Who's responsible for Palin's new wardrobe?

Conflicting stories and finger-pointing over the decision to buy new clothing for Sarah Palin and her family hint at tension inside the Republican Party.

The letters thread is now closed.

Dash the movement

Hopefully it will be Sarah Plain who finally kills the wing nut influence on the GOP once and for all times. The radical types she brings to rallies should be a warning to the GOP. Let these people form their own theocratic-nazi party.

Of course Sarah could have refused the clothing. Sure it wasn't Sarah Palin who was given a card and went shopping herself. How did this shopper get clothes that fit so perfectly?

These Guys are Ridiculous

If Palin is the great leader she tells us she is then surely she could have declined wearing the clothes if she chose -- they act like she was forced to wear the clothes -- what's next - she was tied down by the expensive make-up artist? And still doesn't explain clothes for her family. The Palins live in a $500,000 house - own dozens of vehicles -- even bought a tanning salon for the governors mansion (or at least say they bought it - who knows) -- one minute they are treated like the Clampetts and can't be held responsible for anything - the next Palin is the greatest governor in the history of the world.

McCain et al. still don't get it - the issue isn't the clothes - it's the irony of the situation. Palin is believing her own hype -- there was a story that the wardrobe person at SNL said Palin asked to wear more expensive clothes - and they had to tell her no because she was a character on their show --the situation is not important - the continuing inability of Palin or McCain to tell the truth is an issue -- since it's supposed to be the Straight Talk Express. .

More Clothes!

I hope people who've said they're "tired" of the $150,000 clothing story are reconsidering. It's been the gift that keeps on giving. I for one look forward to hearing more about how the big clothes buy is tearing apart the McCain campaign and the RNC.

When you have no one else to blame, pass the buck.

The only person Sarah Palin has to blame for the position she is in is herself and her colossal ego.

She had no business accepting the offer of a vice presidency. And whoever recommended her to McCain should slink quietly away with his or her tail between their legs.

She has neither the experience or the intellectual capacity to be vice president, let alone president in 2012.

When I hear people at her rallies gush "she's one of us" I cringe.

We don't need "one of us" in office. We need someone better than most of us and she is obviously not that.

She attracts the lunitic right fringe and we have all suffered from what they can do in office the last eight years.

The only difference between Sarah Palin and George Bush, besides gender, is that he is a Have who wanted to keep it and she is a have not who wants to get it and all at our country's expense on our dependence on fossil fuels.

Well if her stated income is any measure

Most of her wealth comes directly from the State of Alaska to her pocket. I heard her last year household income was a shade under $130,000 which, in the most expensive state in the US and with 5 kids is not actually 'rolling in it.' So one could conclude that a huge piece of her personal wealth is skim from the State of Alaska's coffers, or, bribes.

I am feeling so ashamed now...

...for sending Todd those worn thongs...

Freddy "The Beetle" Barnes!

HA he is still alvie, I guess that is some good news. They say this is the most important election in our lifetimes, it's definitely the LONGEST. Next Tuesday cannot get here too soon. Then let the Republicans eat each other alive for the next four years with blame and recriminations.

Hard to believe

"The person who went and bought the clothes, and as I understand it put the clothes on her credit card."

Someone has a credit card with more than a $150,000 limit?? This makes no sense.

With all of this "executive experience" at their disposal one would think that someone in the Palin campaign would know how $150K came to be spent. Maybe they got it out of the petty cash drawer....

Perhaps the most important things this tells us are:

1) The McCain/Palin campaign knows they screwed up bigtime because they're all trying to blame it on somebody else.

2) McCain and Palin are demonstrating denial of responsibility, a trait which has a lot to do with the sorry state our country is in today. I expect more of the same if they somehow manage to win the election.

So what they're saying is ...

... you know, Sarah Palin is such a rube that she can't possibly know how much these elitist clothes cost. She's not into vanity at all - not a former freaking beauty contestant. She has no idea what this stuff goes for! She's a commoner, dammit! Commoners can't tell expensive clothes from wolf pelts! They pay attention to warmth, and that's it!

Who's responsible? Who cares?

One way or the other, it's the taxpayers who will be footing the bill. Whether The GOP's Royal Bimboness had decided to do this on its own and picked out the clothes itself, or someone from the party tarted it up, the bottom line is all the same at the end of the day.

Whatever, it will still be deliciously fun to dress down as The Bimbo Witch of the Right on Friday night for Halloween.

Three points

1. As my wife says, a woman who has been in beauty pageants would know those clothes were extremely high-end even if she didn't buy them herself, which in itself is highly unlikely since, as an earlier letter-writer pointed out, they fit perfectly.

2. Again attributable to my wife, this latest bs about how it wasn't her fault and she never knew the clothes were so expensive (see point #1, above) doesn't address the issue of the high-dollar makeup artist that applied makeup directly to her face.

3. Remember her claimed response to an earlier, supposedly unacceptable extravagance- the bridge to nowhere: "I said thanks, but not thanks." I know that was all a lie, but if she wanted to redeem a modicum of credibility and present herself as a dyed-in-the-wool Wal-Mart or consignment store shopping "hockey mom," wouldn't have been wise to use that line while wearing her own clothes in full view of the press?

Face it governor, you got tripped up by your massive ego yet again.
