The only way to defend America: Kill a bunch of us

Former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer and Glenn Beck suggest only Osama bin Laden can save us from ourselves

We had to kill them....

... to save them.

Yeah.... we've heard this before.

9/11 certainly had a way of unifying Democrats and Republicans

Don't know why another attack would be too much different, besides a lot of "we told ya so" from those calling for waterboarding and keeping Guantanomo open.

Now if you disagree with him, fine. But there is nothing "treasonous" about this, as the video title says.

world leader

So to hold our place as a peaceful world leader that other countries look up to as an example of a shining beacon of hope, we must be much more violent than we are now. Sure, makes perfect sense.

They get misty-eyed thinking of that day

...the way former hippies get that way over Woodstock.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 02:31 PM

Huh,

You can't really put him on either side of the political divide.

I dunno, but I think we can say, based on this

The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.

which side of the sanity divide he's on (and to think, I didn't even have to say stuff like "emphasis mine," so wild is the statement).

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 02:33 PM

Where's my tar?

It's indicative of the utterly bereft state of the American electorate and how completely apathetic and unengaged we are in our own democracy that we still tolerate garbage like this after eight years of blind, hostile, adolescent leadership. If we were truly engaged in the fate of our nation, we would tar and feather idiots like this.

Political divideS

There are political divides other than left and right. Pragmatic and ideological. Selfish and generous.

Insane and sane. Yeah, that's the one.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 02:35 PM

I recognize the type

You can't really put him on either side of the political divide.

Real Fascists are slippery like that. Neither left nor right, they are committed to only one cause: their own righteousness.

It really is amazing the glee that's in his eyes when he dreams of killing Americans. This is what becomes of empire building, I guess.

treasonous

Now if you disagree with him, fine. But there is nothing "treasonous" about this, as the video title says.

Did you actually listen to what he said? He overtly calling on Osama bin Laden to attack the U.S. again.

The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 02:40 PM

If I were him that'd be the last thing I'd do right now

Beck says this as if he's disappointed. We need another attack so our government will "do the right thing" but OBL won't attack because then our government would "do the right thing". Doesn't that mean our government IS actually protecting us....or is that too much thought for Beck and his bizzaro world?

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 02:49 PM

Why doesn't Scheuer just come out and say it

He wants to nuke northern Pakistan

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 02:50 PM

Oh the logic

<<The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.>>

Yes, we need OBL to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the US so our government will get serious about protecting us from OBL deploying and detonating a major weapon in the US. Just excellent.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 02:50 PM

Before this January

Prior to this January, the lack of attack indicated that we were being protected, even if it meant breaking laws, justifying torture, and ignoring habeas corpus to do so. Now the only way we are going to be protected is if we get attacked?

In a perfect world...

Glenn Beck is the most brilliant performance artist who has ever lived.

Crazy rays reinforce each other

I can imagine these two guys' crazy-rays resonating together to gargantuan levels of nuttiness. And just think, if they had brought in Mark Levin... it might have created a standing wave of Wingnut Radiation that could actually heat the troposphere to nuclear temperatures. And they'd still deny it was happening (or blame it on the Iranians!).

It Worked The First Time

'nuff said!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 03:10 PM

We had to kill them....

Ok, can we start with the neocons first, then the anti-intellectuals, continue to the current crop of Rethugnikans, ooh let us not forget the Christian zealots, and then proceed to the bought & paid for dems! Does that list about cover it?

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 03:12 PM

What's all this "Protect" about???

Odds are the average American wakes up in the morning worried about whether they will have a job for much longer, whether they can meet the mortgage payment, or whether their health plan will actually cover an illness in the family. I doubt many wake up worried that some Terrorist will bump them off. So what's the deal here? Why is it that these guys feel that our No. 1 Problem is that we aren't being "protected effectively, consistently, and with as much violence as necessary"? Are The Terrorists the only thing that can make these guys feel like Alpha Macho Men? (by proxy, of course, since it is The Troops that do the actual fighting.)

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 03:21 PM

I would put

him in the "crazy" section of the aisle. A guy you want when your side is under attack I guess, but otherwise way too unstable to have around.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 03:26 PM

Why not?

Call them honorary Jews. Then saloniks will will slathering for their blood. Kill them all.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 03:34 PM

He is declaring war on America

By saying the only solution is to kill the president and democratic members of congress he is encouraging a revolution against our nation. He is saying a military over throw of our government is the only way to return to a government he approves of. Challenging the current elected leaders at the ballot box is no longer an option in his mind. Military coupe is the only answer. I can't believe what I'm hearing.

Pogo principle

This is the embodiment of the Pogo principle to the max. We have seen the enemy and the enemy is us.

This guy is weird, I have seen him on several shows including "60 Minutes." He calls Osama "Usama" and has been mad at Bill Clinton for years for not nuking bin Ladin. Nuclear winter be damned, this guy wants to turn the middle east to glass.

Sometimes I believe those like Scheuer and Beck have a weird death fetish wish for any American city they aren't in. They themselves wouldn't do any actual acts of live terrorism, but they would get on some kind of happy train and say "See I told you so!" It really isn't about politics anymore, it is about them getting their jollys by watching bombs go boom in American cities to prove they are right. Then they would be FAMOUS, FAMOUS, for predicting it.

Sick, sick, sick.
