is a lofty goal you should aim for...
I love John Stewart, but Beretta makes some of the finest shotguns in the world (Biden referred to an Over and Under, a shotgun):

not perfect? I'd say Joe Biden has proven himself not to be presidential material for at least the past 20 years in every primary the Democrats have run. My last great hope for Obama is that this "constitutioaal scholar" plans to return the vice presidency to the "warm bucket of piss" level of power and very soon Biden will be reduced to attending foreign funerals and standing in front of the flag in the senate chamber.
Seriously, the less we hear about him the better, and if it turns out that he is less powerful as VP than senator, more the better.
The guy is a sleezy son of a car salesman, in the pockets of the banking industry (just what we need right now), avid drug warrior, and generally poor speaker.
Maybe Dick Cheney has a vacant "undisclosed location"?
Come on Joe, FDR went on television after the stock market crashed? Sad.
Two unready birds killed with one stone.

Joe Biden can step in it, every now and then. That was one of the crtiticisms I heard and read when he was selected as VP. It should be great fodder for the Press. The problem is, if the one side is keeping the VP candidate incommunicado, the other side's VP candidate gets more of a free pass. That's at least how it appears.
Even if it's not your intention, you're strongly giving the impression in this post that you feel that Biden is just as dumb and incompetent as Palin. Come on. (And we'll take out the Beretta comment, which another poster has already proven correct.) Biden said one ridiculously historically incorrect thing on the campaign trail amongst a thirty year career in which he has proven his knowledge and expertise in many different areas time and again (remember how all the other candidates pretty much deferred to him on foreign policy issues during the primary debates?) Palin has yet to say one COHERENT thing (much less half-way intelligent) in any of the cringe-inducing interviews she's given so far. I'm all for taking the piss out of Democrata as well as Republicans, but make sure you maintain some REAL perspective on these two VP candidates here.
It's not that I'm offended by any criticism of Democrats, but I know that Biden is smart, he has experience, and he knows what he's talking about. To me, his mistakes about Roosevelt appearing on television are just minor mistakes. He wasn't trying to show off knowledge he doesn't have (like Palin). He just made some silly mistakes.
It felt like Stewart was really trying to grab at anything he could to put Biden in the spotlight, and it just didn't work.
Who said Biden was perfect? Who said we're asking for perfection in our candidates?
Biden is smart, authoritative, balanced, knowledgeable, intelligent.
Sara Palin is none of those things. Her interview with Katie Couric shows her up as unprepared, ignorant, utterly lacking in insight, and a complete tyro.
There is no comparison between any Biden gaffe and her incompetence, so don't even try to pretend there is, Alex. We don't need fake "perspective" that reads like a GOP spin point.
I was going to say much the same thing but you said it perfectly.
Come on, Alex, don't fall into the trap of appearing "balanced" by straining to draw false parallels, and don't think we're going to let you get away with it. We're not the Faux News audience.
But he doesn't try to package himself to be perfect, which is one of the reasons why I think Delawarians? Delawegians? people in Delaware keep reelecting him. And he really is one of the most knowledgeable senators we have regarding foreign affairs, far more knowledgeable than John McCain, whose grasp of diplomacy seems to end when it doesn't wear a military uniform.
I hope, between now and the election, Joe's gaffes continue to be harmless, but beyond that point, I'm starting to think the media and the public are willing to be entertained by the usual gaffe gotchas, but are starting to think this election is way too serious to be decided on such distractions. On that, they would be right.
HARTFORD, Conn. - Connecticut Democrats, angry that Sen. Joe Lieberman is campaigning for the Republican presidential candidate and criticizing his own party's nominee, agreed Wednesday to circulate a resolution to censure the veteran politician but won't consider acting on it until after Election Day.
The state party's central committee Wednesday agreed to send copies of the resolution to every Democratic town committee in the state. The resolution condemns Lieberman for speaking at the Republicans' convention and backing John McCain.

It's about having knowledge and experience outside your state.
Hey, Alex, what planet are you on?
The name of the blog that you inherited from Tim Grieve, just in case you've forgotten, is WAR ROOM. It's not BE NICE TO EVERYONE ROOM, or BE FAIR & BALANCED ROOM.
It's a war that's being fought out there, for the heart and soul of this country. The Republicans have more than enough apologists---they really don't need you to help their cause.
Anyone out there know any way to bring back Tim Grieve???
Jesus Christ! Could you try to keep up? You posted this at 11:40 EDT. It is now 2 PM EDT. It looks like a tentative deal is reached on the economy nightmare. McCain's people are out in full force giving him entire credit for that by simply "arriving" in DC. Where are you? Did you fall asleep? Have your fingers frozen and you can't type? Why are you posting crap about Comedy Central?
Joan - please, please, please - can we get someone to replace Alex? You know, someone who actually works for a living?
