It's not cheap to look like a real American

All told, more than $330,000 was spent during the campaign on Sarah Palin's appearance and clothing for her and her family.

The letters thread is now closed.

I need details

I want to know exactly what was purchased at Victoria's secret. Some pictures would help.

@ adelito

That's gross.

@adelito

Amen to that!

Let's see some leg here.

Friday, December 5, 2008 08:53 AM

STOP, ALREADY

It is the media that keeps obsessing over Palin. So what if the clothes figure is higher? We know, by now, ad nauseum, that the GOP bought her thousands in clothes. Far be it from me (an ardent Obama supporter) to defend the GOP, but if they wanted to buy her clothes, it was their call. NOW, HOWEVER, let it go! Seems like the MSM just wants to keep talking about this awful woman, and will not let US REST IN PEACE about her. When there is something substantive (key word substantive) to talk about, yeah, okay.

$42,000 for the hair stylist, huh?

That's 150 $400 haircuts. Wonder if the press will notice?

Also, how soon before Stinky gizzard comes in here to tell us it's really all about the Obama birth certificate?

Trailer Trash doesn't all live in trailers

Greetings

Proof positve that you can't cheat an honest man comes from the Pahlin Family fleecing the RNC. Scheming Rube Trash meet Big City Crooks and its pretty much a draw ;)

Toys R Us and Vicky Secret...

The mind boggles, Caribou Babe must have thought she won every game on Prices Right plus the big damn showcase

A scheming ggreedy smugly ignorant bitch, yep the exactly standard bearer for the GOP 2012

Friday, December 5, 2008 08:59 AM

@sayitain'tso

The fact of the matter is that it was NOT the RNC's call to spend the money in that way on Palin and her family. It was a clear and direct violation of McCain-Feingold.

When a Democrat gets in trouble, the entire rule of law is in jeopardy, if we don't go after them. When a Republican breaks the law, it's, "let's get over it."

I'm frankly tired of being told to, "get over," blatant law-breaking from our highest officials.

If you're totally over it, and don't want to hear anything further, the X button at the top right corner of your browser will do the trick.

I find it hard to get too upset about this.

Everyone has known since the Nixon-Kennedy debates that a candidate needs to look good on TV, and this is no more of a "story" than John Edwards's haircut. As for Victoria's secret, they do make good, practical underwear as well as the scarlet lace peignoirs, and a good bra can make the difference between looking professional on the one hand or slutty or frumpy on the other.

Toys-R-Expensive

OK, can somebody (Elephantman? tiberius? something_stinks?) tell me why the Palin staff had to shop at Toys-R-Us to properly clothe the presumptive Veep? Was she buying a Xena the Warrior Princess outfit for Election Night?

Somebody?

Friday, December 5, 2008 09:02 AM

because it's illegal

sayitain'tso , it matters because they're trying to determine whether this was illegal- which it's becoming pretty clear that it was.

All Palin, All the time

Really though. I can't help but feel like we're blowing our loads here over Sarah Palin. Not just here, but the entire freaking media seems to have an obsession with her.

I think we're shooting ourselves in the foot. We can't let her get discredited this early in the game. We need her to run in 2012! How is she going to do that if she's convicted under McCain-Feingold?

It's not too late. We need to get on board the "she's a victim of the liberal media elites" bandwagon. Let her be martyred, get her own talk show, etc. As long as she doesn't completely embarrass herself (easier said than done), the Republicans will have the most ridiculously incompetent presidential candidate since...well..since their last one.

Palin/Plumber 2012

It's not cheap to look like a real President and get elected.

All the money burned on television spots giving us a good impression of Obama without any substance whatsoever was money well spent.

Isn't it a Guiness World Record for money spent on tv ads to elect a President?

OH LOOK!

IT'S SARAH PALIN!

WHAT A HORRIBLE PERSON!

/everyone join in now

CRUCIFY HER! CRUCIFY HER! CRUCIFY HER!

/who paid for Obama's chartered jet flight to visit his dying grandmother?

Friday, December 5, 2008 09:25 AM

@MAV

The Toys-R-Us near me carries children's clothes, and they were probably not all that expensive.

It's not overkill to point out, over and over, that the woman who was touted as an "ordinary American" (as opposed to That One who lives in a big bad blue city in a neighborhood with way too many bookstores and grocery stores that carry arugula and other subversive leafy greens) was, with her family, wearing clothes that had cost twice as much as some of the (possibly foreclosed) houses belonging to small RNC donors, who unwittingly financed her shopping spree.

Come on. Maybe wearing consignment shop clothes wasn't necessary, but she could have gone to Talbots, for pity's sake, if she wanted to be "just like" her potential constituents but dress just a little better.

Send In...

It's never too early to point out that a clown is a clown.

It's never too early to point out that a lying hypocrite is a Republican.

It's never too late to point out that the RNC broke the law.

Regardless of what the Republican trolls on these boards say, let's take the clown out of the big tent and show her for what she is.

Victoria's Secret

I'd really like to think that the Vice President of the United States wears better underwear than can be found at Victoria's Secret. Ew. Cheap ass nasty nylon crap made in china. Well, I guess you are what you wear...

Friday, December 5, 2008 10:19 AM

$42,000 for hair..............

and she still looks like a middle school cheerleader?

Friday, December 5, 2008 10:28 AM

Palin is piss poor compared to Obama

/who paid for Obama's chartered jet flight to visit his dying grandmother?

-- something stinks

Actually there are a good number of articles that came out today on how Obama generated record funds that could amount to just about $100 billion dollars. No joke. However, the actual totals are still being counted. Currently, he does have about $30 million left over, but he's very restricted on what he can do with the money. Most likely, it will go back to the DNC for upcoming campaigns. Where did that money come from? People like me and other supporters who gave money to his campaign. Grassroots, baby. Remember that record amount of campaign money that came flooding in after Sarah Palin was named McCain's running mate in September and October? So it's a pretty good possibility that my money was used to help Obama fly to see his grandma, which is perfectly fine by me. No complains on my end. I just wish Obama could use that extra $30 million for a good cause but he can only do so much with the restrictions. As for Sarah Palin, freeloader is thy name. On an added note, when she was in Georgia, she did wear the same white jacket she before the election so it shows that she's not really getting too many new clothes nowadays. With the change in hairstyle and makeup, she's clearly not using a professional stylist either. I'm not sure how she can get new things with Alaska becoming in some serious debt thanks to low oil prices (but yay for the rest of us!).
