Obama has a new fan -- Joe Lieberman

The Connecticut senator, a big supporter of John McCain's during the presidential campaign, says he's come around.

The letters thread is now closed.

Unbelievable

Does he have no shame at all?

Revolting

That disgusting little weasel must want something, or he's discovered that someone has the goods on him.

Monday, March 9, 2009 08:43 AM

Kick this ass to the curb.

Why he was re-elected in 2004 is beyond me, but no matter. Time to show this turncoat the door.

Disagreeing with your party on a few issues is one thing, but campaigning for Republicans in a presidential election, especially after the disasterous past 8 years we've had to endure?

That's an asskicking.

Yikes

An endorsement from Lieberman.

Why is this...

even news? Why is anyone surprised?

Monday, March 9, 2009 08:55 AM

I hope the Democrats don't let Lieberman run in their primary elections

I really don't want Lieberman in the Democratic primaries in 2012. He's already shown that he doesn't care what the primary voters want.

@-- matthewbenzor

There have only been 14 US Presidents who were Freemasons. The last one was Gerald Ford.

Despicable

As Republican approval ratings continue to drop and President Obama's continue to rise suddenly Lieberman becomes a "fan"? This man has no shame; what else has changed in Obama's policy between now and the campaign to suddenly make Lieberman change his 'allegiance'?

And what about his buddy McCain who is doing everything he can to undermine Obama and the Democrats? When will Lieberman start speaking out against him? My bet is that Lieberman will just ignore it on the off chance McCain/Republicans come back into vogue so he will have a place to run to that will gladly accept his fickle 'allegiance'.

Windsurfer

Lieberman ist a perfect windsufer, he turns by the slightest breath of wind in the new direction.

In the same way, Grima Wormtongue would have eventually warmed to the king of Rohan...

...once he realized he wasn't going anywhere, and Saruman wasn't as powerful as all that.

What I wonder is, does Lieberman correctly understand his role in modern politics as that of a shameless scumbag, or is he under some sort of delusion?

Monday, March 9, 2009 09:54 AM

I think it's the typical

I'm-so-much-smarter-than-the-rest-of-you syndrom so prevalent in poltics.

Monday, March 9, 2009 10:05 AM

NOOOOOOOO

Lieberman has a superpower: kiss of death. Everyone that he endorsed, or served as a running mate, ends up in the ditch. Just ask Al Gore and John McCain.

Tell Lieberman to take his "fandom" and go elsewhere.

With apologies to Reg Dwight:

"...and it seems to me, you've lived your life with a finger in the wind.."

He campaigned for PALIN for God's sake!

Not only he is a "turncoat," he's a shameless one at that! Not able to exercise any independent judgment, he promoted not only John McRage at GOP campaign rallies throughout the country last year, but he endorsed Caribou Barbie as well.

I have every confidence that the voters of Connecticut will hold him accountable next time around.

Monday, March 9, 2009 02:04 PM

It's all about sucking up to power for Joementum.

Doesn't matter who holds the sceptre -- Joe wants to kiss it. I'm not sure there is a more shameless whore in politics.

Monday, March 9, 2009 04:50 PM

Oh my...

If Lieberman thinks Obama is doing a good job, then maybe he's not!

Monday, March 9, 2009 07:48 PM

Lieberman rescuing Obama

I thought Lieberman was rescuing Obama from Buffet's and Welch's comments. They didn't exactly praise Obama's handling of the financial crisis.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009 10:18 AM

Politics or Principle? Doesn't really matter

Some people may fault Lieberman for pole-vaulting back and forth, but personally I respect him for supporting what is clearly the best president the US has had in many years. If only the "just say no" brand of republican could grab a brain...

Tuesday, March 10, 2009 11:06 AM

DUMP HIM FOR GOOD.....PLEASE!

Liebermann can't be trusted. He needs to be left out there dangling on a rope. Not welcomed into the big tent.....please don't do that, please, please......

Tuesday, March 10, 2009 01:12 PM

Lieberman

Are we talking Lieberman, the warmonger in America, or Lieberman the warmonger in Israel? There must be some close family ties. Obama would be wise to stay clear of him. He's the penultimate political opportunist. Somebody earlier said it best: whore.
