Real truth in advertising

Actually, I think the Dems should go along with this. As long as the GOP changes its name to the Theocratic Fascists.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:34 PM

Two words for the RNC.

"Straw", "grasp".

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:34 PM

Ha ha! In their resolution they refer to the "Democratic Party"

I thought it was supposed to be the "Democrat Party". Didn't they get the memo from Faux News?

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:35 PM

ugh

i hate these people.

just GO AWAY and let us fix the country.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:37 PM

@Spero M

You beat me to the punch.

Other titles I would accept include "Limbaugh Collective," "Party of Fox Punditry" and "Party of Hypocritical Idiocy". Or, "Rethuglican Party" would do nicely.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:37 PM

I wouldn't mind them calling themselves Democratic Socialists

if they would become Democratic Socialists.

When the Democratic Party moves to Bernie Sanders, the name change might be appropriate. Until then, sod off GOP.

Change your names to the Confederate Republicans

Thanks for keying in on the things that are most important, GOP. Who else can we look to know how to insert our heads completely up our own asses?

While we're on this topic, when will you be changing your name to the the Confederate Douchenozzle Party? Since half of your keystone state of Texas wants to, you know, secede?

Enjoy your slide into obscurity

Obama and his largely Democratic administration: repairing the faltering economy, creating new jobs, fostering green technology and energy, re-engaging the world and repairing our shattered image abroad.

The Republican Party: bitching about semantics, stapling tea bags to head.

Enjoy your decades of coming obscurity, children.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:42 PM

I always now refer to Goopers as

"Reu'ublicists"

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:45 PM

Keep on searching for relevance there...

I'm so glad the GOP is working on important issues like this, instead of devising and proposing actual viable alternatives to the economic policies they find so onerous.

We're listening.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:46 PM

(CRICKETS)

Nothing? I thought so.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:49 PM

I dunno about you..

...but I am really enjoying this. I can hardly dare to hope the GOP keeps on this road..but if they do, they really are toast. They will never win a national election again, and odds are they'll lose the Senate in 2010.

Then it'll be time to do something about people like Ben Nelson.

In the meantime, I urge the GOP to keep up the '50s redbaiting. Bring it guys! It might even work. You just need to try harder.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:49 PM

Well...

Gee, maybe they should just go by the Grasping-at-straws Obsession Party.

At least then they can still go by GOP.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:49 PM

And one for them

How about Republican National Crooks?

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:51 PM

Sure no problem,

The GOP just need to change their name to, "God-Damn Lying Mother F_cking As_holes who Torture" first

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:57 PM

awsome idea

Henceforth the republican party shall be known as LOSERS!

Thursday, April 23, 2009 02:57 PM

If that's the BEST they can do...

...and I'm pretty sure it is, then Democrats have nothing to worry about, and the last Republican out the door can switch off the lights.

Republicans are doing a bang-up job of marginalizing themselves even better than Democrats could ever hope to. Kind of reminds me of a yappy 5-pound chihuahua, hopping incessantly around a Lab weighing twenty times as much -- loud and irritating, but completely ineffectual.

You know the real shame here

"should agree to rename themselves the Democrat Socialist Party."

is that cartoonists like Tom Tomorrow have to work try to keep the satire more extreme than just good old reality. I mean, the Republicans are going to put satirists out of business if they keep this stuff up.

GOOD AT WORD PLAY

Hey I remember eight years of torturous word play. It's not an insurgency, mission accomplished, we have enough troops, WMD and too many others.

Now Cheney and Rove, two the most secretive liars we have ever had to face, can say (and their ears do not fall of) openness and transparency.

I think we should agree to their request, right after they announce their true name Fascist Republicans. What they did with the war, the Justice Department and the Constitution is unquestionable evidence of Fascist behavior.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 03:16 PM

RNC Name Change

It may be a tortured pun, but they kinda like torture, don't they?

So how about "The Bad Whigs Party"?

Thursday, April 23, 2009 03:18 PM

Nationalization?

I'm so puzzled. Can anyone please tell me what exactly the Democrats have "nationlized"? Honestly, it seems to me that the Obama administration is bending over backwards to AVOID nationalizing any of the banks, what are these people talking about?

Thursday, April 23, 2009 03:22 PM

Lying with statistics

That is not a statistically significant difference with a sample of that size.

In other words, only a fool or a liar would claim that a 0.9% difference between two polls of ~750 people means anything.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 03:23 PM

It's probably fair.

I've been calling them the Dumbass Republicans for years now.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 03:43 PM

I was going to say

National Socialist. Hey hey, what about all the good things they did? Like national health care, highways, mass transit, pest control?

Thursday, April 23, 2009 03:45 PM

What's next?

Passing a resolution calling the Dems the "Lying Poo-Poo Head Fartface Party, So There"?

I am enjoying this more than I ever could. First the "There's a storm coming" ad, now this. It's like found goddamned poetry.

RNC corporatist-fascists

If Democrats are socialists then Republicans need to change their names to "Republican Fascists." As the fascist dictator Mussolini said: "fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." RNC demagogues need to be called out loud and often since it is clear that corporate control and corporate ass- kissing is their strong preference and is the very real, current threat to our Democracy. They truly want to sell us the idea that "whatever's good for the multinational corporation is good for the people." If people buy into that after what the corporatists Bush,Cheney have wrought on us, they are pathetic; nobody's buying it now. They have been exposed.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 03:55 PM

The best thing to do...

Is simply get out of their way.... don't get any on ya!

Thursday, April 23, 2009 04:02 PM

I like "Social Democrats"

That's what like-minded parties are called in Europe.

Thursday, April 23, 2009 04:06 PM

Fine with me!

I have been a Democrat since 1968 and am proud to tell my friends that I also consider myself a "socialist". I believe that government needs to provide a safety net for the poor, the disabled, the elderly, the mentally ill, etc. in addition to traditional government services. Those of us who are financially "able" should pay taxes to provide that safety net as well as police services, building roads, putting out fires and all those other governmental "services" that even the GOP would recognize as necessary, although they don't seem to want to pay for them. We need that government to be as clean as humanly possible and it will be a perpetual struggle to make that happen, but it's cetainly better than the Republican alternative of "make the rich even richer and screw the rest of them!"
