Rumble in the jungle: Limbaugh v. Gingrich

The two conservative heavyweights are facing off, and it's getting ugly.

Go Rush!

You tell 'em! Last Man Standing, yeah!

Every man for himself in the (sinking) Republican boat. And there certainly won't be any women.

He forgot to finish his last sentence

"So I love it. I'm up for it. I raise my hand. I'm the Last Man Standing. I'm not going to back down. I'm not going to stop saying what I say or what I believe 'cause I'm an American NARCISSIST."

If we could only harness Rush's hot air...

...we could solve our energy crises with an (unfortunately) renewable energy source.

Key-Rice-T

Limbaugh is an ass.

There is no end to his ego, is there? Is the GOP *finally* starting to realize they sold their collective soul to the devil, and like all deals with Scratch, their wish has become a nightmare? Instead of a "permanent majority" they got a a permanent spot on talk radio: Rush.

We've all made Rush so very happy -- and it's been worth it

we've fed both his egomania and his persecution complex; we've given the attention whore the most attention he's ever received; I have no doubt that at this moment, Rush feels more fulfilled than at any other time in his entire life.

Now, normally the last thing I'd want to do is make an ogre like Limbaugh happy -- especially since it's been his mission to make life miserable for everybody who disagrees with him.

But in the process of making Rush's life a wonderland, we've also managed to make him an object of disdain and contempt for most of the nation (you know, the 320 million or so folks in the US who don't listen to Rush); at the same time,we've also managed to expose the leading lights of the GOP as a bunch of spineless, craven snivellers who are willing to stand by and watch the world's economy collapse -- simply because it'll hurt Obama and the Dems at election time.

So keep up the good work -- even if the byproduct is something as noxious as Rush Limbuagh's happiness.

I Love Watching Republicans Self Destruct.

Apparently Megan McCain is beating up on Ann Coulter as well :)

Narcissistic, much?

Limbaugh, GOP diva. Making Newt sound reasonable and moderate is an Augean task.

From the mouths of babes

"If I had no impact, if I had no influence, if I was such an extremist appealing to such a small number of people, why, what they'd be doing is laughing, or ignoring."

Exactly! No, Rush, you are exactly that, an extremist appealing to a small number of people, and the Republicans should be doing just that, ignoring you or laughing. Instead, they're twisting themselves into new Euripidies plays every day over you, and we're the ones laughing.

The Republican party is now seemingly operating on one guiding principle: Don't make the Dittoheads angry. If you do they'll write angry letters, and this must be avoided at all costs.

How they came to believe that following this policy of pandering to one relatively small group (perhaps 4% of the population, at the very highest estimate) is of paramount importance is something best left to sociologists and historians of the future. For now, we can simply enjoy the carnage.

The part I love is when all of the Beltway Broders like Brooks and well, everyone, claim now that "the White House" is creating this, or even that it's half-responsible for "elevating" Rush to such importance.

Elevating nothing. Rahm Emanuel pointed out what the Republicans were doing, that any of them who denied that Limbaugh is the leader of the GOP has to run groveling to apologize the next day. Then the head of the Republican National Committee ran to apologize the next day. For having said just that.

Yes, they should be just laughing. Instead, we are. It's bad I suppose to get such pleasure from watching all this, but it is kind of a rush.

Huh...

@Moondoggy: 320 million Americans? Uh, we're 303,824,640 (c.2008 estimation).

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/print/us.html

The other 17 million must be those of us *really* not paying attention to Rush. Shunning, yeah, that's it; we're giving it 150%+! :)

Seriously, this does remind me of Nixon's comments about conservatives turning to cannibalism. Them's good eatin!

I couldn't dream up this kind of entertainment. I need to go fix me some popcorn.

"everybody"

So... Rusty looks down at his bloated, wasted corpulence and imagines he's atop a mountain, eh? I could see how he would think that... looking down. But... imagining that "everybody" wants to be a thrice divorced, pasty, morbidly obese coward who hides behind a microphone... a person so vile that a majority of his countrymen, and apparently anyone he'd like to have a relationship with reviles... a junkie... an impotent braggart....

Nah.... he can have his 40 million. I hope he finds comfort in it in the few remaining years that he has left before his heart gives out from the drug abuse and trying to pump blood through all that coagulated fat.

Monday, March 9, 2009 04:19 PM

Put 'em on pay-for-view!

I'd tune in...it'd be like Wrestlemania except the combatants would be old and fat. Maybe their ex-wives could fight each other as tag teams. Everybody could use staple guns and folding chairs. They'd have to size-up the winner's belt, though.

Stephanie Miller a refreshing alternative

Last week, (Tuesday, I think?) political comedienne Stephanie Miller was on Larry King Live. When asked abut the whole Rush phenomenon, she quipped "It's been very good for Rush. I wish I got this much attention. Maybe I should say something incendiary, like 'Rush Limbaugh should be executed for treason' and see if I make the news."

By Friday, her email box was crammed with suspiciously similar hate mail: "How dare you insult this American treasure!" "You should be executed!" "Why don't you leave the country!" and a whole lot of assorted unprintable words, mixed in with a few death threats against (inexplicably) President Obama.

Funny as all hell (clearly, the Dittoheads and Freepers either failed to understand, willfully ignored, or flat out never saw, the entire clip, which clearly placed Miller's comments in context as a joke about Rush's tortured hyperbole, not a death wish for Limbaugh), and yet achingly sad. Poor Dittoheads. They are a hive, a Borg collective, but all together, they don't seem to create a fully functioning intelligence.
