What was Sarah Palin thinking?

No one knows why the governor's resigning, or what she'll do next -- but her base likes the move

What Kind Of Question Is This?

She doesn't think.

Whatever becomes of her now will be up to the media.

"Let's see! She has the same or better qualifications as Obama. Obama left the Senate without completing his term."

Nope.

First of all, Obama resigned his senate seat AFTER he'd been elected president -- not 2+ years before.

Second, Palin's credentials pale next to Obama's, starting with educational achievements.

Could be she is resigning because...

As a speculation, it has been posited that Palin's resignation from political office is related to a "settlement" of one of those pesky ethics complaints. Perhaps it was either return the money given to the Alaska Fund Trust (with or without additional fines) or give up her job as governor to comply with existing regs. Again, this is just a speculation put out by the blogosphere (which seems to be doing the heavy lifting for the MSM).

WTF ?

Whose angry??

As I read this article and all the posts from Salon.com fans I am once again reminded of the weird, distorted view from which the Left views life. It must be hard to see the world this way. While I found Sarah's announcement a shock, more shocking was the way she was belittled and denigrated by liberal women. I thought you were for women, but obviously only liberal women. You don't have a clue that most average, middle america admires her greatly. She's like them. Oh wait, you do have a clue...that's why you dispise her so. Indeed, she speaks for them. Just because Sarah chose to have her latest child, which in your mind should have been "terminated," and because she doesn't sound like haughty, depressing Mareen Dowd with a cocktail (#3) in her hand, you find her loathsome. What a sorry crowd you are. As life rolls along, your bitterness will surely only increase, and consume you. It's a kick to watch women like Joan get on the air and fake a smile...it's hard work indeed for you people. Ok, here's my jaw, start snarling...throw your usual leftess slime jabs. Foul language and nasty sarcasm and elitist insults will only reveal all the more how hard it is for you folks to get out of bed and face the world. Better, the moderator can bar my posts from this blog. Isn't that what liberals do in the name of free speach, silence conservatives?

And yet another conservative child that was left behind.

Thank you, Dr. Phil, for knowing everything about all of us that are called liberals, my wife included. Why, due to your insight, I now know that Sarah Palin, a person who in my opinion needs your help a hell of a lot more than I do, represents me and a whole bunch of my friends. Thank you so much, Ms. Palin! It's such a shame that my kids are grown up -two with masters' and it didn't take them 6 years to get a Bachelors, the other a Marine vet and cop - or I'd let you give them all of your wisdom, so that they too could be as successful as you and your brood.

On a serious note, do you think that this woman represents ALL women ? She represents a very small portion of the women in this country, Sparky, those that aren't very bright. She was never bright enough to be on the national stage as she demonstrated during several of her interviews and looked like a dunce when she was being lobbed softballs by that paragon of journalistic integrity, Sean Hannity. And that was AFTER she had been schooled by McCain's people. Even they knew what a disaster she was.

@ kristinp

Kristinp,

You are correct about BO resigning after elected - but that's nothing to brag about - he ran the longest presidential campaign in history and ignored much of the nation's and Illinois' business during that campaign;

What's the difference whether you are an absentee senator or a resigning governor except that he continued to accept his senate paycheck.

Secondly, surprise me if you can by documenting two (2) things that will stand as BO credentials (not withstanding elections) that have had any lasting good effects as a community organizer, or legislation in Ill. or as a senator. (Don't use legislation since Jan 20, 2009 because its too new and as yet unproven)

Remember, Palin pushed through the natural gas pipeline legislation which is the largest public works project in US history.

elitist insults >>>>>

= all the words were spelled correctly.

@ edugal

You libs love to bash Sarah because you're AFRAID of her.>>>>>

Uh, no honey. We bash her because it's fun and easy and gets conservatives collective panties in a bunch, as was noted upthread. If conservatives didn't wig out at the thought that liberals don't much care for their heroine we'd get tired of the whole fish-barrel-shooting scenario and go on to mocking other funny things.

Look For Palin on Fox

She says that she has a "higher calling". That probably means a show on Fox which will bring her needed dollars and keep her in the political spotlight.

@smithstar15

I'm just glad that we men don't hate each other as badly as women hate other women-The earth would be a bloody battlefield in every corner of it-

Yeah, there'd be like, wars and crime and and prisons and dictators and terrorists and ethnic cleansing and stuff.

Good thing we don't have any of that, right?

Way to go, men, for not hating each other like women do.

Touche!

@ Villagejonesy

Usually, whenever anyone's pointed out the unintelligent things that Palin has spouted, Palin supporters have sprouted like mushrooms after a rain, piping up: "oh, she's ultra-smart!" "Intelligent!" "Amazingly intellectual!" "Yes sir! There is no-one on earth smarter than Sarah Palin. She is absolutely our day's Leonardo da Vinci. Look out, Academia! She's so smart that no professor can even grade her. Yes indeed! Smart, smart, smart."

It serves only to indicate the intelligence of those thus praising her.

Relatively speaking, of course.

@ Old Joe

Have you slapped John McCain silly for accepting his senate paycheck during the campaign?
