Will Rudy Giuliani turn anti-gay marriage crusader?

The former New York City mayor, who might be gearing up to run for governor, hints at what one of his big issues could be.

Why wouldn't he?

Why not, the GOP's goals are all about serving the rich and powerful anyway. The whole religion and morals thing is just a smokescreen. Tell the religious right what they want to hear and, if they believe you, you're gold with today's GOP. However, they might not believe him.

Will Rudy Giuliani turn anti-gay marriage crusader?

A girl can hope!

So the guy who has been married three times is going to campaign for "the sanctity of marriage"

No doubt he will be flanked on the campaign stands by Newt Gingrich and Rush Limabugh, making a total of nine marriages.

Was he in Marilyn drag when he made te comment, or...

...was he in the dark wig?

Monday, April 20, 2009 12:27 PM

Um, isn't this the guy ...

... who lived with two gay friends when he moved out of Gracie Mansion after his (second) marriage publicly and messily unraveled? Way to pay them back.

Monday, April 20, 2009 12:47 PM

Obviously ...

the post-9/11 rumors of irony's demise were greatly exaggerated.

Should be interesting

I'm a New Yorker. No doubt Giuliani has a following of some sort, but I think most New Yorkers got pretty tired of him a long time ago. And his presidential run was embarrassing to watch. His own personal and family life is a sterling example of how not to do it. All in all, could be fun to watch him run for statewide office and get slapped back on his ass.

911 , 911 , 911!

Noun verb 911 , Gay Marrage? a new litany

What a Douche

Seriously? The guy who's been married three times, seperated, divorced, cheated on his second wife (and married his cousin the first time) and ended up marrying his mistress is gonna lecture the rest of us about marriage?

Fuck you, Rudy. Seriously. FUCK YOU!

Monday, April 20, 2009 01:59 PM

Wow

I think BabyGrumpus pretty much nailed this one.

Flip-flop, flip-flop

By the time that his opponent would get done noting the political expedience of his stance, given

1) 3 marriages

2) doesn't talk to children

3) did drag

4) lived with a gay couple

5) supported civil unions and signed DP benefit bills

Rudy would be left to flap in the wind. There's no support for such a change except trying to get elected. I can imagine the photos of Rudy in drag next to his words about gay marriage..

Besides, is that really going to resonate in the middle of the worst depression in 70 years? I don't think so.

Monday, April 20, 2009 02:59 PM

You're just not one of them, Rudy.

Like McCain he flounders on the issue, not knowing whether not to look like a mean spirited (and hypocritical) jerk who alienates moderates or then, alternately, thinking he can't possibly win without the sanctimony needed to win over the conservative theocrats. Pathetic and he's not too bright, is he?, if he doesn't yet recognize his party only trusts yahoos.

Monday, April 20, 2009 03:42 PM

Even his own party won't buy this...

People saw through his 9/11 exploitation on the natinal stage, how many people does he think he'll fool on the local level?

Monday, April 20, 2009 05:09 PM

It's a miracle ....

I agree with every single one of the comments so far!

rudy,rudy,rudy

The new savior of america along with mr. morality gingrich and loud mouth limburger are going to save the sanctity of marriage. WOW!!! Rudy googleface had to marry one of his cousins, that is how hard up he was for a piece of ass. Between the 3 they have enough to have a baseball team. By now they might have enough to have a few spares. The republican saviors of the world.

his opponents will have a field day with those photos of him in drag

they should make for interesting campaign posters. Like, er, this one:
