Please, Thomas. Tell us more about what "blacks" do.
I had to Google the Cupid Shuffle.
Practicing it now.
I've already called my white friends to assure them I'll look out for them in the new black america (blackmerica) if Obama should win.
Is that wrong?
Whispering "neener neener neener" as I pass by McCain/Palin signs...
... *IF* they win, and "it's not over until the Supreme Court says it is".
I laughed so hard I cried...
or like if you get too excited you'll wake yourself up.
I only see about 3-4 things on that list that the rest of us aren't gonna be doing tomorrow. Live like you guys want to live. Hell, I'll even do the cupid shuffle if I don't have to put up with 4 years of John McCain.
This is yet another internet hoax written by racists perpetuating myths about African Americans. The unfortunate outcome is that our own internalized racism aids in its dissemination. That a legitimate news source would print this as social commentary is also unfortuante, though not surprising.
There is so much more that I can say about this article but I'm just too tired.
Fuck you, Thomas Schaller. You don't know anything about African Americans.
is that Harold's Chicken Shack will become a nationwide institution.
Chicken served from behind bullet-proof glass just tastes better...
I feel for Obama the same way I would feel about my father, brother or son: I'm cheering for him. I want him to win. And most of all, I want his security doubled! We are ecstatic and grieved simultaneously.
It was a *joke* girlsix. You know, humor? Yes, it was full of stereotypes... that was the point. Get over yourself, black people don't need you to take offense on their behalf.
As an African American, *I* found it offensive, as did *every* African American I know in Oakland California who saw it. I think it's safe for me to be offended on behalf of *my* people.
Thomas Schaller didn't think it was a joke. Nor did I.
Black folks do understand satire. "Tropic Thunder" was hilarious. That cover of the New Yorker, not so much.
I won't assume that you're *not* African American by your comment. If you are, maybe you can explain to me why this is funny. You know, black person to black person.
but this is funny. Thomas Schaller's commentary was absurd. 'Black people who are not Chris Rock really do have a sense of humor! Really, they do...No really. 'Cause my Black BFFs told me so. No...Seriously.'
But that doesn't change the fact that the email is funny. It's clearly making fun of racial stereotypes, not black people. Besides, this couldn't have been written by a white bigot for the following reasons:
1) they're not funny, or clever--they're pathetic. Have you ever heard Pat Buchannan speak? Do you honestly think someone like that could write something like this?
2) They can't contemplate a black person in an office setting without going into one of their bullshit tirades about affirmative action
3) This email was laced with sarcasm. The type me and mine have used throughout this election, before this election, and will continue to use after the election and finally
3) How the hell would they know about "We’ve come this Far By Faith"?
I'm an African-American( I really hate that term) who thought this was hilarious! Lighten up girlsix! Incidentally, it's not Boo-yea, it's Boo-YAH!!! Hopefully, I'll be screaming this at the top of my college educated lungs sometime tonight........................................
