... BULLSHIT!
I'm gonna believe Obama on this one. Since we know the Governor's phone was tapped the whole time, it would do Obama little good to lie about this.
Even if he had talked to the Governor, the Governor's comments on wiretapped calls have made it clear that Obama didn't offer him anything...so Obama is in the clear whether he spoke directly to the Governor or not. Why risk being caught out in a lie?
You assume they spoke on the phone. There are other ways to communicate.
Again, the post-fact denial always reeks of bullshit, not matter who issues it.
Both Obama and Axelrod are lying.
Obama and the governor were not close...right?
(since the gov. refers to BHO as "motherfucker", I think Obama would sense that kind of hostility... wouldn't he?)
Axelrod had no incentive to lie a month ago. He has every incentive to lie now.
Gee, that's a tough one to figure out.
Who is their lawyer, Larry Craig?
LOL. "I was mistaken". That's sort of like "I don't recall" when testifying in front of Congress, isn't it? It's not often that Obama/Axelrod screw up. Either a) Axelrod simply makes up "facts" about what Obama is doing (I wonder what else he has made up) or b) Obama was lying when he said that he never spoke with the governor. One of them is lying, or has lied. I wonder which one.
The really funny part is that it really doesn't matter if Obama spoke with the Governor at all. It would be perfectly appropriate for him to have a discussion with the man about who should replace him when he leaves the Senate. So why should this be an issue at all? Obama has no need to "Pay to Play" in this case, and the governor made it quite clear that Obama was not doing so. Lies for no reason do not portend well for the future of this administration.
And, as it was with you in the primaries, every little thing is a barometer of how Obama's administration, isn't it?
There are many ways to communicate, but most of them are MORE traceable than a phone call. Did Obama send him a note? Send him an email? Go visit him in person? Are these likely to be any less traceable than a phone call?
More importantly, "-- ? ≠ !," did Obama "talk to the governor?" This is what Axelrod says is inaccurate. If so, how? Phone or in person seem the only two methods. So, when have they met in private since Obama resigned his seat?
I wouldn't say every little thing was a barometer for the administration. I would say that big things, like reversing his positions on important issues, his appointments to his cabinet, getting caught in blatant lies .... those kinds of things tell us a lot about a person. I can't wait until he's actually in office. The next few years are going to be a lot of fun. I love watching authoritarian's heads explode as they try to fit too many contradictory ideas in. I used to browse free republic to marvel at the ability of human beings to rationalize. Now I browse the Salon letters and Daily Kos.
Fasten your seat belts. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
It just starts to smack of reading tea leaves after awhile. I personally have put no faith in astrology, nor fortune cookies, so I'm willing to "wait and see."
It could easily be that their staffs' were talking- maybe because Obama knew what a slime the govenor was and thought better of dealing with him directly. surely even without direct conversation - because it is Obama's former seat- the names had been floated between camps. All that could have easily happened without them speaking directly. In fact, it would make sense especially if it was Rahm Emanuel who provided the info that allowed prosecutors to jumb on Blago.
But that is certainly not as much fun as conspiracy theories. But I do have to wonder why this would make a bit of difference to someone who thought Obama was not elligible to be president anyway....But conspiracy theorists are not know for their consistency or logic so I guess I've answered my own question.
It would have made perfect sense for Obama to have spoken to the guv about the Senate seat, and he should have just said so. But to lie about it just makes it something that won't go away.
Tick .... tick ... tick.
What word can they append the "-gate" suffix this time?
It's only a matter of time before his diagnosis, either recently in the past, or due to his arrest becomes known.
He has the classic "look" of a Bipolar in a "manic/up/super-energy" state right now, and it explains his seeming inability to measure the risk from personal ruin with any sense of logic or reason.
What will confuse and confound so many is the notion a bipolar could be elected to any office, let alone governor.
The irony is that misperception.
Bipolars are often the high achievers, and easily exceed the typical individual's accomplishment.
It's ONLY when they slip into a "down" state (deep depression)
OOOOR
when they slide the other way, from a functional "hypo-manic" and present a full blown "bipolar manic state."
Hypo manics are rather stable high-achievers, which makes it harder for the typical individual to believe this has happened.
(hypo manics high energy, almost superhuman but rarely ever have downs. Bipolars seem similar but their high energy states are so extreme they cannot be maintained permanently, eventually-days or years it varies-they suffer causes emotional blow/burnouts resulting in an emotional tumble from the heavens to depression hell.)
Thus the easy explanation for why up to now Blagojevish has been able to overcome and succeed up until recently.
Until recently he was a high functioning Hypomanic.
Something has forced his mental state to gradually grow more disconnected until he could no longer function and his state collapsed from high-performing hypo manic to a full blown, true Bipolar Manic state.
And with that, he started to believe no one could touch him, but like most bipolars he was all to obvious, even though he continues to believe he is invisible and will win this gambit sooner or later.
