@Nathan Coker: Some Basic Demographic Facts About the US

First of all, factoring black males do not drop male life expectancy from 75.7 to 75.2. This might be true if the country you live in only has black and whites, but there are about 15-18% of the male population that are neither black nor white. The .5 year gap is indeed non-trivial, but you are wrong to think that the gap is entirely due to lower black male life expectancy. Secondly, since the original metric in question is total population, your use of male life expectancy is comparing camels to ungulates.

As for your claim your previous "tad lower" qualification exempts you from my snark, from the context it is reasonable to assume that you used it as a form of understatement ("more importantly"? Really?) even as you sought to explain away the poor life expectancies of the United States with this factoid, or that you resorted to a complete non sequitur even though you know it to be a non sequitur- if you know it doesn't make a difference in the aggregate then why bring it up in the first place?

"Jackson"

Does having "Jackson" as your last name somehow require you to be a nutcase?

Not trying to jump on you here as I understand the comedy point you were trying to make. As a fellow Kentuckian though, I have to stick up for the late Jim Varney, pride of Lexington Lafayette HS, who was as progressive as Ms. Jackson is pathetic.

Understand you didn't know about him, etc.

Okay, okay...

I picked on the poor Jim Varney, knowing nothing about him but that he was the "Hey Vern" guy who used to sell cars on the ads in LA in the 80s. And I also don't really know what the guy who played Dean Wormer on Animal House thinks either. And, since I'm in a confessing mood, I have no clue where Oscar the Grouch stands regarding the issues of the day.

I hang my head in shame...

she used to be intentionally funny

Now she's unintentionally hilarious.

Get her a TV show.

Well I guess looking at sketch comediennes for wisdom not such a good idea

almost, not quite, but almost as dumb as lambasting them for essentially being stupid, uninformed and crazy. like everyone else.

Where’s the public debate between scientists on “Climate Change/Global Warming?”

...and where's the public debate between scientists on electricity?

Where's the public debate between scientists on the flat earth?

Where's the public debate between scientists on gravity?

Where's the public debate between scientists on the hollow earth?

Where's the public debate between scientists on the Bermuda triangle?

Where's the public debate between scientists on phrenology?

I mean, the MSM is just keeping so much under wraps! All the debate that is simply squelched!

If only we had something like the Internet where public debate between reputable scientists could actually get out in the open!

I am not familiar with this nitwit

Can somebody tell me if this is her schtick, or is she *really* this whiny and dumb?

more than a glance at that

imbecilic text and my brain cells begin to wither.

Rightist health care haters....

You spend endless energy whining about "oh, healthcare is bad in the UK," or "whaaa, people die in Brazil," so we shouldn't do healthcare here.

Listen up dummies - we are not the UK. We are not Brazil. Just because THEY didn't do it right is no reason WE can't do it right. Just because YOU have a failed, bitter marriage doesn't mean MINE is. Just because you have an insane fat slob bloviator as your party leader doesn't mean OUR party leader can't be fit, educated, and rational.

You assholes are always projecting your own faults. The grownups are in charge now. Maybe it's time for you to sit down, shut up, and accept the fact that America has rejected your endless failures of the last decade.

@paulpsd7

I don't think VaJayJay punked Hannity - I think she totally believes herself. That said, my neighbor's dog could punk hannity, and it's half dead. Hannity can read his teleprompter, but other than that he's one of the dimmest bulbs on Fox's marquee.

Hey paulpsd7

If I'd known you had already been chastised about Mr. Varney, I wouldn't have piled on. Hadn't gotten that far in the thread before I let you have it. No hard feelings, I hope.

Soylent Green is people

Sounds like it's time for remake - at least Victoria and Dennis Miller would be gainfully employed.
