Reid: McCain "only hurt the process"

Prominent Democrats say McCain contributed little during a White House meeting and showed no desire to participate in negotiations Thursday night.

The letters thread is now closed.

Harry Reid For the Win

Harry Reid is my hero lately, with some notable quotables.

Consider the source

Harry Reid is the mortal enemy of McCain and the Republicans. Why should we trust his interpretation of events? Nonsense. What killed the deal was diversion of money to ACORN and Tabla Raza, more Democratic earmarks and sponsored patronage. This is not the time for party patronage or partisanship, yet the Democrats can't stop themselves. This is the biggest dereliction of duty of politicians ever.

As for Sen Dodd, who received $165,000 from Fannie and Freddie, while he chaired the Senate Banking Committee that regulated the US banks that are now failing because of his incompetence and greed, who cares what he thinks. He should be indicted and sent to jail. At the best he is just incompetent, at worst, he is a criminal, like Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, and Jamie Gorelick, all Democratic operatives who mismanaged Fannie and Freddie and stole millions from their coffers. Lucy, you got some 'splaining to do

Rachel Maddow pointed out last night that three different times in history a crisis coincided with a presidential election campaign and debate. However the candidates did not suspend their campaigns nor postpone even one debate. So that brings into question McCain's motives especially when his words and deeds are entirely different things.

After 5 to 7 days into this "crisis" -- although nothing changed except the polling numbers -- McCain suddenly announced the suspension of his campaign. But he needs to explain what suspending a campaign entails because by all indications a campaign with ads still running, campaign offices open, surrogates hitting cable news shows to bash Obama, are evidence that McCain has no intention of suspending his campaign.

Claiming his presence was urgently needed in Washington, but did not leave NY until the next day inarguably McCain's definition of urgent differs from most people's.

Once back in Washington, with negotiations on the verge of success, McCain met with his colleagues, shortly thereafter they fell apart. When meetings were reconvened later McCain was nowhere to be found. Evidently his presence was not as crucial as he thought.

Did McCain deliberately throw a monkey wrench into the mix? If so what possible motivation would lead him to do so: a) Get republicans on board, he becomes the "saviour" or b) Join his republican cohorts in opposition to Bush enforces the maverick "image." He needs to explicitly tell us how he got the republicans on-board if that was the case or if the latter, explain in detail what was unacceptable and why and in detail how he will solve this crisis.

On a daily basis we hear McCain bragging ad naseum he "puts country first," however, the facts do not support that. Words matter if and only if the deed follows.

At such a crucial time when Americans need to hear both his and Obama's vision for America McCain appears more concerned with getting votes, but less concerned about fixing the dire situation millions of people are living.

Unless McCain can prove otherwise it is reasonable to assume his political ambitions come first; "country first" is nothing more than an empty campaign slogan. Saying something, no matter how many times, does not make it so; Actions do. So far McCain's actions and words are mismatched.

What Democrats should insist on in exchange for supporting the Bailout

Now is the time to ask for a lot. If the Republicans are allowed to implement a welfare program for those making 6 figure incomes, asking for bankruptcy judges to negotiate mortages should only be the beginning.

Ask for expanding Medicare to cover the uninsured, ask for a WPA/Americorps program to mop up unemployment. Ask for a no privatization pledge for social security, which has a substantial surplus. Ask for expanded educational and infrasture improvements.

If we have $700 billion for a bailout and who knows how much for Iraq/Afghanistan, we certainly can afford to take care of ourselves.

Who cares?

Stop the meetings, stop the negotiations.

ON TO THE DEBATE!!

Kimbah

Clearly the pressure on your brain from being far up your own ass has taken a toll.

@Independence 2008

Oh, check another GOP talking point off your list.

Puh. Leez.

While I am less than thrilled that Congress hasn't successfully stood up to Bush's mafia tactics, I respectfully remind you that Congress has been in Republican control for 6 years, and the Republican Executive Branch (with the cooperation of an ever-right-leaning Supreme Court) has shredded the checks and balances that made congress an independently functioning branch of government.

Republican, blame thyself!

Kimbah, do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Seriously, dude. Take it easy. You'll live longer.

Thursday, September 25, 2008 06:48 PM

Hmm

Im pretty sure that Harry Reid 'hurts the process.' Am I the only one who is sick of the do-nothing Democrat-led Congress?

Thursday, September 25, 2008 06:33 PM

Hey kimbah

Ever hear of a paragraph?

Not even a professional troll can get three sentences into that jumble.

You can scribble nonsense all day long for all I care. At least make it freaking legible you mongoloid.

P.S. paragraphs are those little breaks you see in other peoples letters, they separate thoughts.

Unlike your brain where you must have about ten different voices talking at once. Pick up some Ritalin next time out. You might feel better.

Isn't it funny...

Isn't it funny that you leftist lunatics have denounced everything Bush for the past 8 years yet his $7 billion plan makes PERFECT sense to you now ? So suddenly, to all of your leadership Reid, Polsie, Dodd et al. Bush has it right this time? You're all nuts. Let me 'splain this to you as simply as I can: YOUR BELOVED BILL CLINTON ALONG WITH ROBERT RUBIN, JANET RHINO, CHRIS DODD,BARNEY-STEP -INTO-mY- GAY-BROTHEL,FRANKE, CHUCK SCHUMER, ALL CREATED THIS MESS IN THE '90s. They were pandering for the votes of black and hispanics who couldn't afford homes. They had no business having a home unless they did what the rest of us do--that is save, work and be personally accountable for the note due. Those are the rules--that is until your fuck'n liberal panderers manipulated the banking system policy of risk aversion to be risk prostitutes. That facts are clear-the Democrats' hand in this mess is legendary. This isn't a failure of our beloved freemarket system-this is a failure of our government OVERSTEPPING for political gain to impart social engineering on the rest of us. That's where it all started. Flash forward to more current events and you'll find the following: Barack Hussain Oblah-blah has Frank Reins and Jim Johnson(both Frannie and Freddie pigs who literally made 100s of millions on the fraud that they perpetrated on the American markets sit on his election advisory boards. Plus I heard your stupid empty suit Omabam say tonight with his bleached white teeth, that this is a matter of "lack of oversight" FUCK NOOO! There is plenty of oversight the problem is that when Chris Dodd and Barack Obama are the guardians of oversight and are #1 and#2 in campaign donations from Frannie and Freddie, the very entities they are responsible for watching-then you got the fox in charge of the chicken coop. In case you hadn't noticed I'm ROYALLLLLY pissed off at the brazen AUDACITY of these people telling us to cough up the 700 billion-1 trillion to the very people who started and perpetuated the problem. Fuck U!!! and F Them!!!! Finally, let me say this loud and clear--your dunce says, in his prissy liberal elite way, that he can do two things at once--yeah he can get a blow job from Larry Sinclair and such on a crack pipe all at the same time. No wonder Michelle is so bitter--she knows her man isn't home tucking the kids in-he's out there multi-tasking.
