Always happy to see what the conventional wisdom is saying.
By conventional wisdom, I guess you are referring to Howard Fineman.
Why don't you actual pull out the big rolodex and actually call your conventional wisdom contacts...
instead of whatever it is your are pulling out of your ass and calling it reporting...
Why did you even bother to post another nonstory?
and having SBA, the contractor for the white elephant hockey rink, use materials paid for by Wasilla to build Todd & Sarah's $500,000 lakeside McMansion?
Sarah might have a second career playing a slutty Federal inmate in the up[coming reality show: Stone Bars Do Not A Prison Make . . . . the kids text it SBDNAPM
She's a classic Republican. They are not interested in governance; they are interested in power. Rather than accept the diminution of power concomitant with "lame duck" status (always presuming, of course, that "lame duck" is an accurate assessment of her status), she bailed. All she did was dump the problem into her vice's lap. Clearly she wasn't up to the job.
On the good news side, there probably aren't enough people in her base of rabid fanatics to actually launch her into a candidacy in 2012. We had 8 years of an ideologically blinkered fool who also couldn't string a coherent sentence together and whose idea of logic would drive Aristotle to drink. In an age when the United States can no longer wave its hand and have the rest of the world line up and say "Yes, Massa" a repetition would be disastrous.
She's obviously stepping down for the money. She could be making many times what she earns as Governor on the lecture circuit alone, never mind what she'd get as a talk radio host or a Fox television anchor. It's understandable why she'd quit, but totally irresponsible. Frightening how close she was to being President. On the bright side, I think she has destroyed any Presidential bid . . . EVER, and hopefully her stock will go way down.
They always expect a miracle if "God decides it's time" or something.
Maybe she's just getting out before the money dries up and the Alaskan economy and budget goes in the crapper.
which never forgave her for not being able to name a single publication when she assured Katie Couric she "read them all."
The thing is, if you can't take the heat from the press how can you be counted on to defend America when Putin "rears his head"? Candidates have to project strength in the face of adversity. McCain's campaign never recovered from his decision to cease campaigning and return to Washington to solve the impasse over the first bail-out. Palin's political career won't recover from this abrupt decision to resign the governorship with a vague pledge to work on behalf of Alaskans "in other ways."
The faithful at the "Team Sarah" site have managed to whip themselves up into a frenzy of delight over this. To a person, almost, they see this as the "beginning of the revolution" against the "tyranny" of the Obama administration and the sure sign that Palin has begun her campaign for the presidency in 2012. They are sure that what we are witnessing is a "brilliant" strategic move, and that those who follow her and trust her must accept that they are "like the proverbial puppy who understands the master's voice, but has not yet understood what the command is." They wait on tenterhooks for her to emerge as the "modern Joan of Arc, who will take the country back from the precipice of socialism!"
Talk about a nervous bunch...
I am neither and I think for myself, not jump to the conclusion someone else gave me. She explained it fully and simply. She wanted to be governor for a reason and it was not to be spending the states money on court proceedings caused by the left wing press, who don't have to answer for their false accusations. lIKE SHE SAID IF YOU ARE THE STAR BASKETBALL PLAYER AND YOU HAVE THE BALL, YOUR EYES ARE ON THE BASKET, AND THE TEAM IS WHAT COUNTS, SO IF THE OTHER TEAM HAS ALL THEIR MEN SURROUNDING YOU THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO PASS THE BALL TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO'S OPEN TO MAKE THE BASKET. Every accusation has been proven to be false so far, but the state has spent 2 million of their coffers and she has another 1/2 million of her own to pay.
She fully respects the LT governor and they are own the same page so she believes he would do a better job of accomplishing their goals, than she can under the circumstances. Sounds to me like a very selfless person. Until there is something substantial to prove her statements wrong why not give her the benefit of the doubt.
Besides that I believe she made her entire speech without a telepromter, more than I can say for some.
So people seem to agree that Palin needs more time to gain experience and to sound more presidential and that being Gov. won't allow her to do that for 2012.
But why the rush for 2012? Why not finish out the term, THEN go on the road and prepare for 2016 or 2020? Also, her kids will be older and require less time away from the campaign trail.
Do republicans really think that with their party weakened as it is that 2012 will be a good year to run, especially with someone like Obama to use the incumbent's position to his campaign advantage?
I still, like most, just don't get this.
She gathers up all that homespun moxy and ... runs as an Independent, splitting the chicken fried steak and Bud folk from the sirloin and single malt set, and handing Obama another term no matter how mad he makes liberals. It makes no sense, it would be disastrous for the GOP, in short: pure Palin.
McCain ruined Palin by putting her in the starting line-up when she needed a more time in the minors to hone her game. She may have never been much better, but if she had stayed down on the farm, she could have gained some more experience, bettered her skills.
One look at those bright lights, though, and AK is Dullsville. Petty ethics scandals don't give her an opportunity to rail against Obama. Can't hold her down in a backwater. She has bigger things to do. Like end the Republican Party.
