I don't think Reid and the Democrats are wasting any political capital by not seating Burris. Nobody will be voted out of office if Burris isn't seated. This is a distracting side show, nothing more. It only becomes a catastrophe if Obama and Reid cave in.

This could have been avoided if Obama had waited until right before the inauguration to resign his Senate seat.

Talk about Senators with ADD. The entire US economy, military, environment, world reputation and position and Two active wars should be holding the attention of the Democrats in the Senate. Hey, but Harry Reid doesn't work for Obama. Interesting, who does he work for. Obviously not the Democratic party or the citizens of the US. He has to spend what little political capital the Democrats have in the public consciousness trying to stop an appointment made by someone he told not to. We should all be patient and wait for Harry and his sidekick Durbin as they make sure that Blogo does not get one over on them. I wonder how they are figuring on handling the different lawsuits that should start in the courts as soon as they turn Burris away next week after he got "the broom of the wicked witch of the west" (Jesse Whites signature). I wonder how they plan on fighting the injunction that will be filed against Pat Quinn to keep him from trying to fill a seat that is not vacant since the Governor appointed Burris before he was impeached or removed. It should be a lovely news story to played and replayed about the two dummies that felt having 59 Democratic Senators was not enough to feel good. Better to make a meaningless fight for a meaningless principal and go with 57 instead. Is there a way to pull the SOS certification on Reid and Durbin. We need new (some) leadership.

That said, maybe if Reid drags this out for a while maybe we can finally have him removed as Head of the Senate.

He should atone for his sin by standing trial for attempted murder and abuse of power.

Burris sent an innocent man to death row who was exonerated eleven years later. He ignored his own staff's warnings regarding the probable innocence of this man.

Obama's civil rights agenda features "sentencing reform" as a bullet point.

That's how Burris should be made to atone for his sin. The Democrats should work him over with a figurative truncheon until they turn him into a leading advocate for Obama's sentencing reform agenda in Congress.

IF Burris is seated, he should be required to put an asterisk next to his listing as a United States Senator which he will immediately add to his Monument-To-Himself mausoleum. Sheesh, America. Is this really the best we can do?

What would you do if you stepped into a steaming pile of dog doo? OK. You're a sane, rational American adult. You'd take your shoes off and find a place to hose them off. You'd rid yourself of the filth and the stench ASAP.

Unless, of course, you were an Illinois voter. If you're an Illinois voter, you lick the shitty shoes clean and ask for more. Upon the notification that there's no more shit to lick, you holler "RACISM!!"

Harry Reid and the Dimocrats don't have a legal leg to stand on in this matter. And now that the Illinois Supreme Court has removed their dumb excuse, they'll have to seat him!

I find it curious that Harry has finally decided to grow a pair against a Democrat. How different things might have been if he'd had some brass cojones while Bush was running the country into the ditch. Fool!! No matter what one thinks of the seemingly bordering-on-insanity Blago, he's been making the Dems look like a bunch of idiots at every turn. And why, may I ask, does Fitzgerald need more time to investigate before indicting Blago if he's been under surveillance for at least a couple of years? I suspect if Blago eventually goes down, he'll be bringing folks with him.

Harry Reid is silent but his deputy, Dick Durbin, makes the astonishing statement that he doesn't care that the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that Mr. Burris does not need the signature of the Secretary of State to validate his appointment by the governor. Mr. Durbin says he's a man of the Senate and he will insist on the signature before Burris can be seated. He then said everything should be on hold until the impeachment trial is over and a new governor could then appoint the new senator. This sort of behavior is shows how the Democratic Party snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. Why oh why does the senate Democratic leadership draw a line in the sand about not seating Burris? The world is going down in flames and these idiots grab headlines by standing in the doorway refusing to seat someone legally appointed. They betray an awful sense of priorities, a disregard for the Constitution (like GWB?)and a meanness of spirit that is very, very ugly.

I'm an ex-Democrat, and when I see this kind of leadership it reinforces my decision to leave a party which for eight long years was gutless, clueless, and scandalously disorganized.

I wish President-elect Obama a lot of luck. He will need it for dealing with these clowns.
