesn't seem that unreasonable. When people marry someone from another culture, there are many things to adapt to(and others may not be happy about it). But to go from there, to the idea that people should stick to "their own", so they can have a marriage with a higher likelihood of success, doesn't fit with the modern Western idea that it's good for cultures to mix. Perhaps he has hit on the reality that in a rapidly changing society, having a good marriage is tougher proposition, than our ancestors had.

Regardless, the guys a boob and needs to go!

Small Georgia Towns -- run!! run!!

"Gee, I've been through some small towns in Georgia where they must have a REALLY pure society!"

About 15 years ago when my husband and I still lived in Atlanta, we tagged along with another couple to take a look at some lakefront property in east Georgia. For lack of a better choice, we stopped at a Waffle House (ubiquitous in the South and famous for its inedible food) for breakfast along the way.

As we were savoring our deep fried grease, I looked around and realized that we were almost the only four people in the place whose faces matched on both sides. It was a sea of crossed eyes, squints, puckered faces, broken noses and missing teeth. I suggested we eat up and hustle on out the door; those poor folks gave me the jimjams.

Goodness knows the four of us weren't movie star good lookers. But we were at least symmetrical and that alone made us kind of conspicuous.

Joke: (Q) What has six breasts and three teeth? (A) The night crew at a Waffle House.
