DeMint: Obama "world’s best salesman of socialism"

Talk of an impending socialist takeover of the U.S., and taking to the streets to stop it, is a frequent occurrence at CPAC.

The letters thread is now closed.

Newsflash: America is already a socialist country

Unemployment benefits, welfare, federal student loans, government-mandated worker benefits and protections, etc etc.

The thing is that socialism, in its current form here in the USA, isnt a BAD thing.

South Carolina seems to many crazy right-wing politicians

This Senator and the Governor both appear to be DEMINTED.

On the other hand, SC has an extremely cool state flag. (See flag picture by clicking on my signature)

DeMint Has PPE

DeMint obviously suffers from a rare form of Political Penis Envy.

Republicans: The best salesmen for failure

The GOP sold the USA two terms of George W. Bush.

They oppose the Surge!

Those guys are traitors and un-Americans for opposing Obama's budget surge.

controlling the means of production?

Is bailing out the banks and owning a large stake in them the same as owning the means of production? Doesn't socialism require the government to basically own and run industrial concerns?

Has anyone asked these know-nothing yahoos exactly what they think socialism actually has as its definition? Not that it will stop them from their red-baiting cries of "socialism" at every turn. Seems like America has had its fill of unrestrained capitalism over the last several years.

Coming from the "facilitators of fascism", "salesman of socialism" sound to me....

like a pretty goddam good compliment!

Crawl back in yer holes, ye Republican scum, the hour of reckoning is upon ye!!!

Who Is To Blame For Importing The Worst Features Of Soviet Communism?

Which administration initiated an illegal and unconstitutional program of warrantless wiretapping? Which administration instituted torture as an instrument of interrogation? Which administration launched a war of aggression on patently false premises? Which administration endeavored to govern with the least possible public scrutiny? Which party was out front in committing election fraud?

Until the Republican Party acknowledges and purges the beams in their own eyes, their bleating about the moats in the eyes of others will ring hollow with the public.

The Republican Party does have serious concerns about the Obama Administration's programs, concerns that deserve to be voiced. However, the pervasive hypocrisy of its leaders lends an intolerable moral dissonance to their complaints, so that they sound more as buffoons than serious critics.

So what is Senator DeMint proposing, exactly?

By "taking to the streets to stop America's slide into socialism" is Senator DeMint proposing making war against the government of the United States? There's a name for that and it's the only criminal charge specifically described in the Constitution. Treason. Careful, Senator. You've lost the popular majority and we don't have a aristocracy with an inborn right to rule, so you can't be a member of it. Don't let your fanaticism take you so far that you end up in front of a firing squad.

Back in the U.A.S.R.

That Georgia's always on my ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mind!

x

i wonder when ("if" is probably more realistic) these guys will realize that no one has been scared of the spectre of "creeping socialism" since oh say, 1990. i think that if you took the average person on the street and asked them "to what extent are you currently afraid of socialism" the answer would be one variant or another of "what?" (if anyone has some recent polling on this issue, please share.)

didn't they notice that no one cared when mccain was upset about socialism during the campaigns? don't they realize that not everyone furiously masturbates to red dawn every night before dinner? where have these folks been for the last 20 years?

i love forwarding this stuff to my folks who were actually born and spent a majority of their lives living in the soviet union before moving to the US. they get a good laugh out of it.

I remember one time when the right hit the streets to 'stop' socialism...

... and I think the people wore black shirts or brown shirts or silver shirts.

Friday, February 27, 2009 09:53 AM

If they keep at it

the GOP will convince Americans that socialism isn't so bad after all.

Friday, February 27, 2009 09:56 AM

What is it about South Carolina?

Why do people from South Carolina hate America so much? The Civil War and now Sen. DeMint calling for open rebellion. The troops in Iraq may be needed here.

If Only-

There was a time, not all that long ago, when Milwaukee, WI had a Socialist mayor. Heaven forbid anyone actually claim to be a Socialist now. Why is that, when some Socialism is long overdue in the US? Look to almost any other country and they take care of their citizens with some degree of socialized medicine. If they'd move Denmark closer to the equator I'd be there in a heartbeat. They have huge taxes but they get medical care, every old person has someone come in and bathe them when they need it. They are taken care of. And their economy is one of the best in the world. US citizens and residents need to realize that they do not have the best of everything. I think it is becoming abundantly clear. However, I don't live in the US anymore and don't know what US residents see on TV. CNN International surely plays different stories than those in the US. They'd never dare play the one about some of the good things in Cuba that is being broadcast by an Atlanta anchor. Pretty funny. Those people scared of socialism ought to find out about how residents of socialistic countries feel about having their needs met. They'd be surprised.

Let's be reasonable

Don't confuse Socialism with Communism,or Conservatisms with Fascism for that matter. This is a Republican Democracy or a Democratic Republic,we are all in this together In times of crisis we all give and do what we can.A national crisis can be a war,an epidemic, a natural disaster,or an economic disaster. .We have the freedom to criticize our presidents but we have the responsibility to educate ourselves about the issues and to criticize constructively. This helps us to solve the problems.Name-calling and empty rhetoric are the tools of mob rule.Senators and governors should be above that.Pundants and entertainers on both the left and the right have their place, laughter helps us too. But it's up to "We the People" to rationally decide what makes sense. The rate of change in this world can make your head spin, but there is going to be change, some of it we can control and some of it we just have to deal with, reasonably I hope
