Fazed

"Phased," is what G.W. Bush himself would write.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:15 PM

This proves it

34% of the country is just plain stupid. OK, maybe they don't despise him, but APPROVE of his work? Even on the best days the guy is a C- President.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:15 PM

He doesn't seem fazed

"Phased," I suppose, would apply to Star Trek methods of transportation.

As for the substance, nah, Bush doesn't really care. His heavenly Father told him he's done just fine.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:24 PM

I think you meant "fazed"

...although "phased" -- as in out-of-phase or aphasia -- seems poetically apt.

This Criminal

Never gave a damn about anything save his rich friends and buddies. To hell with the people, the law, foreigners. He did as he damn well pleased and I hope the motherfucker is prosecuted. The Heavenly Father might just damn him to Hell to fry forever for his sins.

Bush approval rating skyrockets 9%, highest in months!

Shrub's Victory Lap and Legacy Rehabilitation Tour conflicts with his alleged indifference to how people view him.

"'I don't give a darn,' Bush responded." = more lies from this pathetic waste of space.

Where's my shoe?

Frightening

How many of you, like me, are frightened by the fact that 34% of people in this country don't get it? A good argument can be made that Bush is America's worst president. How can 1/3rd of Americans not just be OK with that, but approve of it? What does that say about America?

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:47 PM

Prove it.

Are they polling military bases or something? Some deep pocket of True Believers? Because everyone I know or can think of considers Bush43 to be the worst fuckup of a President the US has EVER seen.

Thirty-four percent? Where are these people? I find it impossible to believe that 34% of US citizens find Bush43 palatable in any way, shape or form.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:48 PM

Who ARE these people?

Yes, that's what gets me, too. One-third of this country actually APPROVES of him, not just like, votes Republican and tolerates him, or hates gay people and abortion-seekers and puts up with him... approves. That is simply frightening.

Maybe a full 1/3 of the country directly profits from the defense, oil, or financial services industries? Hmm.

34% Approve Of Bush Performance?

That is not surprising. These are the same folks that watch professional wrestling and actually believe that it is a real sport, and not an act.

These are the folks that believe blowhards like Hannity are journalists.

These are the result of our failing school systems.

So, I'm not surprised at the 34% number.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 01:00 PM

This is an insult to Nixon

Who was actually no more corrupt, and a lot less incompetent.

I'm inclined to agree that 34% is an exaggerated number.

"Approval" polls tend to be generous.

And the ones where Bush does randomly better get touted in the media.

It's a landslide in politics

"How can 1/3rd of Americans not just be OK with that, but approve of it? What does that say about America?"

That we're getting smarter. More than half of the country approved of the guy just four years ago. No one can really expect a country as diverse as ours -- and as segmented (North/South, Red/Blue, etc.)-- to be unanimous in our hate or love for anybody or anything. By political and historical measurements, 34% is a profoundly low number. Given how discouraged I was about the political sensibilities of Americans in 2004, I'm completely tickled with 34%.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 01:06 PM

I wnat to know who these people are!!!

I'm amazed that 34 per cent can be that uninformed, and that it has actually gone up. Please tell me what there is to approve of, if you can. Or, is this just out of sympathy because he's trying so hard to explain how he has done nothing wrong.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 01:16 PM

Maybe they did a lot of polling in Oklahoma

This is the only state McCain won every single county, and republicans swept the state houses. Republicans took control of the state senate for the first time in history, and their first order of business was to block autism being covered by insurance companies. People here get screwed sideways by republicans, and just smile and ask for more, as long as they drape themselves in the flag and say they're christians, I guess nothing else matters.

Hypoctites

I can tell you who most of the 34% that approve of Bush are. They are the 88 percent of evangelical's who give nothing to their churches--that's right only 12 percent of envangelical's give any of their money to their church but they are the ones who say that if one doesn't agree with them that you are not a christian and are against this country. There is one word for them HYPOCRITE.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 01:52 PM

Worst approval since Nixon

These same 34% also like Nixon.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 01:54 PM

Fazed

Thanks for catching the spelling mistake on fazed. It's been fixed.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 02:02 PM

Stubborn and consistent to the bitter end.

"'I don't give a darn,' Bush responded."

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 02:26 PM

bookends

Who cares what you think

. . . tick tock tick tock . . .

I don't give a darn

Guess he'll go back to ranching.

It was all a show anyhow. The boy who took the prize from his brother to give the finger to his dad, who wanted nothing more than to get rid of taxes and punder the environment and instead handed over our WMD to Cheney to play with, now will finally leave us alone - to clean up the mess as much as possible.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 02:40 PM

I'm confused

Who are these people who comprise the 34% who think he's doing a good job?

There just aren't that many people who work in the defense, pharmaceutical or petroleum industries.

I soooo don't get it.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 03:06 PM

Approving that he's leaving

I'll bet some of these people are approving of the fact that he's finally leaving. It lets people look at him a little more kindly. And the fact that he has, by all indications, been pretty cooperative with regard to the transition probably helps some too.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 05:05 PM

Of course he doesn't "give a damn"...

He's out the door in a week. Meanwhile the rest of the country will spend the next three decades fighting about his legacy the way my parents generation has done with Vietnam. Thanks a lot, douche. Who are these 34% dead enders? Their my nieghbors and let's just say their standards for success are not Earthly based if that gives you any idea. These are the same people who think Sarah Palin would be so qualified. Yes, the right really does want a theocracy. Or at least their voters do.

New Gallup Poll Shows 34% of Americans are Retarded

What a coincidence.

Thursday, January 15, 2009 09:43 AM

I know the 34%

These are the people who insulate themselves by associating only with people in their evangelical churches, who only get their news from Fox, Rush and Sean and who think that blacks and Latinos exist only to bag their groceries and mow their lawns. They exist in their own reality and zealously guard against dissenting opinion. They're told endlessly by the selective "media" outlets they listen to that all the world's problems can be traced back to liberals. Then they regurgitate this insight with other true believers, who nod dutifully and then repeat the lies within a closed loop system. Nothing penetrates the wall they have created against the outside world where the other 66% of us live. Simply put, they are little more than a brainwashed cult.
