Hillary Clinton's big day

When President-elect Barack Obama announces his national security team Monday morning, the spotlight will be on Clinton.

The letters thread is now closed.

Quick question -- How did Hillary travel to Chicago? Was it on a commercial airliner, or a "private Luxury jet"?

Just aksin'. Everybody made such a big deal out of the auto executives having used their companies' jets.

Quick answer

Who cares?

Hilary isn't looking for a $25 billion dollar handout from the Feds.

Monday, December 1, 2008 07:49 AM

Bill Richardson? Hello?

Bill Richardson really stuck his neck out and gave Obama an important endorsement when he really needed it. His support also helped win New Mexico in the primary.

All this as a person who was close to the Clintons. He took a big risk with his early support for Obama.

What does he get for this support?

Monday, December 1, 2008 07:51 AM

Correction

Should have said Richardson's support helped win New Mexico in the general election. Not the primary. Carry on.

Nice one bignose

That took only 3 minutes to shut down that idiotic statement.

Monday, December 1, 2008 07:56 AM

No, I presume that Hillary is going to want a lot of dough for various projects she may have in mind. And the federal government is a lot further into the red than the carmakers are.

Anyway, I just want to see how much of a routine convenience a private jet is for some of the people who criticized the automakers. People like ABC's Brian Ross, who "broke" the story. And his bosses at ABC, the Disney Company executives. People like David Letterman, Jay Leno, Tom Brokaw, Katie Couric. The corporate bosses at CBS and NBC, in addition to the ABC/Disney people.

It's a very long list.

@gazellintexas

Isn't Richardson on tap for Commerce Sec?

It's not as glamorous as SoS but it's not nuthin either. Commerce will be a big deal this administration, given the current stat of the economy. Richardson will have an opportunity to shine.

Hillary's speech was great

I liked how she said God Bless Obama...actually made me well up for a second. What a great team.

Thank goodness

I am so glad Elephantman is back to point out the completely trivial and meaningless.

Monday, December 1, 2008 08:36 AM

I didn't see it. Did Bill Richardson appear with Hillary? Of all of the Monicagate figures, Richardson was by far my favorite.

Bill Richardson was the guy whom Bill Clinton and Vernon Jordan called to get Monica a job in New York City. It's really too bad that we have tape recordings of the banal conversations between Monica and Linda Tripp, but none of Clinton/Jordan and Clinton/Richardson.

The thought of Bill Richardson sharing a stage with Hillary (as has happened a number of times previously, including this year's campaign) always gives me a good laugh.

Wow

Monica? Really Elephantman? You are reaching now. She is as irrelevant as betamax.

ajk2821...A corollary to your post..

Monica? Really Elephantman? You are reaching now. She is as irrelevant as...Wait for it...Republicans.

Did Chris Matthews have stroke?

Or did he realize that all his bills are paid forever?

Monday, December 1, 2008 11:34 AM

Why Alex

What a lovely and condescending headline. Congratulations.

Monday, December 1, 2008 12:20 PM

Not just Hillary's, Alex

I would say this is a big day for all of us. This is especially good news for the women and children of the world. Hillary has advocated for them all her life. That is only one of the many qualifications that make her a great choice. My esteem for Obama has grown immensely.

The media got so much leverage out of the historic primary race between Hillary and Obama. It's really amusing but increasingly tiresome to see them continue to fight it long long after the rest of us have moved on and are ready to get to work.

early Christmas present...

Well Hillary sure did get a nice early Christmas president. But i am not convinced Hillary is the man for the job. The liberal illuminati could be in some real trouble when all Obama's picks, not based on merit but on politics go horribly south. I guess we will see soon enough.
