You are patently
Full of shit...
And, of course, it was more than one person or one McCain/Palin event.
NPR has been so reluctant to engage in any critical questionning lately it amounts to a passive endorsement of Republican lies, scare tactics and smears.
Palin and McCain are the worst possible candidates and their supporters would be comfortable at a Munich Beer Hall Putch, KKK rally, or a game ranch where the animals are tied to a stake to make them easier to shoot.
More stories about Palin and less about republithugs whining about people giving them the treatment that they deserve.
I am just glad that we have another liberal who will lead us back to the glory days of Kennedy and Clinton.
Obama in 2008!
Obama in 2012!
Hillary in 2016!
That somebody cried out "he's a liar" when Obama was praising McCain's service at a rally. As opposed to those people yelling "traitor," "kill him," and "terrorist" at McCain rallies. Yeah, that's equivalent.
I shouldn't be amazed by the capacity of Republican spokespods to lie with a straight face anymore, but sometimes the giant disconnect from reality (and the fact that the press rarely calls them on it) floors me.
because wingers have their own reality. Who would have thought it would be rabid conservatives who would most fervently embrace the belief that all reality is constructed.
I also heard that this AM and wondered why it was just not announced as a free radio spot for McCain. She let every statement he made go totally unchallenged and then thanked him! for the "interview".
You just haven't seen that kind of vitriol on the left since the days of Bill Ayers. Same is true when it comes to political violence - that has been generally right wing for years, excluding west coast enviro arsonists.
They N. They P. And they R, blanche... They R.
Like that other news network we know and love (not). Where's the equal time for the Obama spokesperson?
Renee Montagne is weak and pathetic, like most of the other moral equivocators on NPR.
A quaint take
On what news may break...
It shows that the McCain supporters, the ones who claim to be good Christians are also the most violent in nature. They are no different than the Taliban is in Afghanistan.
If you dissagree with them they threaten violence in the same manner. Religion, by it's very nature is intolerant to other's beliefs. There is no reason to question this because it is everywhere. Sadly enough like all religion it is the philosophy of hate and fear to bring them together against a common enemy, or anyone not like themselves.
The Republican party now a days is made up of very ignorant "White Trash" people with low I.Q. and this translates into herd mentality to incite violence.
Sorry, but I don't buy it. Shame on NPR for letting that go unchallenged. American journalists from coast to coast need desperately to learn the art of the follow-up question. Follow up, people. Please! Listen to BBC reporters if you need pointers on how to do it. When some chucklehead throws something out like Schmidt did, just follow up on it, force them to go on the line with their bullshit.
The sad fact of it is that McCain/Palin have been the ones stoking the hate speech, lighting the demagogic fires to try to re-inflate their sagging hot air balloon; Obama hasn't had to do that, has made electoral hay by just countering and offering defense as needed, and moving forward with his politics of hope and rational centrism. Sorry, but there is no such thing as "fanatical moderation" -- it just doesn't play that way.
Maybe the GOP will take advantage of the big turnouts at Obama events to hire shills to turn up and be all hate-speechlike at Obama rallies, just to offer some evidence of it (sort of a man-on-the-street variant of the Jeff Gannon approach to journalism). It'd be risky, but they might be able to get some party faithful to turn up and start hate-speaking.
But then, the problem with that approach is that such speech would immediately stand out as exceptional and uncharacteristic of Obama's supporters, and would be loudly challenged by Obama's people, and challenged by Obama. So that's another right-wing tactic down the drain.
I myself have been calling McCain a traitor for a while...so perhaps that's what he's refering to.
The obvious differnce is of course that McCain's giving information to the Vietcong during his incarciration is a documented fact that he himself has volunteered.
Obama by contrast has never been shown to pal around with any person wishing ill on this nation.
So I guess it's about perspective. A blind unsubstantiated accusation being equal to a documented statemebt by your candidate is something that I might not subscribe to. But then again I am not a traitor to my nation.
why there is plenty of video of nasty crowds spewing negative swill at wholesale levels at McCain rallies...and not at Obama rallies.
It's the same reason that Obama will never have to confront a hate-mongering, ignorant nitwit who helps tank his campaign before he can grab the mic away.
I've been to Obama rallies in PA. His message is all business, not hate innuendo, smirks, winks and shoulder shrugs. And people respond in like manner.
Likewise, watch the network, local or national coverage after events. Obama/Democrats talk about how he will bring the right policies to American government. McCain/Republicans repeat idiotic but hateful lies about Obama, usually with a smirk or a growl.
And that's why, in a few weeks, a U-Haul from Illinois will be packing up for a move to Pennsylvania Avenue.
There's a wonderful piece on Truthout.org about McCain's "He's an Arab" moment. His biggest supporters are drowning him in their sludge.
There's also a video on Comedycentral.com that features interviews of the crowd at a Wasilla sports bar after the V.P. debate. One of them actually says "things are going to be very white". And goes on to mention there are no "colored people" to speak of in Wasilla.
It's the new Republican party. McCain has been feeding the monster. And now McCain has seen it's face. He's about to be devoured by his own.
His staff and advisers can equivocate all they want. It's right there for anyone who can work a remote, a keyboard or pick up a newspaper.
This is all so PeeWee's Playhouse..."I know you are, but what am I?"
