Will Elizabeth Edwards tell all?

Former Sen. John Edwards' wife has written a new book, one that will reportedly delve into the issue of her husband's affair.

The letters thread is now closed.

How she experienced the affair?

As an accomplice in a lie to American voters?

@marcparis

I guess that's one way to look at it.

Another way to look at it is that this was a family matter, and not really my business as an American voter.

There's simply no way I'm going to find fault with Elizabeth Edwards here.

What's left to tell?

I feel as though we've gotten so much of the Edwards' personal story during their years in the national spotlight that there's really nothing left for her to say. Elizabeth: please, don't tell all, we really lost interest a while ago.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009 09:09 AM

What did she know and when did she know it?

What I want to know is whether her husband's confession to her, whenever it occurred (and that is a good question), included fatherhood of the love-child. Because so far, Edwards' friend and senior campaign staffer Andrew Young has made the claim that he is the father, and yet no father is listed on the birth certificate. Pretty wierd if the two guys were both doing her at the same time. That would be some serious "Resilience!"

I'm looking forward as well to the upcoming Ann Coulter-Elizabeth Edwards debates.

Seriously, why do people like Elizabeth Edwards do this shit, other than for the money? Why not just live out your life in quiet private dignity, or whatever dignity there is to be had? If she tours in support of this book, she's going to have some serious questions to answer and some serious 'splainin' to do.

It might have been a private "family matter" if Johnny-boy hadn't been running for, uh, President.

And it might have been allowed to drop if Mrs. Edwards wanted to be a private person.

But no. We have to listen to the Edwardses' insufferable moralizing, and their shameless manipulation of their son's death, Mrs. Edwards' cancer, etc.

And now, we got ourselves a book tour a comin'...

So pardon me while I laugh at sentiments like these:

Yes, the best way to keep personal family matters private...

...is to hawk a book about them.

Thank goodness for the National Enquirer, or we might have ended up with VP-nominee Edwards and a lovechild scandal during the middle of the campaign.

If the guy who thought Sarah Palin would be a good VP candidate is laughing at you, you've probably done something right.

How many hundreds of thousands of dollars does it cost for modern cancer treatment?

Why does it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars for modern cancer treatment?

These questions, which she can answer first hand, are of more importance to the country as a whole. I'd rather she did the talk show circuit discussing this topic instead of the affair B.S.

@marcparis

I doubt that Elizabeth Edwards would be writing about this if the National Enquirer hadn't published the story.

I'm not saying it isn't news. But, to say that she was an "accomplice" during the campaign is a little melodramatic.

And, Elephantman, spare me your faux outrage. It gets really tiresome.

Like.... Ewwww

I don't want to know. It's already a sordid enough story to make my skin crawl... man cheats on dying wife while he and said dying wife make a point of having photo ops at Wendy's every year on their anniversary.

Now I should want to hear the inside story? No. I don't want to. Have some humility if you can't feels shame.

No. No-one would have discussed her husband's cheating and lying had the National Enquirer not gotten the proof. Until someone did. In any case, that was then, and this is now. If EE really thinks this is a private matter, let her just shut the fuck up about it rather than try to get people to buy her book and her bull.

I'm not saying it isn't news. But, to say that she was an "accomplice" during the campaign is a little melodramatic.

"Why did Elizabeth Edwards drink her husband's Kool-Aid? How could she have possibly believed that her husbands affair would remain a private matter when he was running for President of the United States? Hello, the National Enquirer had already broken the story last fall. Why in fact, did she knowingly encourage her spouse to even enter the campaign when she had been fully informed about the affair for over a year? And she helped support and propagate John Edwards' image as a devoted husband and family man."

It looks like I am pressing a few buttons with my Edwards comments. Good.

Because there is no one I find more loathsmome, more hateful, more mendacious than the Edwardses. And of course it starts with John Edwards' career as a "bad baby" birth trauma litigator, suing obstetricians and hospitals throughout North Carolina. And then on to his being the chosen political weapon for trade unions and trial lawyers all over America.

Are you my father-in-law?

Seriously, you sound just like him. You guys sure know your talking points!

I'm not that guy. I put that story to rest so long ago, I had thought that virtually all Salonisti had given up on it. It was actually fun for a while, with people presuming that we were one and the same, without any basis in fact. (Never let the facts get in the way of a good story among the far-left netroots.) Anyway, you're wrong. Happy, now that you have gotten that out of your system? I'm here to help.

"Because there is no one I find more loathsmome, more hateful, more mendacious than the Edwardses"

Really?

REALLY?

How about W?

How about Cheney?

Nuff said, I think. Because you can't trump the last eight years when it comes to loathsomeness, hatefulness, and mendacity.
