Did anyone else see Andrea Mitchell & Kathleen Parker

this afternoon on MSNBC discussing the towel incident?

Andrea said Sarah walked into a room with her advisors (Steve Schmidt & Mark Salter?), wearing only a towel on her head and around her body, telling them to talk to Todd while she got dressed. Kathleen was speechless.

Senator Palin?

If Ted Stevens gets booted from the Senate seat he just re-won, can't Palin appoint herself Alaska's newest Senator?

Stranger Things Have Happened

In 1960, Richard Nixon lost his bid for the presidency to JFK, in part because JFK looked better in the televised debates. (Televised presidential debates were very new then).

In 1962, Nixon lost his bid for governor of California, and his political career seemed to be over. "You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around any more!" was the famous quote.

But then, in 1968, he became the Republican nominee for president - and won. Reelected in 1972, with the aid of the Committee to RE-Elect the President, suitably known by the acronym CREEP.

Now of course Nixon was a lot sharper. But times were different then.

Caribou Barbie may try the same thing. Do not be surprised by anything she does. Still got a couple of years as governor of Alaska to complete, anyway.

Anybody want to give odds on the following:

- Palin winds up as a commentator on Fox or some other three-feet-to-the-right-of-Attila-the-Hun program?

- Levi and Bristol never get married?

- Palin pops out yet another kid before she's done?

- She runs for governor of Alaska again and is reelected?

- She "writes" a book?

Man...

You can't improve on that statement. It has to stand on its own as a shining example to overreaching, self-important bimbi everywhere.

Bimbi = plural of bimbo.

"Sucking the gay out of men's penises?" That is SO wrong, yet somehow, so right.

Please, I don't want to even think about Sarah Palin having a kid with white hair, wrinkles and lumpy cheeks!

Odds on Palin's future

Anybody want to give odds on the following:

I'll give it a shot, and add a couple more. Though I must note that I am not a professional odds-maker, bookie, or otherwise associated with the honorable profession of gambling.

Palin winds up as a commentator on Fox or some other three-feet-to-the-right-of-Attila-the-Hun program?

2:1

(Full disclosure: I got peeps at Fox who say this is already in discussions, but no decision will be made until January.)

Levi and Bristol never get married?

100:1

Odds they will marry and divorce within 5 years of wedding date:

2:1

Palin pops out yet another kid before she's done?

No chance. Had we seen her medical records, you'd know why.

She runs for governor of Alaska again and is reelected?

20:1

She takes over Stevens' Senate seat via special election:

5:1

She "writes" a book?

1:1 - the deal is already in the works.

@maximillianw - Alaska Law Requires a Special Election

The appointment rule was changed when Senator Murkowski (r) won the governorship. He appointed his daughter Lisa to the seat he vacated. The new law was passed fairly quickly after that fiasco.

Palin has a good shot at winning a special election. As I said, she still holds a solid approval rating. She will be well backed much of the Republican ground machinery in the state (its largely dominated by the religious right).

The only real question is whether Stevens resigns before a Senate expulsion vote or fights it out on the floor and makes the Senate expel him. Don't be too surprised if he does the latter. Steven's is one stubburn SOB.

And also ...

<<Levi and Bristol never get married?

100:1

Odds they will marry and divorce within 5 years of wedding date:

2:1 >>

Further predictions:

Levi will get a state government job: 50:50

After the divorce Sarah and the First Dude will try to have him fired: guaranteed

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 03:20 PM

Palin/Quayle in '12?

Once you are a punchline, thats all you'll ever be.

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 03:24 PM

damn, y'all, with all these predictions

I've been thinking all day that the GOP loss may be the best thing that ever happened to Bristol Palin, that Obama may have saved her life, and that's added to my happiness (I'm the mother of a 17-year-old girl). But I realize now that the shotgun weddin'-divorce-in-five-years-govt job-troopergate deux scenario is the more realistic.

Because truth really IS stranger than fiction. And, usually, sadder.

Why can't she. Just. Go. Away.

Run, Bristol, RUN!

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 03:25 PM

She'd be Out of her Depth

In a parking lot puddle. She's already proved she's from the gene wading pool.

After the divorce Sarah and the First Dude will try to have him fired: guaranteed.

And some other decent Alaskan like Walt Monegan will get fired for refusing to fire him, even if it is not that person's jurisdiction to do so.

Maybe they'll cut to the chase and invite Levi out "Moose Hunting." Darn those hunting accidents!

Palin A-Go-Go

Comment earlier about her popping out another child? Maybe I've been spending too much time reading everything about this election - but it's been mentioned that she didn't have the latest tot. Her daughter did. Now, I'm not a conspiracy junkie, but there's so much about her pregnancy that doesn't make sense. Google the issue.

Sure explains her last minute two page medical record that finally came out. It takes a while to write fiction.

Hey, Sarah? Buh-bye.

The Towel Incident and the Clothing Buying Spree

is from a Newsweek article that has been written. I believe I read the article regarding this on Huffingtonpost.com. It turns out she spent MORE than 150k. Some rich person said /he/she would pay for her clothes. She ended up spending a ton of money not only on her but her family too. The person who footed the bill was shocked as to how much she spent. Link to article is below:

She is such an embarrasment to all women. I hope she never comes back. There are way too many soundbites and videos that could be used against in her a campaign.

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 04:38 PM

Maybe Sarah...

...can get some community organizers to help school her for then...oh. Never mind...

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 05:29 PM

I resemble that remark

Quiet type, I'm 47 and it is certainly true that the last four years HAVE been the least kind to my poor body. Plus SP won't be breastfeeing any more (let's hope!). I really think those maternal breasts were the secret to her appeal to people like Kristol and Lowry. Which opens up a whole host of issues, but I've given up snark.
