That's like Dennis Rodman complaining that his opponents are playing too rough.
complaining about words being "taken out of context"....
That's not dishonest....
It's karmic
Turn-about is fair play, isn't it?
i'm glad to see the obama campaign is finally willing to dirty its hands a little bit. out of context? everything rush limbaugh says is out of context.
While I don't agree, in principle, with taking words that were used in parody or sarcasm out of context and using them against the speaker, in this case I'll make an exception. Obama's campaign should apologize for this as soon as Rush and the McCain campaign apologize for all the times they took Obama's remarks about himself out of context in trying to brand him as "The One" or "The Messiah".
I'm not gonna hold my breath for that.
Even Rush Limbaugh believes "Mr. Obama and his advisers know exactly what they are doing."
I don't know the full context of what Limbaugh said, but I do know that a common tactic among schoolyard bullies is to harass a victim and, if called on it, claim it was a joke. What? Don't you have a sense of humor? So if Limbaugh was saying racist things in the context of a joke, I suspect that this was merely to provide (somewhat) plausible deniability.
Rush is being unfairly attacked! I'm sorry, even his fans have to see the irony / hypocrisy in that.
McCain and missing POW's:

... is running for the apron stings of his right wing sugar mommy the WSUrinal because that big, bad Democrat gave him a small taste of his own medicine.
Do you think he popped some pills over this... he has a bad back you know.
Too funny
Rush can dish it out, but he can't take it.
This is his thing. He says outrageously racist and sexist things, and links them to something someone else said, and then says his comments were taken out of context. I can see why he is so popular among angry white men--he allows them to live their racist dreams vicariously through him, of saying the racist things they wish they couls say in mixed company and get away with. The good thing is that he has zero credibility in the main stream. Which makes you wonder why the WSJ is printing his stuff to begin with.
for making racist comments stereotyping the abilities of black quarterbacks?
...Alex can spot a blatantly dishonest ad even if it is put out by Obama.
Also good to know Salon readers overall support dishonest race baiting. Only if it helps your side of course.
It really chaps my ass when racist hate talkers accuse their opponents of playing the race card. Its a rhetorical trick which should confuse no one. All's fair against Rush and his gaggle.
and he'd better shut up or he'll find himself stopped at the border the next time he tries to skip to Latin America for a little drug/nookie run.
I also suggest that the local Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings set up all night vigils around Rush's house - I'm sure his neighborhood could use a little "color".
I see, so because Limbaugh is such a fine political lampoonist, an artist really (think, Steven Colbert and Pat Paulson), he's entitled to say things like "stupid Mexicans" and "shut up/go home" with abandon and fancy himself a progressive expert on race relations in this country?
I have no problem with anyone using (or even misconstruing) his words against him, although I'll officially apologize when the Republicans apologize for the Obama sex education commercial, all the lies about Sarah Palin's record.
Someone please rotate the spit a half-turn.
Also stoke the fire, keep the heat up.
I happened to hear the piece on Limbaugh's show the other day. You could make the case that the entire piece was parody, but since he was using Mexican laws regarding "illegal" immigration policies as a weapon against U.S. policies it would be fair to say that "shut up or get out" etc. was aimed at illegals.
Rush "Obama The Magic Negro" Limbaugh was really victimized this time wasn't he?
I suppose when Limbaugh misrepresents what someone said or makes disparaging racial remarks he's just being "entertaining" so it doesn't count. It certainly isn't considered important (or unusual) enough to generate press when he does it.
Although it nauseates me that the McCain campaign engages in blatantly deceptive negative ads, it nauseates me even more that they work on a thoughtless and intelletually lazy public who prefers the National Enquirer to the New York Times.
Obama needs to fight back the way John Kerry didn't. If that involves wallowing in the mud...so be it. Let's start putting a little lipstick on some pigs for figuratively real and see if the public will serve up the pork at their next Tupperware party.
Sling it, Barack. It's sadly what has to be done. It's the nation we have become. Get in the game and play by their own rules. Democrats never seem to learn that nice guys really do finish last, and taking the high road will leave the rest of us drowning in the flood of Republican excess, extremism and mismanagement.
Sure, Obama took your words out of context, as you have done throughout your career to distort the positions of others. Did he play on racial resentment? Well, he certainly wants Hispanic voters to understand just how cynically Republicans are willing to use them as political scapegoats, and you have been in the forefront of that. But let's not hear a lot of whining from someone who recently called Obama a "little black man-child" and claimed that he owes his nomination to affirmative action.
Limbaugh reminds me of the schoolyard bully who bloodies someone's nose and then complains to the Principal because the kid he hit got blood on his shirt. "Barack the Magic Negro?" Give me a frickin' break!! Right-wing hypocrisy has gone from simply maddening to farce. I just hope and pray that the American people are smart enough (this time) to see through the fusillade of feces (although we did elect G.W. Bush TWICE).
