. . . the return volley will be fun to watch.
1) Like when the left released the "torture memos"...
2) followed by Cheney's claim that we gained valuable information from the techniques that were used
3) followed by the salonistas' claims that Cheney is lying
4) followed by obama's intelligence director, who confirmed Cheney's claims.
"President Obama’s national intelligence director told colleagues in a private memo last week that the harsh interrogation techniques banned by the White House did produce significant information that helped the nation in its struggle with terrorists."

This make the salonistas' look stupid. I expect that one day we will learn how the NSA prevented additional attacks, which will make the salonistas look even stupider. . . . it' just a matter of time, but you might want to start moving the goal posts now.
They're using MY tactic, against ME!!!!!
Rick Tyler, a Gingrich spokesman, told Politico's Ben Smith, "The Democrats can’t stand on their policy, so they have to personify an enemy. It’s the politics of personal destruction.”
about time somebody kicked these cowardly bullies in the teeth.
"The information gained from these techniques was valuable in some instances, but there is no way of knowing whether the same information could have been obtained through other means,” Admiral Blair said in a written statement issued last night. “The bottom line is these techniques have hurt our image around the world, the damage they have done to our interests far outweighed whatever benefit they gave us and they are not essential to our national security."
Next time, try reading the whole article.
The people who accused Bill Clinton of being a rapist, who accused a Democratic House Speaker of "coming out of the closet," who ran TV ads that show Democratic politicans morphing into Osama bin Laden, are sniveling about being the targets of the politics of personal destruction?
It changes nothing. Cheney telling the truth for once is noteworthy, but to reiterate my point from before, if he was then you can't release the reports of what intelligence was actually obtained. Which means either way he was bluffing.
The article you cite also contains the statement
"The information gained from these techniques was valuable in some instances, but there is no way of knowing whether the same information could have been obtained through other means”, so I can only conclude that your continued support for torture is motivated by some personal sadistic streak.
I remain personally disgusted that there are citizens of this country who support and defend torture. America used to be better than that.
But doncha know....
inflicting pain on people is a lot more fun than the more productive approaches.
A hundred something Waterboardings of an insane man in a month! Repressed gay fun for freeper voyeurs.
Still, I look forward to the fool to tries to rehabilitate Cheney....
lets see the information that was helpful before we jump to the conclusion that it was....helpful.
Heh. You just got "pwned".
Salon said torture didn't work.
Cheney said it did work.
The admiral said it works, but maybe we could have used alternative methods.
Meanwhile, obama continues to bomb terrorist suspects in Pakistan. No habeus corpus, no miranda rights, . . . dead.
The left has lost the moral superiority that they have been pretending to hold.
"lets see the information that was helpful before we jump to the conclusion that it was....helpful." - nancerich
Dear nancerich,
I share your mistrust of the obama administration, the one that just confirmed Cheney's statement that the US gained valuable information through torture.
However, in this case, since the obama admin felt compelled to acknowledge Cheney was right, I suspect that additional information will only further support Cheney's claim. . . maybe obama is trying to control "the truth".
I'm looking forward to the additional info that is bound to come forth.
The salonista claims that Cheney was lying, and that torture never worked have been clearly debunked, by the obama admin.
Hey, did obama bomb any more suspected terrorists in Pakistan today? . . . is that considered torture?
before jumping to conclusions, a smart person would want to see information received through torture, and read the memos about how this information was gleaned.
Whether Admiral Blair's memo reflects a morale problem at the CIA, or is a defense of subordinates, one can not know, unless someone actually understand the context...
however, tell me...
how is this binary thinking thing working out for ya, pal?
As far as I'm concerned it is a wonderful thing that the Dems finnaly grew a pair and respond in kind to the bullshit , because the LIBRUL media sure as hell ain't going to do it.
Oh Look! Gee an opposing view from people who were on his team.
U.S. counterterrorism officials are reacting angrily to ex-Vice President Dick Cheney's claim that waterboarding 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed 183 times was a "success" that produced actionable intelligence.
"Cheney is full of crap," one intelligence source with decades of experience said Tuesday.

Moving those goal posts is tough work, isn't it?
Slave on, nance, slave on.
It seems redundant that the Democrats feel they must continue to attack Republicans. There's a tipping point where this will backfire. Even the investigation into who's responsible for so-called torture is about politics. Americans forget that we were attacked by terrorists with planes into our buildings killing thousands of innocent Americans! If Obama was president in 2001, I Promise you he'd be using same tactics to get information from terrorists and we'd be encouraging him! We need to stop the politics, stop wasting our tax dollars, and move on. America is becoming very internally-focused at the expense of the bigger picture.
What's funny about the Republican criticism is that they are finally acknowledging that we were right in our criticisms of their 2004 strategies. They ran in 2004 as if they were the party in the wilderness, beset by the powerful Elites who were all liberals. In fact, of course, they ran everything at the time.
However, the DNC ad is not like the 2004 GOP tactic at all. Instead of, "They're coming to get us! Vote for us, or They will win," the ad is a moderately clever cutting off of the Republicans at the knees. They are trying to say, "They have gone back to what you disliked." This is a way to prevent any "new" Republican Party from emerging and neutralizing any talk among Republican candidates that they are the "new GOP" that "learned from our mistakes."
The GOP in power now is acting like it has no memory of George W. Bush. The Party of Amnesia is setting all records for forgetting, and the Memory Hole has gotten stretched wide enough now to swallow a decade. Therefore, it's an important strategy for the DNC to say, "Oh, the new GOP? Yeah: Gingrich (defeated in '94), and the people around Bush."
This is a rebuttal tactic, not an attack.
