she's going to do already. Now that Steven's is being re-elected, once the senate dumps him, you will see her appoint herself to replace him and run for his seat 90 days later. With the high amount of Republicans here, she'll get in. You can take that to the bank. We know this woman here in Ak, and she's all about Sarah. Just watch. She's a coniving *itch. Glad she didn't get to be VP. It was a great day for the USA when she lost. Thank god the rest of America is smarter than this bunch up here.
If we keep talking about Palin, readerx2 will come back! You know he's out there . . . lurking . . . just like Gollum.
"Must have the Precioussssss . . . ."
Sarah who?
She can't appoint anyone to replace him, especially herself. Alaska law requires a special election. Now, she could decide to run in the the special election but she can't appoint anyone to the seat.
If the senate should remove Stevens, then someone has to fill the seat until a new election occurs in 90 days. She has to, fill the seat for that time, and could put herself in for that time and have the benefit of the 90 days to further her career. Yes she would have to win the special election, but still she could be in for the 90 days leading up and gain a more decisive advantage by being in that position during the special election. That has been discussed and that is how she would, or Cuddy, or whomever would be running, get a step up on anyone from the democratic party or independant running for Steven's seat. Even if she lost the spec-election, she would have that tag (senator) by her name in the future.
Well, I guess that could happen but it doesn't seem likely. Would she have to give up the governorship? I realize Palin is about as graspingly ambitious as it gets, and now that she's had a taste of the "big time" it's going to be hard to keep her "down on the farm," so to speak, but I don't see her appointing herself to fill in until a special election could be held. There are too many things about it that would be beyond her control and I don't think she likes it when she can't control the outcome.
she might be ok. I don't think she is any dumber than Bush, just a less privilidged background.
IQ anyone?
"I'll give it a shot, and add a couple more. Though I must note that I am not a professional odds-maker, bookie, or otherwise associated with the honorable profession of gambling."
OK
"Palin winds up as a commentator on Fox or some other three-feet-to-the-right-of-Attila-the-Hun program?
2:1
(Full disclosure: I got peeps at Fox who say this is already in discussions, but no decision will be made until January.)"
2:1 is very reasonable then.
"Levi and Bristol never get married?
100:1"
That seems high, but considering the possibility of being a commentator, you're probably right.
But we shall see....
"Odds they will marry and divorce within 5 years of wedding date:
2:1"
I hadn't thought of that but it's a good one and probably more like 1.5 to 1...
"Palin pops out yet another kid before she's done?
No chance. Had we seen her medical records, you'd know why."
????? What's the story? Did they take out the baby carriage and put in a play pen?
"She runs for governor of Alaska again and is reelected?
20:1"
Seems high; remember how popular she is there.
"She takes over Stevens' Senate seat via special election:
5:1"
Agreed. She's had a taste of the world beyond Wasilla, and being in DC would be a good move towards 2012.
A twisted part of me wants her to run in 2012 just to see BHO debate her.
"She "writes" a book?
1:1 - the deal is already in the works."
I'm not surprised.
Thanks
Palin got the taste - she relished her 15 minutes of national fame. And - the wingnut punditry will need a fresh shot of adrenaline. What better way to maintain those clothes, the makeup servants, the captive hairdressers, than marry a pseudo-political career to right wing punditry? She manages a script perfectly - she was "made in heaven" for scripted environments. Indeed, it is a strength. The more cerebral types do not survive scripted positions. She has the looks, the lack of original thought and the craving for publicity that will not allow her to disappear into snows of Alaska and grandmotherhood. I fear that at my age - I will be dealing with the Snow Queen until I no longer deal with anyone.
I tried to find another reference to her saying this. I googled it, but all the hits pointed right back to your post. Can you give us another reference, so we can confirm she said it with more than your say-so? Thanks.
Wow! You can't miss the brilliance in a mind like this when these kinds of observations tumble out.
Gimme a break! Sarah Palin can't think her way out of a complicated sentence let alone through the solution to a national crisis. We dodged a bullet when McCain lost in the big one.
If she does come back to the national political scene maybe it'll be as a Shopper's Guide to one of the candidates, eh?
P.S. I heard she's all for Renewable Energy Sources: her favorite phrase is CHARGE IT!
Now you're gettin' it. Nice of you to finally drop the Palin pom-poms and recognize the harrowing extent of her shallowness. Thank God for Post-Erection Day.
