Rove, Miers strike deal, will testify about U.S. Attorneys

The Obama administration helped broker a deal that ended a protracted battle between the two former Bush aides and Congress.

The letters thread is now closed.

Don't Play Nice With Them

This comes the same day we hear about the secret laws and adgenda of the Bush Admin. Here are two people from the inner circle who were in on the gag (on so many levels)and probably plotted with the rest of the slime in that administration. Don't just slap their hands, slap cuffs on their wrists and expose them for the traitors they and their bosses truly are.

Will it be under oath?

Their testimony will be worthless if it isn't under oath.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009 09:17 PM

WTF??????????

Why testify in private but under oath? That is absurd. The Dems capitulate yet again... now there will be no chance to scrutinize the line of questioning and nature of responses.

Moreover, this demonstrates the weak nature of the Obama Administration who seems scared shitless of offending the Bush Administration. If I hear Obama say one more time about not looking back but looking forward...

The Dems are spineless, and it is their weakness that allowed Bush to trample the Constitution for the past 8 years. I find them to be complicit in any crimes committed in the past 8 years for they abdicated their role as a co-equal branch of government. Conyers, Leahy & Co. have allowed Rove, Miers and Bolton to give them the finger for years now by ignoring Congressional subpoenas.

Hell, all 3 have said Bush was not involved in any U.S. Attorney firing, so how could Executive Privilege even be implicated. Furthermore, Executive Privilege should be used in response to a question -- not to avoid testimony.

Pathetic.

Who cares anymore.

Rove, Miers, Bush and Cheney have won. Give it up already. When you should have hit them hard, Congress, you caved. Now your just wasting time and money.

All this folks, for only $174,000 each a year! What a bargain.

Why make a deal?

I hate the fucking tiered legal system of the U.S.! Few things make me more angry about being an American. You know what happens to me if I dismiss a subpoena? Nightstick to the head and jailtime. Makes me fucking sick.

Will they be immunized?

The question is: will they be immunized?

If they have been granted immunity, this exercise is counterproductive.

Thursday, March 5, 2009 08:34 AM

Who the hell cares?

They'll lie if they are under oath, they'll lie if they aren't under oath. Or they "won't recall" or "can't quiet remember" any valid information. Any paper trail has already been shredded and burned, any emails routed through non-white house servers and deleted.

They have already gotten away with this.

Well, Isn't This Special

Liars being questioned in closed hearings is probably "good news" for Rove and Miers but, this deal will very probably mean very bad news for lady justice.

This is a political show for the democrat faithful signifying nothing with no chance of consequences for this pair of traitors.

Rove belongs in jail

He has thumbed his nose at the law and the American people. Anything short of prison time is unsatisfactory. If he is not imprisoned the abuses will recur.

To tell the truth

Rove and Miers may testify in a closed door hearing, but is there any indication that they will tell the truth. Even an oath doesn't mean much to this pair. We the public have a right to know and everything that Rove and Miers say must be made public. We also need to get the truth.
