He's right

Susan Collins, Jim Bunning, Jeff Sessions, the soon to be departed Norm Coleman, the recently departed Domenici.... there are any number of clowns, stooges and halfwits in the Senate who make Burris look like at least an average member of that august body. Whatever he wants, there's no way this guy can win a primary in two years. He's a caretaker, a seat filler, whom Obama can manage with a few flattering phones calls. Seat him and be done with this nonsense, and make crazy Blagojevich an Illinois story, not a national one.

As for this: "- rather than the decision to appoint him against the wishes of Senate leadership -- "

Say what you want about Blago, and I think his impeachment should be fast-tracked, which Senators are chosen, by voters or in special circumstances like this one according to "the wishes of the Senate leadership". If Harry Reid has proven anything in the last two years, it's that his "wishes" can be breezily ignored with no consequences.

MLK's Dream of Entitlement Derived From Character-- Skin Color NOT!

During the recent presidential campaign much was heard about which candidate or candidates played or attempted to play "the race card" on the most tenuous of topical projections; yet at each opportunity the legacy of Martin Luther King was invoked by all candidates of both parties. In the present Burgess seating farce however, the most memorable and enduring of Rev. King's lines have been totally ignored--and sadly by some of his African-American colleagues and apologists in the House, and a in the Black Caucus. Everyone should reflect upon his sage advice and poetic wisdom in presenting an image of an America "...where persons are judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." For Burgess and his apologists to claim a right from the demented "legal" derivative from Blago's absence of character is to become a tar baby of that demented soul, the polar opposite of MLK's sainted dream. Remember the evils against which MLK devoted his life were "legal" at the time.

Apologies to Mr. Burris and all. I accidently hit Publish...when I intended to hit Preview to edit by correcting the erroneous name "Burgess".

I Don't Like the Visuals

they should go ahead and seat him. It's a distraction we just don't need right now.
