Garafalo came was able to demonstrate and back-up her statements even while ambushed by O'Reilly, well done.
But there is something strange about hordes of people that just got a tax cut protesting the Obama tax plan. So I would say that Garofalo may have been on to something as far as these particular yahoo's brains not working properly.
Ms Garofalo was absolutely correct in her assessment of the Tea Bag people. While their ignorance may be offensive- so be it. I do not understand why the so-called left is so meek when it comes to calling people out who need to be called out. It is the same thing with Wanda Sykes set at the dinner the other night. People on the left were actually feigning being upset because she blasted Rush Limbaugh (pound for pound, about as anti-American as a guy can get) and mentioned 9-11. I seem to recall at the same event a couple of years ago George Bush doing a skit where he was looking for weapons of mass destruction under his desk, in the corder, etc. Was this offensive to no one? Give JG and WS a break! Oh Please...
Garofalo (and Sykes) can say whatever she pleases. The pantywaists can fall all over themselves to disavow whatever these women say, but that won't appease the right wingers. Nothing will. Why even bother? Just say, Right On, and feel proud that someone is bashing the righties on TV, FINALLY
JG absolutely ate the "ambusher" alive and called out B.O. to boot...NICE!
Clearly tougth sledding these days for the wimps at Faux News.
BTW, I'm still waiting for the other wimp, Sean Hannity to man-up for the waterboarding display....
These people are continually writing checks with their mouths that they simply can't cash with their asses.
Yeah, like she said this in the privacy of her own home. Like she didn't use the media to spread her idiotic message. Like she hadn't received any public criticism for it already. Like Fox's bias isn't well-known.
Ambush? Only if she's as stupid as the average Salon reader.
running through FOX News’s "tea-bagger" gatherings, then sir, you are blind.
Furthermore, to state that you think Garofalo was incorrect in her assessment that the tea baggers are largely motivated by racism because not everyone at these so-called events is strictly motivated by racism and nothing else is kinda stupid.
I was expecting, as someone getting ambushed, that Garofalo was going to be on the defensive.... not even close. That's how someone would defend against an ambush in their dreams.
disagree with you and agree with Garafolo, at least about the racism thing, the brain thing was tongue in cheek which you would know had you actually watched the interview on MSNBC.
"not helping the discourse"--WTF?
People like you amaze me. THERE IS NO DISCOURSE. There hasn't been a "discourse" since at least 1992, and probably since 1980. These are Lee Atwater's people; these are the people who claimed WJC was a Commie mole because he took a trip to Moscow as a student; these are the people who tried to impeach a president using sex as the grounds; these are the people who lied to us about Iraq; these are the people who have called Obama a socialist.
THERE IS NO DISCOURSE POSSIBLE WITH THESE PEOPLE. They stopped talking and started simply assuming hardened positions a long time ago. The notion that we can talk with them, no matter how much we might long to, is simply bullshit--it's typical of the weak-spined "liberalism" of Pelosi and Reid.
And, ya know, Coulter gets away with the "joke" of suggesting that we should poison members of the SC; JG makes a clear joke about the limbic brain (an intelligent joke, too!) and you take it seriously.
How was that operation that surgically removed your sense of humor, Alex? Painful? Because it must have been pulled out of your ass....
Once more: THERE IS NO DISCOURSE POSSIBLE. People who toss science out the window, who simply repeat talking points--YOU CAN'T TALK WITH THEM.
"Doesn't help the discourse" INDEED.
Why do liberals feel the need to avoid the racism issue? Of course not all conservatives are racist, but the tea parties smacked of that feeling where you know this wouldn't happen if the president were white. Remember the campaign rallies last year and the guy with the monkey that was supposed to be Obama? The truth is that the Republican party is not the racist party, but it most certainly is the party with the most racists.
First of all I think she was joking about the brains of Conservatives. Although I have often noticed with great curiosity how most Republicans seem unable to process factual evidence when it collides with their prejudices.
Anyway she was great here. She turned the tables of the Fox ambusher and he was the one who sounded cornered. I especially love the "f*&k Bill O'Reilly" comment. She is awesome.
You really should have watched her whole segment on Olbermann. It was a witty, funny bit. You know Garafalo is a comedian, right?
Seriously? She was clearly just venting. As a progressive still getting over 8 years of Bush, she's entitled to some crazy BS. And can we please stop wringing our hands every time a Wanda Sykes or a Garofalo goes a little over the line? The right-wingers actually try to defend the insane ramblings of the Ann Coulters on their side, so even if we just stand back and let a few liberal comediennes spout off we'll still have the high road all to ourselves.
Salon is getting awfully comfy with the lunatics on the right wing lately. WTF is gong on? I am guessing I was one of the very first people to subscribe to Salon, and I did it to help fund a countervailing presence on the web to all the right wing Scaife financed websites. It's very disconcerting.
At the risk of sounding like I'm defending the "racist teabagger" line (I'm not), there is some evidence to back up the brain differences claim, as evidenced by this article. Self-described liberals and conservatives have shown distinctly different levels of brain activity in the Anterior Cingulate Cortex--which is part of the limbic system, as near as I can tell. Neurologists?
