Palin holds a press conference -- no, seriously

Sarah Palin attacked the media, defended Republican governors and then put an abrupt end to her first real national press conference.

The letters thread is now closed.

Couldn't this "maverick" hold her own press conference?

As a citizen who the press would be interested in speaking to, and asking questions of, it seems that Palin could rent a hall or just stand on the steps of a public building and have a damn press conference.

The press would be there, guarantied - she could say what she wants and be there as long as she wants. It seems like she is letting herself be "handled" - not much of a "maverick" after all.

Bleh....

For crying out loud...

just STOP GIVING THIS WOMAN COVERAGE!!!!!!!

She's doling out the sound bites and the media is lapping them up like trained rats. CNN has four stories on her crap on the front page ALONE.

Can't Salon be a leader and be the first to go cold turkey on this headcase?

Note to the GOP: it IS possible to have too much publicity. And she's proving it.

First, she won't talk...

Now we can't shut her up.

I liked it better before.

The Saturday Night Live connections just won't end

Sarah Palin -- the "Not Ready for Prime Time" Governor and Vice Presidential Nominee.

Wow, when Rick Perry graps her elbow and guides her fore and aft...

...she seems very much his animated marionette. Perry would never have treated a male governor in that manner, and the once-fearsome Sarahcuda might have insisted on a bit of dignity there.

Talking of Extreme Partisanship!!

After repeating over and over her lies about Obama "palling with terrorists," stoking a lynch mob mentality that had the Secret Service very worried about possible attacks on Obama, does Palin even understand how *obscenely* hypocritical it is for her to say that we should avoid extreme partisanship...my eyes turn red and start bulging and steam starts to leak out of my ears. These are shameless, moronic, possibly evil things for her to be saying.

Republican Party Principles:

War

Torture

Debt

More debt

Sexuality Inequality

Even more debt

And, of course, the rich get richer!

hmph

At this point it's difficult for me to believe that she's being silenced by paternally protective party members. At this point, she can say whatever she wants because she's not campaigning. If she appears muzzled or protected, it's because she chooses to be or chooses to appear that way.

Country First?

It's extraordinary to me that this woman, who just lost a national campaign, is not only refusing to step off the national stage, but going out of her way to court more coverage and make her voice heard. If she really wants to "put the campaign behind her" and do what's right for the country, why can't she start by doing the decent thing and shutting the hell up? With all the appearances and coverage, you'd never know who won and who lost the election. Seriously -- I thought there was time-honored tradition in this country of election-night losers allowing the winning party and administration-elect to sort of, you know, dominate the news cycle for a while.

And by the way, I'm sure Americans will be turning for guidance -- on issues like health care reform, the economy, national security -- to that state that's always been a leader in these things: Alaska.

she has nothing to say, and is still repeating attacks from a losing campaign!

I was going to write more, but I think this site says all there needs to be said:

The slapping down of Sarah. Hopefully we won't notice.

Since the election, she's been on every major network hawking her ambitions and trashing the press, and subly, her handling. She has repeatedly says she'll "plough through the door", ask the lord, grab what she can, and that she is definitely campaigning all on her own for 2012.

Suddenly it's not about 2012, and it's all about the team, and the Governors.

Someone told her to shut up. But had to give her a little podium so it wouldn't be obvious.

Goo Goo Ga Joob

Thanks, Sarah.

Aww...

Pretty Ricky Perry (or as some of us here call him, "Guvner Goodhair") looked like he was jealous of all the attention that Palin was getting!

Warms my heart.

Palin 2012 bumper sticker

Everybody remember that this is MY IDEA, but I'd love to see someone print these up so I can buy one:

NOMINATE PALIN in 2012

... because we want Obama to have 8 years!

Siriusly, keep putting her out there! Let her get the nomination in 2012. She'll just hold the Republican party back in 1980 that much longer, and let the Democratic party become that much stronger.

Nice catch on Perry grabbing her by the elbow -- looked like a stage father putting his daughter up to recite poetry, then pulling her back before she embarrassed herself.

public speaking annoyances

One of the biggest annoyances I have with public figures of spokespeople is the "we're not going to talk about..." lines. Palin does it here when she says she "doesn't want to talk about strategy within a campaign that is over." During the campaign, the corresponding line is "We're not going to talk about strategy of an active campaign."

When there are investigations the standard line is "we're not going to talk about an ongoing investigation." When the investigation is over, it's, "We consider the investigation closed, we're not going to comment on it further." So when is a time to comment on it, and when is the press going to *ahem* press these issues.

Attention Whore Strategy

I think I've figured out her strategy. She knows we're all waiting for her to spout the One Big Stupid Whopper, the reason anybody besides her own lapdogs continues to watch her.

So she's doling out mere Inanities, Banalities and Redundancies to tantalize the rest of us, ensuring that we'll stick around like, well, lapdogs.

I wish she'd hurry up and do The Deed already so we can stop seeing her silly self all over the place.

Four questions from the press!

Well, it's a bit late, but it's a start. The real question is, why is she still hanging around? Shouldn't she be gone by now?

Thursday, November 13, 2008 11:52 AM

What's the difference between that particular hockey mom and GW Bush? Lipstick

I don't understand 90% of what that woman says. She's either lacking the desire, or lacking the ability, to clearly communicate. To me, it's as if she assembles hundreds of words of supposed import or relevance to her topic, in no particular, or completely random, order, and calls it a speech. I've heard and seen this before... for the past eight years from the current occupant.

Am I the only one who views Palin as a female version of George W Bush? Why the continued media fascination with this intellectual lightweight? Enough already!
