Oh get a life...

Really, these guys need to get a life...

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:49 AM

Will someone explain to Pat

the difference between playing to the base, and attracting sane voters?

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:50 AM

This is meant to be a deterrant?

Is it just me, or do most of those scary ideas sound pretty good?

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:50 AM

Oh My God!

"A federal bailout of states and municipalities to keep state and local governments spending up could come in December or early next year." But it was okay for the banks, huh? And in any event, any such bailout would be required because the absence of regulation has so thoroughly screwed our collective pooch.

But the best part is "the first trillion-dollar deficit will be run in the first year of an Obama presidency. It will be the first of many." Like that wasn't guaranteed already, prior to any Obama victory, and due to the above-mentioned idiocy.

Welcome to Obamaland, indeed. Hey, Pat. Boo yerself.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:52 AM

it's not just you

I dream of a president who could get even half of those things done.

But though I hope Obama can be a great president, I think his agenda is likely to be more moderate. He seems a very moderate man.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:53 AM

I don't know what America Pat lives in...

...but where I live most of that list sounds pretty inviting. I'll cast my vote for the smart guy.

PANIC PANIC PANIC

The panicky do panicky things in panicky times - there is nothing else to do - duck, cover and throw squirrel ball - watch him doge the traffic in the road.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:53 AM

With a few exceptions...

..this place he describes sounds kind of like Paradise!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:53 AM

Boo hoo! Poor bigot!

Really breaks my heart that Pat Buchanan can't rile people up with his unabashed hatred of anything immigrant related, or his deep and unabiding homophobia.

I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but fuck him. He's pushed an agenda of hatred and division his entire life and career. However, I can take pleasure in the fact that he's lived long enough to watch his party and bullshit agenda collapse in front of his eyes.

After the utter disaster the GOP has forced upon the American people for the last eight years, and intermittently for the past thirty- I welcome an Obama presidency with joy and open arms!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:54 AM

Oh man!

One could only DREAM that Obama the centrist would enact all of these policies!

It would be wonderful. Won't happen, but one can dream!

Wow! All That?

He's got my vote.

if the top 5% pay 60% of the taxes

...even after all the Bush tax relief, that doesn't mean the rich are overtaxed -- it means we've got third world disparities of wealth between the supperrich and the other 95%.

This is reinforced by a study I recently saw; of the 30 richest nations, the US ranks 28th in income equality, right down there with South Korea, Mexico, and Turkey.

And by some recokonings, the top 1% controls 50% of this country's wealth.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:58 AM

This is supposed to be scary?

Those scary predictions look kinda good in my opinion. Saw V is a hell of a lot scarier than Pat Buchanan.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 10:59 AM

There is something comforting...

In seeing that Pat Buchanan is still a nutjob. Remember when he was a viable presidential candidate? No, me neither.

It is slightly sickening to see this kind of baseless screed published... Obviously not by a respectable publication.

Pat and Bay -- cheerleaders for idiocy

Pat Buchanan and his sister Bay, the most outrageously outspoken supporter of Sarah Palin, are so caught up in their crazed, right-wing vision of the world that they have become parodies of themselves. Like Sarah, you could take their words and read them on SNL and people would laugh their asses off.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 11:01 AM

HIP! HIP! HOORAY!

This sounds like heaven on earth. We did pretty well

in the '50s and '60s with top tax rates 70-90% and

capital gains taxes at 48%.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 11:01 AM

Sounds good!

Also, no one's mind is going to be changed by Pat's rantings. Especially since he continues to defend the Palin pick.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 11:02 AM

Also...

I'm really surprised he didn't go for the gold and mention reperations. Then again, that probably got edited out in an earlier version by slightly saner copyeditor.

If it looks like a WingNut

Pat and Bay Buchanan have apparently bought a one way ticket to crazytown. Pat is so in love with Sarah Palin I suspect if anyone went to his residence there'd be a stalker like shrine to her in the basement. Most of those are non- issues - like the death tax which affects hardly anyone except the 1% like Pat Buchanan who are so worried about losing all their precious money even apparently when they are dead.

Worst case scenario is if the Democrats go out of control Republicans will regain in a couple of years - that's how things work. Right now nothing gets done because of the extreme partisanship. Obama has shown a propensity for negotiating on issues to get things done - much to the chagrin to the extreme in the Democratic party. My question to Pat Buchanan and others is can anyone screw up any worse than Bush? Besides the fabulously wealthy has anyone's life gotten better the last 8 years? No - which is why there's change in the air. People like Buchanan and extreme conservative can continue to give their hard earned money to Republicans under the pretense of moral reasoning - but the rest of us would like to even the playing field --instead of worrying about social welfare why not put an end to corporate welfare? Reading about the billions already earmarked for bonuses from the Bush alleged bailout I think the top 1% will be OK for awhile.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 11:02 AM

Umm... Ok. Thanks Pat!

Except for that last one with the Trillion dollar deficit, none of these things scare me. In fact, I agree with most of them. The ones I don't agree with I don't really care about. Pat is stuck in the morality wars when it's clearly Economy Time, baby!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 11:03 AM

OHMIGOD!

The gays are coming! The gays are coming! Lock your doors and hide your marriages!

Please, Buchanan. Most of us are actually hoping for a world where gay marriage is just like straight marriage. Except, hopefully, without the hating on other kinds of marriages.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 11:03 AM

So Baiscly

It sucks to be in the top 5 percent of successfull people in Obamaland.

Or to be more specific it is slightly less enjoyable than being ludicrously wealthy in the Bushland.

I guess I'm not quite seeing why 95% of the electorate should be afraid.
