Screw Specter

Time to send money to Rep. Sestak.

Thursday, May 21, 2009 01:50 PM

The Democratic leaders would rather have a Republican (Specter)

than an actual Democrat.

Reminds me of the DNC choosing Obama instead of an actual Democrat.

Senator For Life Specter

This also demostrates just how little the Washington establishment thinks of state primaries. The principle goal is keep THEMSELVES (regardless of party) in power.

I have my problems with term limits but something needs to be done to open up the process more and allow for new voices to be more easily heard. Especially at the primary level where the two parties routinely block out promising canidates in favor of those who follow the Washington code.

I am

donating to Sestak. This is a case where a good primary fight can only help the nominee, whether it be one or the other. My personal opinion is Specter ought to retire as a Republican but his ego won't let him do that.

Too Early

It is too early for a poll to have much meaning; all you are registering is name recognition. Of course Specter is better known, which, ultimately, should actually be the cause of his downfall. I am hoping that Sestak runs, and I too will be happy to donate what I can to his campaign. It seems clear to me that Specter needs a reminder that he is now -- supposedly -- a Democrat, and that means supporting at least some major positions generally shared by the party.

@sonofloud

"The Democratic leaders would rather have a Republican (Specter) than an actual Democrat."

Depending on how the poll was conducted, perhaps Penn Democratic primary voters also would rather have Specter than a real Democrat. Disappointing, but sometimes that's just the way these things go.

Go Joe

I have donated to and worked for Sestak before and will do so again. I really resent these guys cramming Specter down our throats. We already have enough Democrats who don't vote like Democrats. Specter needs to retire -- too late to do it gracefully.

The Democratic voters of PA need to stand up and refuse to accept being dictated to in this manner. At this point I'll vote for Toomey out of spite before I'll vote for Specter. The Dems are utterly failing to make use of their majority anyway.

name rec

I agree with Outis. This is all about name recognition at this point. If we can fund Sestak well enough he can get his name out there. What was Lamont's polling against Lieberman this long before that primary?

Thursday, May 21, 2009 02:34 PM

Democratic Leaders to Lamont:

Lay off Lieberman.

And how'd that work out for everyone?

Luckily Democratic primary voters aren't as easily rolled as Harry Reid and his senate pals.

I've a mind to send money to Sestak

just to give the finger to the DSCC.

And yeah, this is nothing but name recognition at this point.

..

"DSCC Communications Director Eric Schultz points out that the GOP hardly even has a credible candidate yet."

Funny, neither do the Dems.

Sestak's contribution

I think Rep. Sestak is making an important contribution to the Dem cause. The fact that he stays in the race, even for show, makes Specter behave honestly: i.e., vote with his party on crucial issues. Otherwise, why should we trust Specter? Give me one reason. Keep at it, Sestak.

SESTAK OR ELSE

Joe Sestak is a true representative of the Democratic Party & Spector is only playing games. Many will never VOTE again if Sestak isn't included in the process.
