"Puck you, Palin!"

Sarah Palin is scheduled to drop the puck at an upcoming Philadelphia Flyers game; one Web site wants fans to greet her with that chant.

The letters thread is now closed.

Philly Fans

Ya gotta love 'em. If you don't - they'll kick your ass!

Go Philly! Go Obama/Biden!

Friday, October 10, 2008 03:53 PM

Please no

Don't be mean to the pretty lady.

Seriously, Obama is looking good while the right freaks out. No need to follow them down into the abyss.

Friday, October 10, 2008 03:55 PM

As if she'll care

Go ahead. Sarah will be the first to laugh. Very few people, other than demented ObaManiacs, can truly hate Sarah Palin. Even Biden was having fun being with her in the debate.

But that's a good pun. In fact, from now on, when I want to use the F-word, I will use "puck" instead. Then they won't blacklist me for using "bad words". Heaven forfend, a person would use "bad words". Naughty naughty. Shame on you. Do you eat with that puck in your mouth?

Puck you too. You Pucking Maternal Pucker. Hey! This is really a lot of pucking fun! Altho, some might say that it's rather bull shirty.

How 'bout "Puck you, Falin!"

That's a pure consonant swap AND more to the point. She's failin', big time.

@Mr. Bass Man

You are absolutely right.

You forgot ...

You forgot about that pack of Phillies fans in right field. You know, the ones who were throwing AA batteries at J.D. Drew's head . . .

Friday, October 10, 2008 04:06 PM

Don't you see that's as evil as the GOP anger at Obama?

When McCain and Palin question Obama's character and associations, and whip up their crowds into mindless anger reminiscent of 1930's Germany; we recognize that as evil.

When the left does it it's also evil. Is nobody capable of seeing that?

Personal attack is personal attack. The left imagines that because they disagree with Palin's politics and persona, they are justified in making personal attacks.

Is this all there is? Mindless morons on each side hurling insults at each other and organizing hate speech against their opponent?

check out the web site...!!!

The Palinisms alone are great (they're direct quotes--can't call that slammin'). But I really cracked up at the first video clip--"Hey there, Palin."

Sorry to those who may be offended, but after a week of viewing the hate-mongering McPalin rallies (especially Palin remarks), I think I deserve a hearty laugh!

Anyway, there ain't no holding back Philly fans. I will restrain from voicing my secret desire that she'll slip on the ice...no serious injuries, I'm not that mean, just enough to hamper her Sister Sarah RALLY activities.

Philly has no brotherly love for fluff

And Palin will have to get used to it. I've already registered my objections to this politicization of the Flyers with the team, but who knows? Those streetwise Dems in the audience could give Palin a taste of reality, as contrasted with the unabashed idolatry to which she has quickly become accustomed.

the official word here in Philadelphia

is that they have been looking for the ultimate "hockey mom" for the past month..and suddenly, well...what would be more natural?

Problem is...the man behind it is a major Republican donor and supporter, who has, apparently maxed out on financial support and is claiming...holy cow....that this isn't political.

She's just a hockey mom, bless her.

There has already been a lot of local flap over this. I just hope there are plenty of boos in the background when they show the footage on the news tomorrow night. I'm just wondering if it is for the sake of grabbing those newscasts on the same day Obama has multiple Philly stops. Gee, ya think?

OK then, "Puck off, Falin!"

Does that depersonalize it enough? Damn, y'all get sensitive sometimes.

Seriously, you don't see a difference between angry people at a political rally shouting "Kill him!" and "Terrorist!" and fun-loving fans at a sporting event shouting obscenities at the opponent or, in this case, a political foe?

Here's the difference: The Philly fans will be smiling. The McCainiacs are dead serious.

I'm reminded of the time back in 1995 when Ken Griffey Jr. of the Mariners muffed a single in center field in Yankee Stadium, so the batter tried for second base, whereupon Griffey scrambled for the ball and made a great throw to nail the runner. After a few moments, the Bleacher Bums started chanting "Fuck you, Junior!" But they did it out of begrudging admiration, not genuine malice.

Maybe I'm naive, or just fed up with the right wing, but I see a difference of intent behind "Puck off, Falin!" and "Terrorist!"

very funny , but.........

why not just say the real thing instead of being worried about " offending" the " impressionable young children" present.[ more like the "cathlo-christian" parents of such children!] I'd simply holler out, " Fuck You PALIN!" kinda like the FLORIDA GATORS FANS often do toward the opposing teams at football games down in "lil' ol' gainesville, flah-daa"!

recently I did one better and started, on facebook and in the tradition of that anti-hillary group called Citizens United Not Timid[ C.U.N.T.??]; an anti-palin group called Thwart the Wasilla Alaska Twat; or simply T.W.A.T. this after reading in an lesbian/gay magazine about what an extremist, anti-everything not seen as " christian" and " wholesome"; yet CORRUPT!; BITCH sarah palin really is! honestly, I could not think of a woman better suited for that degrading to women word!

Philly Fans Can Do Whatever the Hell They Want

Palin doesn't think people from cities in the lower 48 are real Americans. Philly Flyers fans may be of a different opinion.

Friday, October 10, 2008 05:00 PM

This is not a good idea

After 8+ years of Republicans winning elections largely by whipping up fear--over terrorists, feminists, boys kissing, people hugging trees, etc.--the electorate actually has something to fear--spending their golden years sleeping in a cardboard box under the freeway. A pretty sizable proportion of the electorate is now looking to Obama for hope and encouragement. They have no stomach anymore for mud-slinging. IMHO, this "Puck you Palin" campaign will play right into the hands of the McCain/Palin campaign. BTW, when I clicked on that site, there was a huge McCain/Palin banner running across the top of the page. What was that all about?

Friday, October 10, 2008 06:20 PM

@kimbah

You've obviously never been to a Flyers game.

If Palin were to yell something like that, the fans would take her up on it. And show her their own, just to be fair.

+1 Mr. Bass Man

There is hitting back hard and then there is being stupid and juvenile. Aside from being funny, I see no upside to this.

Friday, October 10, 2008 10:16 PM

take it from a philly fan

she is going to get booed into oblivion. 90% of this city went for kerry. plus we tend to hate any sort of grandstanding by celebrities unless they are locally grown.

PS: ANYONE who drops a foul ball at a phillies game gets booed. anyone who catches them get cheered. it's all in good fun. the santa incident happened 40 years ago... let it go (and look up what really happened some time).

philly fans love our teams, and we're vocal. we let them know it when we're pleased or unhappy. trust me, palin is never going to come back to this city after this game.
