He has stood up for democracy in his statements, several times now. However, what is clear (and this makes me even more glad that he's our president) is that to a republican, "stand up" means "bomb the crap out of someone." You know, the whole philosophy where the only tool you have is a hammer, so every problem looks like a nail.
