leSs guilty about enjoying it

At least I'm not the only one having fun watching the right self-destruct over Sotomayor. I felt a bit guilty because all the bald-faced racism should be offensive. It was for a while, but it became fun as I realized that not only were the racists revealing their true prejudices, but they weren't going to win.

Click on the link for "leading Republicans" and it is a link to Rush Limbaugh. I thought that "leading Republicans" might have meant people like Jeff Sessions and Mitch McConnell.

Also, you can laugh about Manny Miranda if you want. But if Ralph Neas had a plan for scuttling the nomination of a Republican nominee, and 41 Senate votes, or 40 votes in a 98- or 97-vote Senate, I don't think I'd be laughing.

I expect that you'll be pissed off at Manny Miranda for a very long time.

Since he was so instrumental in the story about the egregious content of the Democratic Staff memos in the Judiciary Committee, that revealed just how craven the Dems were in filibustering Miguel Estrada, among other outrages.

I don't think Manny Miranda is so disgraced, or so "out" of Republican circles. He resigned, but I'm not sure in how much "disgrace," on the Republican side. He got the goods on the Dems. As I understand it, he got Durbin and Schumer and Leahy so mad that they just about flipped out. That has got to be a good thing.

No Lube Needed.

Just shove it down their throats.

Huh?

"She has a temper... [s]he has an attitude. She could come across as hubristic in the hearings, as arrogant."

Got Scalia?

@Elephantman

Most Republicans don't recognize disgrace any more than they do shame or bigotry. I'm sure Mr. Miranda still buys his own PR, and with the state of the Democrats he'll always have a job.

not that any of this has a chance of happening...

but I'm hoping the Thugs do manage to block Sotomayor. Don't get me wrong, she's apparently a more competent, better choice than anyone a Republican Prez has nominated to the Bench in the last 50 years.

The trouble is, Obama's too conservative and she's too conservative. This country needs some balance to the ("Conservative") judicial activism that's been perpetrated by the GOPs on the Bench. The SCOTUS doesn't reflect the values of this country nor reflects the temperament necessary to be the legal keel American (and the world) needs to weather these perilous times.

Gotta agree with elephantman,

Miranda is just the type of guy the Repubs are embracing these days.

Empty Spaces

No nominee Obama puts forth will be acceptable to the Republicans. Quite the contrast with the Alito and Roberts nominations, eh? We'll see how it goes, but I don't expect a fair hearing of Sotomayor, regardless of her record.

I remember the Republican stonewalling of Clinton-era judicial appointments, leaving many crucial seats open until their man, George II, could be appointed President by the Supreme Court. While it would be a little egregious for the Republicans to fully stonewall all Obama judicial appointments, I don't put anything past them, even as a minority party.

The question is whether Harry "Fifth Column" Reid will continue to allow the Republican minority to call the tune on confirmation hearings.

The Heritage Foundation?

Say no more. What a bunch of R-tards.

@zepgirl

My thoughts exactly!

Leading Republican = Limbaugh

Tell me this Elephantman: Who is it easier for a fellow Republican to criticize (and not have to apologize to) these days?? Limbaugh? Nooooo, he's the only "leading Republican" whose ring must be kissed. You're dreamin' if you think he can't be referred to as a leading Republican.

Sotomayor

I heard that she is very judgemental.

Do we really want that in a judge?
