Revving up!

Gentlemen!

Start your (Swiftboat) engines!

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:18 AM

So?

If we only elected people we no kooky family members we'd never elect President. How do the actions of family he didn't grow up with or know most of his life have to do with Obama's potential presidency?

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:21 AM

Corsi was invited by Xtian missionaries...

...to scribble this fantastic drivel? How low can a missinary go, and really do I want to know?

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:25 AM

Now can we talk about Cindy McCain stealing pills from a charity to feed her addiction?

Wait a minute -- the last time I checked, the families of the candidates were off-limits. Have we flip-flopped on that position, too?

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:26 AM

Oh goody!

Let's all start digging up shit about John McCain's family ... or better yet, Cindy McCain's family. How would being the heir of a fortune partly based on criminal behavior affect her husband's presidency? Inquiring minds want to know!

Or, you know, not.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:27 AM

Well At Least

Barack doesn't have a teen daughter who got knocked up by a redneck loser!

Seriously, this Corsi guy is a complete sob, and this clearly demonstrates how unprofessional and dogmatic conservative "journalists" are. Fair and Balanced my ass!

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:27 AM

They're reaching here

They are going after a half brother he hardly knows in a third world country? That's a stretch even for the Republican attack machine. I seem to remember a President Bush with a niece who ended up in court for drug use. I don't recall these same individuals trying to pin that on him and that was in Florida!

When you come from large extended families without money, yeah, some are not going to turn out well. (Full disclosure: I have 51 first cousins and some live in 3rd world circumstances on the reservation).

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:28 AM

Here's hoping that Corsi is taken on a safari

and used as hippo-bait.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:31 AM

I don't know how many wives Mr. Sayid Obama had

But I bet it's not nearly as many as the number of Neil Bush's "girlfriends"! Maybe Mr. Corsi could go on an extended tour of Asian cities to deliver checks to them, too!

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:37 AM

If this is the best the whackjobs can do...

...then we have nothing to worry about.

This dog won't hunt, except (of course) among those who'd never vote for Obama in the first place.

Move on, nothing to see here.

Instead, let's all talk about fellow whackjob Pat Robertson going off his meds. Again. Now he's predicting Israel will attack Iran between Nov. 4 and the end of the year -- all in fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. Again.

*sigh* Again.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:39 AM

Idiot

He is such an idiot.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:49 AM

Don't Besmirch My Country

I'm Kenyan, and Mr. Corsi is lucky that we're too welcoming (or not careful enough) to deny him a visa. Get the hell out of my country, before we kick you out.

Rigorous Reporting

Speaking of rigorous reporting folks, WHY is this "item" a lead story on Salon at the moment?

Thursday, October 2, 2008 07:56 AM

If I had a brother

that I had grown up with, and who was was in a bad way, partially due to his own choices, I would feel obligated to help him again and again until he proved himself beyond help. If I had a half-brother that I had grown up with ... same thing. If I had a half-brother halfway around the world that I had met twice, I would feel less obligated. Probably everyone reading Salon (or Worldnut Daily, for that matter) worries about family first and extended family second.

Corsi is a garden slug. The Republicans are desperate now.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:01 AM

Thank you, kantai!

Well spoken for us all!

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:05 AM

That's good news

Corsi may play with the kool-aid drinkers, but he's just going to turn off serious people sitting on the fence, wondering who to vote for.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:08 AM

Let's put together $10,000 and visit Corsi's past!

Maybe we can pay someone to tell us about Corsi's large collection of child porn!

Is Corsi really Jonah Goldberg's father?

Did Corsi really get ripped off by Polish Mobsters in 1995 to the tune of 1.2 million dollars? Did he get blackmailed due to his sexual activities while visiting a Polish orphanage?

We really need to get some money together to investigate these allegations!

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:11 AM

Religion baiting?

I never heard that Odinga or his supporters were Muslim. This seems to me to be misinformation, and the likely motivation behind it disturbs me.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:20 AM

Hell, just release . . .

. . . McCain's full medical profile.

Let's all start digging up shit about John McCain's family ... or better yet, Cindy McCain's family. How would being the heir of a fortune partly based on criminal behavior affect her husband's presidency? Inquiring minds want to know! Or, you know, not. -- bearpaw1

WND is about as fringe as it gets. I'm not too worried about this as its appeal extends only to the 20% or so who would still vote for McCain if he grew horns, a tail and a forked tongue.

These are desperate measures by people so far removed from the seats of power that it really doesn't matter. Useful idiots yes but, again, reaching only the like-minded.

New Book On Corsi

I've already ordered my copy!

http://open.salon.com/content.php?cid=21223

Can't wait!

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:41 AM

Is this all there is?

Every four years Corsi, or some other nut just like him, will write a BS book alleging all manner of scurrilous charges? It would be pathetic if there wasn't so much money behind it.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:44 AM

One thing I'm sure Mr. Corsi will "forget" to report

is that George Obama resents like hell being treated like a pitiful charity case. He says he has a fairly normal and satisfactory life. Okay so he lives in a traditional type of house rather than a luxury condo, but he doesn't like to hear people call it a "hut." And if he only earns $12 a year, that's because Kenya has a barter economy, rather than cash. And he does NOT want to be used as a political weapon against his brother.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:55 AM

wysiwyg

I'm in.

Heck, I was ready to donate to a Maureen Dowd fact-finding mission in 2000, so this is a no-brainer.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 08:58 AM

Corsi had to go to Africa, because all the hotel rooms in Alaska were already booked by oppo-researchers from the DNC, the NYT, the New Yorker, the Nation and Salon.

Right?

Thursday, October 2, 2008 09:06 AM

Why'd he go?

He could have just but a Kenya byline on the stories, and written the stories from the comfort of his living room.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 09:09 AM

Of course, the half-brother isn't a candidate...

Right, Elephantman?

Thursday, October 2, 2008 09:12 AM

And the DNC, NYT, etc aren't going to Kenya under the umbrella of a supposed religious "mission"...

are they, elephantman?

Thursday, October 2, 2008 09:15 AM

You ignored the truly egregious elements in this item

Odinga's base of support Muslim? Odinga lost the election? Excuse me, but the premise of this entire dispatch is factually incorrect. Shaller's point is fine as far as it goes but it's parochial. The larger point he should have made is how glibly this guy Corsi exploits American ignorance about foreign affairs (esp. African affairs) to construct his own self-serving fantasy.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 09:18 AM

A check? A bloody check?

Corsi is going to hand someone in Kenya a check for $1000? Pray tell, what is the gentleman supposed to do with a check drawn on a US bank - find some tobacco and use it as rolling paper?

I run a project with sub-contractors in a dozen African countries, including Kenya. Let me tell you, if I could just send checks, my life would be a whole lot less complicated. There are only two realistic ways to transfer money between the US and Kenya, my friends. One is a bank wire transfer. The other is to carry cash.

But if you bring a US check to a foreign country, you are going to be laughed at by every bank teller you meet. Either Corsi is completely clueless, or he has no intention of actually parting with the thousand bucks. How cruel to dangle so much money in the face of a poor man. What a cheap, cheapskate political stunt.

Not to mention that the airfare from the US is at least $2000, and that's for economy class. Add in the Nairobi Hilton and meals in some swank downtown restaurants, and Corsi will be tossing multiples more money on his own creature comforts than he will be attempting to deliver to the victim of his vampire attack.
