Palin's e-mail battle with McCain camp

An article in Salon about the campaign's ties to the Alaska Independence Party set off a nasty exchange

Altogether, everybody

SO GLAD McCain didn't win.

Go Salon!

Dear Salon,

Please keep working on the Palin/AIP story.

Even if the "first dude" was not a card carrying member it would still be a big story that Sarah Palin was "palling around" with people that hate America. She has been linked to the group and their head honchos for ever. The anti-USA rhetoric that comes out of the leaders of this group (some of her political mentors) make Reverend Wright look like a piker.

when will politicians understand the internet?

I found the Alaska registration form in two seconds

Political Affiliation (Select only ONE) – For

information on political types see reverse No. 5.

Political Parties:

􀂉 Alaska Democratic Party

􀂉 Alaska Libertarian Party

􀂉 Alaska Republican Party

􀂉 Alaskan Independence Party

Political Groups:

􀂉 Green Party of Alaska

􀂉 Republican Moderate Party

􀂉 Veterans Party of Alaska

Other:

􀂉 Nonpartisan (no party affiliation)

􀂉 Undeclared (no party declared)

http://www.elections.alaska.gov/forms/c03.pdf

We use "independent" a lot when the official term is usually "unaffiliated" or "undeclared". It looks like the Alaska registration form splits those options out from the parties pretty clearly.

Oh, how I hope....

That she is the Republican nominee in 2012. I can only imagine the implosion! Maybe it will be enough to finally consign the modern Republican Party to history's dustbin once and for all.

My favorite quote from the article was

from Schmidt was :

Reached on his cell phone on Wednesday, Schmidt declined to comment on the e-mail exchange. "I was proud to work for the McCain-Palin ticket," he said. "We did our best in an extraordinarily difficult year. I wish that all this stuff could all be left in the past where it belongs because Barack Obama won the election and he's President of the United States. It's all over, it's in the past."

You could have fooled me- with all the airtime and TEEVEE exposure from Mcain and Palin you would think they are still campaigning. Why oh why Steve won't they STFU and go away.

Todd's Stupid?

Or maybe all her concern about it, points to the opposite. That Todd was really into the sessession movement, until his wife started doing well in politics. How can she sleep with an America-Hater? Once an America-Hater, always and America-Hater!

Totally unimportant

and yet sinfully delicious. Palin has always had a severe aversion to the truth. At the very least, she is one of those delightful individuals who manufactures "truth" to suit her needs, and then applies all of her will to "believing" the truth she has created. It is always sad to see people like this who are so dismissive of everyone else that they fail to realize that their stories can be easily checked and refuted. ("Don't worry honey, no one will ever check to see how long you were a member/if we knew the party platform/how clear the registration was/if we ever attended conventions!")

Duh.

I have to say, it is sort of entertaining to see the responses of the other fellow in the the email. Sure, he is a political operative, but he was obviously on his toes and doing his homework. You have to feel for him a bit, dealing someone with that level of narcissism and self-delusion. However, I do not feel enough empathy to wish that he had succeeded in foisting her on America for the next four years.

Two Questions

Why do the Palins hate America? And who leaked these e-mails to CBS?

Thursday, July 2, 2009 08:52 AM

Aaaahhhhhh Sarah Palin. Keep digging baby. Keep digging. Dig Baby, Dig!

Loved you in Who's Nailin Palin. What an idiot she is. Somehow she got the notion that she knows more than anybody else, but look into anything she says and she is completely full of shit. She is a laughing stock and the republicans love her. I finally met someone this week who really likes her here in Virginia. This person is about to go into rehab and is on welfare and foodstamps. She has had her children taken away from her and will not be swayed by anything I say. Of course she doesn't vote, can't be bothered. That's today's republican for you. Dig Baby, Dig. What fun 2012 will be if the republicans nominate her. Please please please. The Wasilla Hillbillies are comin to town. Yeeeeeeee Haawwww!

Hello Sarah. This is God.

I hate you because you didn't get an abortion.

Not a Joke

Sarah Palin is an object of derision for many but this article points to what is so attractive about her to many Americans: she offers solutions to problems based on a manufactured reality that many Americans don't have the time, skill, or desire to debunk. Drill here, drill now - her energy policy - is the perfect policy for American know-littles and know-nothings who can't do the math that shows that if we could get all US oil out of the ground at the rate necessary to replace imports, domestic supplies will be gone in 4 years. But, her policy makes sense for those who believe environmentalists prevented the construciton of refineries; for those who believe that oil in 10,000 feet of water is cheap to recover; and for those who believe the US has plenty of oil. She has no problem letting the misconceptions of others endure; in this she is like GWB. Most honest people, if they found their statements were misleading huge sections of the population (Saddam and Al Qaeda) would do something to correct the record. She would not. She is the perfect candidate for know-littles and know-nothings, and if it takes a while for the economy to right itself, she will appear with a nasty populist program that addresses problems in simple terms for the know nothings that is based in a false reality. We know she does this already. We need to be extremely careful here. I don't think these is much that can be done about this. The times could be perfect in 2012 for a know-nothing demagogue like Palin.

What about the video?

Did Palin forget that she actually produced a video of her welcoming the AIP to their 2008 convention?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI

Does Sarah understand the term "cognitive dissonance"?

Thursday, July 2, 2009 09:05 AM

Sarah is a rock star just like O'Bama but she won't

shovel money to ACORN to get her elected and doesn't nned to.

Where is readerboy?

I can't wait to read his delusional explanation of how this proves the Palin is a great leader, and about how this demonstrates that she is "back."
