I did a count on the new polling graphic at TPM Election Central, and 13 Republican seats are in danger compared to no Democratic seats. That definition includes lots of optimism, but take out the stretches like Maine and Texas, there are still about six seats likely to flip and about four toss-ups. So who can blame the RNC for looking at the Senate? Let's get that filibuster-proof majority folks, and we'll get a lot better health care plan, election reform, infrastructure work, tax reform, etc.
With the credit crunch severely curtailing cotporate lines of credit, who is floating these losers at the RNC a $5 million note?
But that's probably the only thing that will work.
The fact is money won't help McCain right now, but it might help incumbants in tight races hold onto their seats.
McCain needs a miracle to happen tomorrow night or a tragedy in the next two weeks or his campaign is done.
Everyone knows it, and although no one in the RNC probably wishes McCain any specific ill will, his mismanagment, and downright strange behavoir on the campaign hasn't won him any friends either.
At this point, The RNC has to look forward, and McCain's presidential bid is fairly decided already.
If Gordon Smith is still in office next year I'm selling my house and moving accross the river.
I wouldn't exactly consider the repubs to be good bets at this time, but on the other hand, since the banks are counting on the govt to back all their loans I'd say they'll get whatever money they need.
It would be the ultimate of all delicious just desserts if the RNC were denied their loan request tho.
So who's going to lend them this money? How are they going to repay the loan? What's their "business plan"?
Just wondering.
Just like in a war, you pound the enemy to prevent them from ever being able to make war again (or at least, not for a long time), I'd like to see the GOP pounded in the same way such that, like the country as a whole, they are hobbled by debt for decades.
The Don't-Tax-But-Spend-Anyway GOP Goes Into Debt to Shore Up Dwindling Down-Ballot Chances
I guess all Republicans are up a creek without a paddle... well I am not feeling bad about that. In fact this has made my day.
Fiscal Conservatives Go 5Mil In Debt To Help Fiscal Conservatives Get Elected!
They're not giving up on him - because the margin that he losses by impacts the down-ticket races! HA!
