Conservative group: Obama equals Ahmadinejad

In a new ad, a right-wing PAC draws comparisons between the U.S. government and Iran's, as well as the Nazis

Not many outlets will run the ad...

But Foxnews will run it at least a dozen times a day, for at least the next week.

All in the interst of "fair and balanced" reporting on the controversy, of course.

Pigcat

Democrats compared Bush to Hitler? Who? When? Please, name one, one prominant or even credible Democrat who compared Bush to Hitler? I'm not talking about fruitcakes on the internet, or random rogue bloggers. I'd really like to know who in the Democratic party compared Bush to Hitler.

Bush was soundly criticized for lying us into war. And if other progressives are intellectually honest, they will criticize Obama for pursuing Bush's corrupt and corrosive policies. But comparing a duly elected leader to one of the most malevolent, vile people in history is pretty much the province of Republicans. And wingnuts like the ones who made the ad that prompted this piece. Stop feeding into the false equivalency culture.

opie

I hate to break it to you, but this weird little snippet of propaganda was totally and completely of the right, by the right, and for the right, and it was aimed at the smallest minds out there... people exactly like you. Only it seems like they overestimated your "intellect."

What a maroon

America deserves the Republican party -

and it deserves all the 'tea party' people and 'gun totin'' people and the rest of the right wing nuts. American media and just plain voters have done absolutely nothing to deter such people, wringing their hands and bleating about about their 1st amendment rights. Americans will have no rights left after you weak kneed Democrats and Independents [aka fence sitters] let the bloody Republicans in next year and 2012. You finally got a President to be proud of and YOU blithering idiots do not stand up for him. At least those idiotic 'tea bag' folks stand up for something. But Democrats will sit on their asses and fritter away the best thing has happened in a long time for your country. The rest of the world worries about the safety of Pres Obama but you Dems fence sitters just let these Republican air-heads and thugs get away with their filthy words and threats. YOU SHOULD FEEL SO DAMN ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.

liberal propoganda is too much

The constant propoganda from the liberal groups is very eerie and weird.. its what you'd expect from dictators - brainwashing the people, constantly pushing their agenda.

This is Obamaworld.

timely reminder, maybe...

once in a (long) while it may be important to show us this kind of utter banality and crap; it's easy to forget just how vile and crazy the Right really is. When we get rightfully upset at Obama's fudging principles in civil liberties, we need at the same time to hold firmly in mind what the "opposition" is capable of if they ever regain power.

Our Country

Deserves better bullshit than that. Creativity is great, but get a hold of yourselves, guys!

I can guarantee no station will air it...

Unless they want to get sued by ACORN for liable. The Hitler reference isn't doing them any favors either. I think this thing was made so it wouldn't air.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 06:19 PM

You say that like it's bad

Most of Salon would be praying (If God existed which she doesn't) for the day that the US is 10% as liberal and free as Iran.

Where do I send money that will fund efforts against these loonies?

Please give me the address. I have checkbook and pen in hand.

selective memories... again!

I seem to recall not too long ago how the Republicans became so indignant when Bush was compared to Hitler after he invaded Poland. Er, I mean, Iraq. And they were so upset with the Democrats for comparing Bush to Hitler after it was determined he ignored the Geneva Conventions and allowed the torture of prisoners and innocent people being taken captive with no explanation or legal recourse. And they got self-righteous when Bush began spying on his fellow citizens all in the name of national security, just as the Nazis did.

When Obama invades Canada, then I'll compare him to Hitler. But until then, the sore loser Republicans can just continue to make themselves look foolish.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 03:59 PM

Why even...

...Post this if as you say "...it's doubtful that there'll be many stations that will be willing to air it, if any."? Why give this garbage anymore of a voice than it already has?

Thursday, July 2, 2009 03:58 PM

you know the really scary part?

I hear Obama has already weaponized our enriched uranium.

Really.

I'm beginning to think Obama may be pursuing a global position of strategic military invulnerability for the United States. I mean, that guy Gates certainly wants that, and Obama kept him in there.

I think he's making an obvious play for the loyalty of the U.S. Military Establishment.

Then what might they do?

Thursday, July 2, 2009 03:52 PM

Wingnuts on parade.

Do these clowns really think they will make any gains in political power by, as my friends in North Carolina would say, showing their asses?

At least before the republicans disintegrated into a party of strictly right wing lunatics they were somewhat successful at hiding who they truly were to the public at large by using code words for their nuttier ideas, but no more.

Let the crazy pour forth and (most) people will react with horror or laughter.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 03:44 PM

Wow...

The ad so well ignores that Bush started the bailouts and that neither Hitler nor Ahmadinejad are socialsts. Plus ACORN wasn't found guilty of anything (or, you know, TRIED for anything).

Did Sean Hannity write the article? It seems to follow his complete disconnect from reality.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 03:30 PM

@Stinky

These wingnuts have much in common with you. Like you, they spend their time thinking about birth certificates.

Thursday, July 2, 2009 03:04 PM

So, how much did they pay you for the plug?

What, are you their PR director?
