Is no way to pitch your game.
What a difference a war makes.
Eight years ago, those of us who warned about what a vote for Nader would mean were mocked and vilified as asskissers of the establishment and told Gore was no different than Bush.
I just want this stupid old man to die.
I tried to watch the first couple minutes of this video, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out:
(1) What it has to do with Nader
(2) What the joke is supposed to be
Are these Nader supporters? Do they have a point?
If these are real Nader supporters, then I say to them: Are you trying to make yourself look stupid? Because that is the net effect.
The guy is getting progressively wackier...
"I just want this stupid old man to die."
"Nader should bang head on the wall till the white meat comes out."
I just can't figure it out -- what Obama constituency do you represent? Is there a 'psychopaths for Obama' group out there? Seriously, somebody needs to keeps these types locked in the basement until after the election. And then we need to figure out what to do with the stray Palin supporters who think they've tacked Democratic. Sheesh!
But I wish he'd at least admit that Bush has been a disaster and own up to HIS part in the 2000 mess.
And if Nader finds the state of the Union so objectionable, may I ask why he ONLY shows up to denounce the Democrats every four years? What exactly does he do the REST of the time to improve the country?
Nader could be a force for good if he chose to speak up and speak OUT against corporatism etc etc. Doesn't say a thing, just runs for president every four years. I can only conclude all the quadrenniel fuss Ralph makes is really more about himself than it is about making the country better. His stances on various issues may be admirable, but as a person I find him vain, selfish and self-righteous. Any of these qualities would be a turn off for me in anyone, but all together in one person, they're deadly.
Nader -- from consumer advocate hero to zealot and enemy of the people. Let's give him some attention after the election.
Why?
I think Obama's doing fine in the nuts department. In the tradition of Dick Tuck, someone should deliver a truckload of nuts to Nader's driveway. Maybe pinenuts.
Until Nader acknowledges that he bears a significant share of the blame for George W. Bush's ascendancy to the presidency (and I do not expect that he ever will), I could not possibly care less about anything he has to say. The Shrub's disastrous squandering of international goodwill towards the US post 9/11 is on Nader. The war in Iraq, and all the death and destruction, is on Nader. The continued downward spiral of our environment is on Nader. No, he deserves no attention whatsoever. Nader has made himself a pariah with his egomania. I'm not ready to make nice, I'm not ready to back down, I'm still mad as hell. (Thank you for saying it so well, Natalie Maines!)
I didn't say anybody should help bring it about.
And you don't have to be psychopathic, or a nascent Palin paleo, to feel deep, deep hatred towards Nader for his part in electing Bush. This is exactly what he and his disciples (the ten or so left) have denied for eight years. I don't wish violence towards him, but to me he's scum right alongside bushcheneyrumsfeldricewolfowitz.
I just can't figure it out -- what Obama constituency do you represent?
Neither of them said anything about Obama in the posts you mentioned. Do you think that their apparent dislike of Nader implies that they support Obama?
has been nuts for years.
I hear McCain has offered him an official post in his new administration(if they can rig enough Diebold machines) - Chief Well-Poisoner...
If you want to blame someone, blame 538 Florida Democrats who decided they weren't going to vote this time around.
Blame the people who thought Bush and Gore were same-same and didn't do the most basic homework to see how different they were.
Blame Gore for running a lackluster campaign and distinguishing himself from someone so obviously different and inferior to himself.
Blame massive voter fraud by the Republican-controlled Florida election machinery.
Back in 2000, I thought, "Well, at least this will teach the Democrats they can't take progressive voters for granted." Took them two election cycles but they learned.
If Gore hadn't lost in 2000, would we have Obama today? And if we didn't have Obama, it would be Hillary. And would Hillary be on the verge of winning? I doubt it.
You can't blame somebody for running when they feel that they have a constituency that isn't being served by either of the major parties.
Instead of focusing on exactly why he's a viable Presidential candidate. His values are good, but he has no way of realizing them in the current political climate. Yes, a Kucinich/Nader ticket could offer a lot of things Obama/Biden doesn't, or it could work to influence the rest of the Democratic party that has indeed in many ways become Republican-lite.
But instead his tack is just to attack the Dems without hardly ever uttering a word about a) how much worse the Republicans (who like it or not profited from his 2000 run) are or b) the fact that by only showing up every 4 years to attack the Dem nominee is he absolutely helping said Republicans.
Any way you slice it, it's unseemly at best, pathetic and harmful and worst.
I say ignore his grandstanding and maybe he'll realize he's just not Presidential material. Yah right.
And isn't that the important thing, really? Sure, the country is going to Hell in a handbasket after eight years of Bush, but gosh, Nader sure taught the DNC a lesson.
What a fascinating perspective.
Blame the people who thought Bush and Gore were same-same and didn't do the most basic homework to see how different they were.
Indeed. Another name for these people is "Nader voters." And if less than half of them had bothered to think before they voted, we'd now be discussing who would follow Gore's second term. So no, we can't entirely blame Nader himself, but we can damn sure blame him and the idiots who fell for his cult of personality.
