Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

He should just say, what are you complaining about, we're acting just like you.

Thursday, June 18, 2009 03:57 PM

Ouch.

That's gotta hurt.

Cheney Must Have Called Bush

and told him that he better say something or would soon be getting measured for his own presidential orange jumpsuit.

Fortunately, Bush opening his mouth is the worst possible action he could take.

To take it further

The past 8 years have been a war of ideas. Ultimately, the republicans were utterly defeated. Following republican policy ideas should be considered right after we consider restoring British rule of America and re-establishing the Confederacy as an independent nation.

Bush

I am deeply touched by former President Bush and his concerns over an exploding federal budget deficit.

However, since the Bush administration inherited 3 years of budget surpluses when they came in, including a 236 billion dollar surplus from the previous fiscal year and proceeeded immediately to give their rich friends a tax cut, because the rich were so oppressed under the Clinton administration, this is croccodile tears.

It is acceptable to cause deficts by giving rich undeserving people a tax cut, but you can't run deficits to help ordinary people.

President Obama would not have tha ability to increase the deficit if it weren't for the policies of the Bush Administration that caused them in the first place.

We hardly heard a whimper out of the Republican Party when Bush decided to go into deficit spending.

gibbs..

forgot to say "nyah, nyah" at the end.

Be Careful, Gibbs

Memories are real short. Before long, as Obama takes us headlong into auto ownership, financial supervision, health care management, etc etc -- with astronomical budget deficits and anemic recovery -- no one will even remember who Bush is. So you won the election, wise guy! Now you're in the process of throwing away your victory. At the rate things are going, and the Republicans find their voice and their spokesman, and Bush is ancient history, they will be back. No way are the American people going to put up with the Obama agenda once they see it for what it really is.

Thursday, June 18, 2009 04:56 PM

Well, it's about time.

Now, can Obama PLEASE act like he won? The Republicans will be back in 4 to 8 years. Please can he do something decisive now? After all, it's a short time to be here and a long time to be gone...

apologies to JG...

Somebody once said...

...when you win an election you get "political capital" that you can then "intend to spend".

Who was that again...slips my mind at the moment. Oh well, I'm sure someone will remind me.

Gibbs is a jerk. And he's going to eat his words...

I don't entirely disagree with MC.

BTW: I eat dog shit on occasion. Is that so wrong?

We Won?

We won Mr. Gibbs?

But did American win?

Thursday, June 18, 2009 10:39 PM

@ohiopolitico

You know, I've waited 8 years to experience the sour grapes and delusion that you expressed in that last post. Thank you for that. It is extremely gratifying.

This sparks my curiosity

At the rate things are going, and the Republicans find their voice and their spokesman, and Bush is ancient history, they will be back.

What would that voice and spokesman say that the American people would fall for at this point? Options include:

  • "This time, we're gonna blow up a bunch of brown people, but it won't last so long."
  • "Time time, we're gonna trash the Constitution, but not let anyone else know."
  • "Our new republicans aren't quite as embarrassing to listen to as Bush was!"
  • "You think the economy is bad now, just wait until we get another crack at it!!"
  • "The Republican Party: It's not just for idiots anymore."

Seriously, I'm having a hard time imagining what the come-on would be for republicans in the future. Anyone...?

What's Wrong, Drudge Report Site Offline?

@Old Joe, @ohiopolitico, @kzzbj1, @Mickey Kovars et al:

Waaaaaaaaaah! Yes, the country won. No, Chocolate Jesus didn't pull out his magic wand and fix everything that took so many years to break; no, the repairs aren't happening overnight; no, they aren't going happen without the government taking a firmer and less-permissive hand with the banks and insurance companies than it has for the last 20 years, including a degree of government ownership of the financial institutions; yes, the affluent are going to have to bear more of the tax burden; yes, the GOP is going to have to continue to eat at least as much shit as they shovelled with falsely-assumed impunity over the last 8 years.

You guys need to study a little US history and read about the New Deal and how FDR got us out of the Depression, the ensuing federal banking regulations that lasted up until about 30 years ago (the peak of US prosperity and the last time the top wages were within 500 times of the bottom wages) and the tax increase during the republican Eisenhower Administration (90% income tax on the wealthy) . The only real hindrance to recovery at this point is the fact that the President's not taking as hard a line with the banks as FDR did and with the insurance companies as he's going to need to. But fear not, douchebags, it's going to happen, you and your bogus fear and outrage will have the Mother Of All Field Days at the "ultimate socialization of America" and FOX News will make a series of special reports (again) about "The End Times" culminating with Glenn Beck tearfully blowing his brains out on live television . Mission Accomplished, y'all!

In U.S. Politics Winning is simply temporary.

Mr. Gibbs and the Obama administration is acting like by winning the most current election that thats it.... game over, no more elections allowed, no more opposition speech allowed. That's one of the great things about where we live.... debate is NEVER over.... there is another election just around the corner and Obama's arrogance will catch up with him.

Friday, June 19, 2009 12:06 PM

Then act like it!

Perhaps everyone in the Obama adminstration should adopt this phrase ("we won!") as a mantra and repeat it over and over again every morning before the staff meetings begin.

Right now, as far as leadership goes, they are acting like a bunch of wusses. They don't seem to comprehend that some low types (and there are more then a few in Washington) see stretching out a hand as a sign of weakness. Where's tough guy Rahm Emanual on all this? This non-leadership is not what I voted for..nor is it what I was promised during the campaign.
