Sanford's office: "Governor has no plans to step aside"

So far, the calls for the South Carolina governor to resign don't seem to be working

One Can Only Change When . . .

One can only change when they admit they have a problem. Look at Geraldo. Took him years before he realized he had a problem and Geraldo didn't hide behind King David being a man after God when David hor'd after his generals wife and had him murdered so he could have the adulterous wife. So God said, "King David is a man after my own heart." Well that's what all these hor'ing Republican so-called Christians quote every dang time. Even Sanford tried, lamely, to site that quote as a defense. Sick, sick. And Sanfords blood flows in the vains of his sons and Jenny needs to get a grip and pull a Daniel and bring her sons out of the furnace and leave the father right where he took himself, in the furnance. Do you get my drift.

How bad must South Carolina be...

If, given a choice, not even the governor will spend the 4th of July weekend there.

Have they fitted him with an Electronic Anklet?

I mean seriously, letting this guy leave the state of South Carolina is risky. If he's slipped the leash once, who says he won't try again?

Unless of course, they're hoping he conveniently gets lost...

Being a Republican means you never have to say you're sorry, I guess. And that you never have to stop wagging a sententious finger at OTHER people's morals.

I hope he sinks what's left of the Republican Party Right Wing Virtue Squad. Being lectured by these people is really too much.

All the vacations

It must not be hard to run the governorship of SC if he can take off to wherever for days at a time over and over.

Maybe public service really is the cushy job we've all griped about.

As for the trust issue, well, I trust he will fuck up again.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 12:19 PM

Does anyone else think this guy goes on an awful lot of vacations?

I don't really care about his love affair, but what's with the constant jetting around, with or without the rest of his family?

Thursday, July 2, 2009 12:10 PM

Just replace him next time he makes an unannouced "vacation."

By the next time he gets back from his unannounced trip without telling anyone where he's going, y'all should already replace him with someone else. Tell him you thought he was dead or had gone insane, since no responsible or capable leader of state government would ever go AWOL without at least giving his staff an idea of where he was going and when he'll be back.

Then put the burden of proof on his ability to hold office on him.

Dona and done.

p.s. couldn't give less of a shit about his affair.

Stay Put

Terrific news that he is staying. Can't wait for his next news conference. He's just as funny as anyone on Comedy Central or SNL.

I make

the over under at 4 weeks.

Never leave

and never shut up

This is perfect, a self righteous rightist boob continues his hypocritical course and does (hopefully) much damage to his party and cause.

Even deep red nascar country can't be stupid enough to stomach this guy..

Can they?

Planning is helpful

Then you're prepared for things that aren't your decision as well.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 11:36 AM

Does he have plans to

shut up about his sex life perhaps or insult his legal wife just one more time in the press?

Thursday, July 2, 2009 11:25 AM

I don't think...

18 months is long enough to repair the damage he has done.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 11:21 AM

So he rebuilds trust how?

I don't get it. How does staying in office rebuild the trust of the South Carolina residents? My thinking is that once a cheat, always a cheat. Anything else is just ego, arrogance, or ignorance.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 11:14 AM

Step aside?

This man is stubborn and thinks he is on the righteous side. He will never resign willingly. Remember the stimulus? He never relented. Frankly, I think he is mentally ill.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 11:12 AM

Why should he?

He's a Republican so, obviously, he has no shame.
