Sotomayor would be the 6th Catholic on the 9 member Supreme Court.
You can't choose your age, race, gender, or sexual orientation but you can choose what religion you are.
These justices made a conscious decision to belong to an organization that systematically abused and raped thousands of children in Ireland.
These justices made a conscious decision to belong to an organization that actively campaigns to take away other people's rights.
These justices made a conscious decision to belong to an organization whose leader said (AIDS) "is a tragedy that cannot be overcome by money alone, and that cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems".
These justices made a conscious decision to belong to an organization that consistently interferes with governments around the world, especially in the United States by telling it's followers "that Communion must be denied to Catholic politicians who support legal abortion.” (in effect telling their followers who to vote for).
These justices made a conscious decision to belong to an organization that is headed by a former member of the Luftwaffe AA battery of the Hitler Youth Corps.
Granted one member of a church is not responsible for the actions of the other members but what they are responsible for is giving legitimacy and money to an organization that not only committed the above actions but then covered them up (in some cases for decades).
It is this lack of responsibility and the acceptance of the illegal actions of their own church that makes this such a troubling issue.
And it speaks volumes to what these justices view the role of the church to be and how much they are willing to over look criminal actions in the quest for their own personal jesus.
Most dems will support her and most repubs won't. We all know this and no amount of money spent on ads will ever change that.
People on both sides have already made up their minds and when the circus sideshow finally ends, she'll be on the Supreme Court.
Can't we just skip all the intermediate bullshit and jump to the last page?
Just ask those firefighters in Ct. what they think about Sotomayor. They got high scores on a test, but because they weren't the right color --no one got promoted. They're changing the test, instead. And Sotomayor threw out their case. By nominating Sotomayor, Obama is sanctioning reverse racism. What happened to equality and fairness --- forget about empathy! This appears to be about activism, pushing an agenda, control, and maybe "getting even." Makes me wonder, maybe Obama's relationship with Ayers and his previous pastor deserved more scrutiny. If it walks like a duck...
Hispanics have solid family values, amazing work ethic, business savvy, and conservative views. Is it possible that
Obama could have chosen a Hispanic who believed in fairness and equality, instead? Someone who would have delved deeper into the firefighter case in Ct. to ensure that equality and fairness prevailed?
Why should Obama have to choose a Bush appointeee?
Aren't there any judges appointed by emocrats that are suitable for the Supreme Court
I don't recall Bush, Bush or Reagan putting Dems on the court

Your post was not interesting on the other thread you posted it on, and not worthy to be posted on every single story that mentions Sotomayor today and in the future.
I agree with you, the Catholic church has done (and continues to do for that matter) a lot of evil over the years. We would all be better off if it never existed. But it does, and other than her religion she is as good a pick as a liberal can expect to get. Politics is and always has been about the lesser of two evils, and if you fail to choose the lesser, you will surely wind up with the greater...
Apparently America's poor financial situation hasn't affected the spending-lots-of-money-on-all-sorts-of-political-shit segment of the economy.
