Has anyone read anything that explains why Obama didn't want Dean to continue as DNC Chairman? I think he was willing, did a good job, and clearly supported Obama over Clinton.
Dean even said we should be even handed in the Israel Palestine conflict. Just for that he had to go. Obama is trying to run a centrist government, too bad it will hit him one day that there are no centrist policy positions, only people who claim to centrists.
...the victory of Rahm Emmanuel and the DLC. No punishment is too great for Howard Dean, who committed the unforgivable sin of being right about the 50-state strategy. Not to mention that he didn't play by the usual (i.e. "The Democrats always fight lamely and lose") rules.
Dean will forever be persona non grata to the Washington political and media elite.
Very disappointing. I mean, I know Dean intended to step down, but it still sucks -- the Democrats' victories of 2006 and 2008 are truly a result of Dean's vision for the party's organization, and the DLC shitbirds have ridden in on his coattails, trying to poach that victory for themselves. Dean deserves better. The whole country deserves better.
Kiss a progressive agenda goodbye. "Centrism" in American-style politics is anything but centrist. If it was actually centrist, it would appear radical to the political elites in DC. If the Democrats think they can fake it for four years, they're only fooling themselves. If they won't provide honest, grassroots, populist reform, then some other party will have to. What a shame. Never has a mandate for change been so mawkishly disregarded by a winning party. Pathetic.
From the Bottom of my Heart.
Great! Not too many constituencies left to toss under that bus now.
Isn't that a position that is elected from the local Democratic party committees? I seem to recall someone from the DLC was running against Howard Dean...
