The former senator offers dating advice to President Obama

The letters thread is now closed.

Has he considered....

That this is the "once in a while" when he "does something special?"

What is the point of this, Rick? Was it just so you could say negative things about black people?

Dear Abby He Ain't

Exactly what does this horse-faced punter with the goofiest-looking brood in America have to offer anyone?

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:02 AM

Dog bites man.

"Conservative" flaps jaws about things he does not understand and which are not his business. World yawns. Not news.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:02 AM

What?

Because flying to Crawford, Texas, every other weekend and taking the longest vacations of any President in history was not self-indulgent?

Only Fox would put on this bad joke of a politician who fails to understand that 3/4 and 75% are the same,

He deserves the association that Doc Savage gave his name.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:06 AM

Where's...

all the wall to wall coverage of the soldier killed by a terrorist in Arkansas?

Surely he deserves the attention tiller has received.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:07 AM

Santorum

Santorum is a MORON.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:14 AM

@farragut

Where's the wall to wall news coverage on Fox News of the dozens of school children murdered in Chicago this past year? Conservatives are such champions of the sancity of life, you'd think it would gain some attention on their part.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:14 AM

Question

I despise Santorum as much as the next guy, and I'm uncomfortable with the idea of him commenting at all on any problem within the African-American community (talk about a bridge too far). But if these comments were made by someone who wasn't a right wing idealogue would they still be objectionable?

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:18 AM

"It's special."

Oh yes it is, and so much more, little Ricky. Getting unsolicited marital advice from someone with a bestiality obsession who sees it as their mission to codify discrimination against a good chunk of the population based on his superstition? Special doesn't begin to describe it.

Republicans have been doing their best to make hay out of the cost of the trip

Watching Stewart recap the Outrageā„¢ over the cost, all I could keep thinking was how much did Codpiece Day cost us, and at least no one got killed so this President could get his rocks off.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:21 AM

@ Nate K

I'm not opposed to anyone commenting on problems in the black community, but this paternalistic bullshit would be objectionable from anyone. Including well-intentioned liberals, who aren't completely immune to this kind of nonsense.

Muslim terrorist kills a soldier on US ground and you don't think it requires the same coverage as tiller.

not a surprise. I'm guessing another dead soldier works for you.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:26 AM

Conservatives

are only concerned about the "sanctity" of life up till the moment the kid is actually born, After that, tough titties baby, especailly if you happen to be black or brown or some mix other than white and pinkish. And if you are a member of the military and don't mind giving your limbs and lives for a misbegotten war to keep the ex VP and his minions and toadies in billions, well, too bad.

Get a life, Santorum. Better yet, get a date. Pay for one if necessary.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:26 AM

Doctor of Love

Dr. Santorum,

My boyfriend's been exhibiting unusual symtoms. Can you tell me what it means when he has a frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex up his butt?

Maybe it was the dog.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:27 AM

@farragut

And clearly you don't think American school children murdered on American soil is worthy of attention. I'm not suprised.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:28 AM

Mind Your Own Business

I guess that once you have done it often enough, you don't even realize how much of a hypocrite you are. Like Mr. Santorum spends all his time at the local bar with his wife. Come on! Most guys who do that on a regular basis aren't married for long. Women liked to be impressed. I'm betting that most of these talking heads who are complaining about Obama's date, were at the same restaurant with their mistress the week before. These guys are really scrapping the barrel. Almost sad to see how far the GOP has fallen...almost! Lol

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:33 AM

Santorum's idea of a groovy "date"

is bringing the body of his dead still born child home for the other kids to play with.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:35 AM

now we know

Rick Santorum is a cheap date. A shot and beer. Whatta guy.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:38 AM

Two Unrelated Points

First, I'm not sure how "special" my wife would think a night at the corner bar doing boilermakers would be. Maybe Santorum's old lady's a bit more down with that, but I doubt it.

Second, to the idiots who have hijacked this article to rant about the "muslim terrorist" that shot up a US recruiting office, killing a soldier: please note that this "muslim terrorist" seems to be a deluded young man from Memphis, TN and that he was not, apparently, inspired by anything near the Who's Who of the American Conservative Movement that informed the equally deluded seperatist that killed Tiller.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009 11:39 AM

4 articles on Tiller's and not one on William Long the murdered recruiter? Is tiller some martyr?

"Muslim terrorist kills a soldier on US ground and you don't think it requires the same coverage as tiller.

not a surprise. I'm guessing another dead soldier works for you."

Now now, don't go identifying the suspect as being a Muslim, otherwise the Salon-niks will brand you a racist. Just like Santorum quoting a factual statistic makes him a racist.

Salon was good when Bush was in office as a critical examiner of what was a regrettable last 8 years. Now, pot meet kettle salon, what the right news outlets did during those 8 years in nitpicking what the left said is what Salon is doing now with the right and ignoring important stories like William Long being murdered. Way to add fuel to the fire to the Republicans claims that the Democrats and the left hate American and the troops.

It's disappointing Salon has made no commentary on the military recruiter being killed (outside the wires) especially in lieu of religious and political motivations, yet has the time to glorify an abortion doctor (I'm pro-choice, but I'm not making a martyr out of this guy like Salon is) and nitpick some rightwing douchebag. There's 3+ articles (you know it's all the rage amongst the cackling hens in "broadsheet," maybe one will crack [read abort] an egg to celebrate...ha ha) on Tiller and not one on William Long...pathetic.

Golly...

Does anybody else feel a little bad for Santorum's wife?
