I forget...

Is this the daughter whose sexuality Cheney would like to legislate out of existence?

Dick

It's more than a little pathetic, actually. Cheney really has lost his mind. He makes outrageous claims and points to evidence that doesn't exist. A former vice president, in the twilight of his life, a heart tremor away from his final days, and he sees himself going down through the ages as a dirty rotten liar and nothing more. Good riddance.

here's your pole and a bucket of bait

Get on the next plane to WY!

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 08:54 AM

Cheney truly believes Obama is making the country less safe

No one is arguing with his belief.

It's just that he's wrong.

...better fishing in Wyoming than breaking rocks in Leavenworth

I have no doubt Ms. Cheney's father would rather be fishing in Wyoming. However, given that he is guilty of planning and committing war crimes--launching an aggressive war and inflicting torture on prisoners--he's got to spend his retirement time obfuscating and dissembling, spreading his rhetoric like a cloud in hopes he can either sway opinion his way or at least so confuse the issues of the crimes involved that forward momentum to mounting investigations may be stopped, or at least seriously impeded.

Like all criminals, he's got to set up his alibis and try to tamper with the jury!

Who cares?

After 8 years of that sub-human piece of shit the only words I'm ever going to listen to from him again are his not guilty plea at the wire tapping and torture trials. And that only so I can be sure he gets tha maximum sentence. The sooner his cyborg heart finally gives out the better for the whole world.

@ JamesLeask

Yep!

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 09:01 AM

Who cares and why do you cover it?

Isn't this more for the wry snarky smirk of Rachel Maddow?

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 09:05 AM

He'd like to be...

...but Wyoming frowns on fishing with dynamite.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 09:05 AM

Poor Wyoming

I'd rather he went and shot some friends in Texas, personally.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 09:11 AM

If the old nutjob is short on cash for a fishing trip I'll kick in a few bucks.

Hey Dick, here's a few bucks, get lost for the next few days... (er... years!)

You had your 8 years in the spotlight (shadows) - go fish, hunt or preferably take a long walk off a short pier.

in Wyoming???

Absolutly NOT, he should spend the rest of his days in solitary confinement in the worst jail we have to offer. Her husband is a corrupt creep, also. Obviously, this woman's judgment is as flawed as the rest of her diabolical family.

James Leask

I think the daughter you are referring to is named Mary.

The Cheney family are a bunch of liars---all of them

There came a time when I realized that the entire Cheney clan are liars and prevaricators.

I now believe that it is not merely a difference of opinion or politics. Dick Cheney clearly knows that his arguments are at best hypocritical, and at worst (and most likely) flat-out lies. Remember his appearance on "Meet The Press" where he cited a New York Times article about aluminum tubes. He claimed that this article served as additional evidence of what he was claiming, knowing full well that he himself was the source of that article. That was no oversight---it was intentional dissembling.

And his wife and daughters are no better. Lynn Cheney is a member of the American Enterprise Institute which is dedicated to pushing lies to promote the conservative agenda. Remember when she argued that Jim Webb was inappropriate for Senator because of the sex scene in his novel, overlooking that fact that she herself published a novel with a much steamier (lesbian) sex scene.

Mary Cheney is the lesbian that, along with the entire Republican establishment, reacted with feigned outrage that John Kerry would point out her sexual orientation during a presidential debate, even though her partner Heather Poe was a prominent guest at Bush's State of the Union address to Congress, and Mary herself worked in public relation for America Online in their Gay and Lesbian Outreach initiative.

And daughter Liz Cheney was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, a newly created position that many (like Paul Krugman) believed was created just for her. Her husband Phil Perry was Chief Council in the Department of Homeland Security, and is now a lobbist for defense contractors, primarily Lockheed Martin.

Evidently, the entire Cheney family has the belief that the truth is not absolute. but is simply what you say it is. The Torture policy saved thousands of lives; it is pretty clear that there is a link between Saddam and Osama, and Dick Cheney would rather be fishing in Wyoming. Yea, sure.

Even more annoying than Cheney himself...

...is the media obsession with continuing to publicize his every vile utterance. Isn't this guy irrelevant already? He's had his day (for which the country is much the worse), now we can afford to ignore him and let's please do so.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 09:23 AM

I have to wonder...

if the Dick really needs our financial help to get to WY. Can't wait to see his 2009 tax return. Isn't he due for a major, and I do mean major, influx of deferred income from Halliburton? Certainly that would be enough to get him to a remote trout-fishing village somewhere, although I think the north of Spain (as recommended by Hemingway) would be safer for him than WY, which is nominally still a US state. Now that I think about this, the money is bound to end up in the Cayman Islands, and that would be a good place for him, too.

In office he was a relatively quiet, evil Dick. Now he's a loud, angry Dick.

@Official G

No one is arguing with his belief.

I am completely arguing with his belief. I don't think he believes what he's saying at all.

I think he did some bad things as VP, which he knows he could be prosecuted for if the public was in the mood to demand it. He is going out of his way to make sure the public does not get in the mood to demand prosecution by fostering the idea that it was all necessary.

It is polite to give people to benefit of the doubt and assume they mean what they say, but Ol' Dick's history over the last eight years has rebutted that presumption.

Dick Cheney: Afraid of Being Afraid

I feel compassion for Liz Cheney because she feels compelled to defend her crazy dad! (It is hard to have a mentally ill parent.)

And, let there be no doubt, this man is a full-blown delusional paranoid. I have thought so for years, but after reading about his fear of being (or having been) poisoned after 9/11, I am convinced. All of those disappearances into "undisclosed locations" turn out to be attempts to escape further poisoning!

I wish the MSM would address Cheney's paranoia and his "fear of fear," instead of treating his outbursts as sane policy utterances! They aren't!! He is not the first mentally ill person to hold high office. But he certainly is the most irksome!!!!
