I guess the message is Obama is a terrorist? Or Muslims are evil? Or Palin isn't unethical? Or we need a smaller government to hand out bigger bailouts? Or Obama is a scary black man and will drive a gold plated Cadillac to the white house?
I can see why their messages are not connecting with the voters. Which one of the above should they pick and stick?
a Karl Rove style GOP attempt to derail the Obama campaign will occur within the next three weeks.
Get the Teflon ready.
but, I have tamped it down during the primaries and the general.
I don't even think about the possibility we will win because I cannot deal with being disappointed again.
My whole adult life has been during the conservative revolution beginning with Reagan's 1980 win. It's been hell to live under it and so, I've escaped by reading alot of books on FDR and the 1930s., imagining what it would be like to live under a great democratic president.
I could see we were heading into a economic collapse because common sense said it could not be sustained. But, even with 1932 dancing in the air for awhile, I dismissed it. Now I see it written and talked about everywhere.
And the one candidate I honestly felt excited about and felt could be a transformative candidate happened to be running this year and is on the cusp of getting elected.
Though, by no means do I see Obama as an FDR (there was, alas, only one and we will never see the likes of someone like him again), I do see Obama and have, as someone who has all the gifts to be on the scale of a very good president.
First, the rigged machines in Florida that bought the "victory" to GWB are still there, aren't they?
Or a "providential" bomb will f*** up things days before Election Day.
Or Osama Bin Laden will be miraculously taken out the fridge.
Or, if anything, GOP will leave such a f***ed up situation that Obama will be a lame duck by midterm and Dems will be forever associated with dire economic situation... created by the GOP.
Don't thank me, I know everybody can use a touch of optimism!
Rovian politics is dead and discredited.
The gop just has not gotten the hint, or at least the far right.
Saner republicans have seen this and are readjusting to the new mood and political climate.
The far right is still clinging dearly to their beloved slime, smear and lie tactics because that is all they know. And it's what they live for.
But, in truth, the average person has moved on and has no time for the garbage
www.fivethirtyeight.com has McCain's win percentage at 5.9%
As in get off yours and VOTE!
I am so sick of this. Now the Republican party just can't figure out what happened and why McCain is doing so badly this late in the campaign. Gee, could it be because they permitted a man who is extremely obnoxious in every possible way to end up with the nomination? Someone had to help him along. He certainly did not get the nod all by himself. Everyone in the Senate knows what McCain's personality is like. This is nothing new. All who know him are aware that he has a violent temper and an unpleasantness about him that he, himself, thinks is charming. Did they think that the average person in this country was unable to see that? We just aren't stupid....sorry. Even the way he has treated his wife in front of reporters should have been enough to warn their party that this was a man who could not control anything, much less himself.
McCain may very well find some miracle and come back in this campaign but right now many many people have had enough of him and his sidekick. They are both sarcastic and nasty .... why would a majority of the people like them even if they were qualified?
Proof there will be no landslide:
Oct 12, 2008
"WASHINGTON (AP) - When Bill and Hillary Clinton take the stage Sunday at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, it will be the launch of an active campaign for their former nemesis Barack Obama in the home stretch of the 2008 presidential race."
Bill and Hill only get involved when days are dark. Why? they, especially Bill, are a gamble only the desperate make. Remember his entrance into Hill's campaign. It was the beginning of the end. It did not cause the end, but it came when insiders, as opposed to public polls, knew Hill was going to lose.
True politic afficienados understand. McCain wins..
Democrats = Charlie Brown, Lucy=Sarah Palin-- and Obama goes for the punt. . .
Your usual nightmare
Isn't that what the GOP base believes now? They just can't believe that the majority of Americans would vote for Barack Hussein Obama so the Democrats must be rigging the election!
Having a major political party base it's core support on getting people to Believe Things That Just Aren't True is going to lead to even greater extremism in the future.
if you did not vote for Barack Obama in the Primaries.
~Bill Clinton was labeled a racist.
But what could the poor guy do?
It was after all his wife that was the "other" candidate.
~In spite of being labeled "racist",
a lot of people voted for the "other" candidate.
With so many racists,
how did Barack Obama become the Nominee?
~Perhaps the DNC feared being labeled 'The Racist Party'.
Or
~Perhaps super delegates feared that Senator James Clyburn's statements of being
"...concerned about what might happen IF the nomination was STOLEN from Barack Obama and, given to..." the other candidate.
~Perhaps God had a hand in cleansing Bill Clinton and the former other candidate from their racist selves; so that they can campaign for Barack Obama.
Even now,
if you have always been a Republican or,
are thinking of voting for the current other candidate,
~you are a racist.

There is a United States of America."
