that he said this immediately after the choice was announced..

But of course, seeing that Salon is now all Palin all the time, it is understandable that the once proud war room is now in repeats.
Alex, thanks for the information. Do you have any analysis?
I don't care what Karl Rove says and it certainly won't affect my or my cohorts' decision on 11/4. And look at today's polls. Obama is back where he was before the conventions with a 2 point lead. Palin-mania does not help McCain if the issue is, as it should be, the economy. How come no-one is bringing up McCain's little financial problem in the S&L crisis?
Of course it was political. It is politics.
How effing stupid are you Alex?
In other late breaking news - tomorrow morning the SUN SHALL RISE IN THE EAST!!!

PALINMANIA!
Salon- the Mighty Queen of the Tabloids!
I appreciate the report, Mr. Koppelman, but at the same time a major part of me is disgusted that Mr. Rove is regularly looked to for his opinion. And worse yet, more and more those reporting on Rove's opinions report in such a way as to take Rove as genuine, or at his word, when in actuality he is still a biased political operative who is working for the McCain campaign, or at least is advising it. So I'm wondering, why is this most terrible Mr. Rove being listened to, being looked to and being believed?
That Rove thinks that political considerations went into the selection of the VP is NOT news.
Rove doesn't do or say ANYTHING without a reason. And those reasons are NEVER accuracy or honesty. Everything out of this incredibly destructive, anti democracy slime ball is calculated to gain power for first, himself, and secondly, whichever screaming far right Republican operative he's on the payroll of. I wouldn't trust HIS assertion of the sun rising in the east.
It smacks of, "When we disagree with him, he's history's greatest monster; when we agree with him, he DOES have a good point, doesn't he?"
Seems like something children do.
If Rove makes an assertion that the sun rising in the east, it is because he wants you to be looking to the west.
How about something on McCain's visit to the auto plant yesterday where people were shouting "Obama 08" over and over as he was leaving the venue.
Somebody else told me that there was a guy holding a sign that said something to the effect of union members for McCain who turned out to be a plant.
The man knows his stuff.
He also knows that John McCain hates him, and if he's going to have a career after McCain, he needs to expand his image, appeal, and stature in the political community.
He's looking to be the next James Carvil (who was in his own way the previous Karl Rove) and make his bones going on talk shows criticising the political moves of politicians in both parties.
God Bless you Karl Rove, and God Speed to your next career as a talking head. Talking heads are more visible but have very little influence over policy, and for that I would put up with seeing your giant baby head on sunday talk shows from now till the next millenium.
That Rove has said this, or just reiterated it after the balloons of Palinpalooza have shriveled, is a good thing for those of us on the side of moose. The Dark Lord is distancing himself from the ticket. In questioning the choice, he's questioning the pair's chances in November. He wants a job come 2009, and if he's setting himself up as an "independent observer" now, it's because he thinks there won't be as big a role for a Republican lickspittle in a couple of months.
Rove's clear implication (vis calling Sen Obama's Sen Biden choice purely political) is on its face preposterous.
Biden can't help govern?
There is any substantive equivalence to be drawn between (a) Sen Biden and Gov Palin, or (b) the mature and responsible thought and deliberation involved in Sen Obama's choice of Sen Biden versus the utter absence thereof in Sen McC's choice of Palin?
Horsefeathers!
I happened across classic Rove smears from 2000 against McCain today, and I just thought somepeople might appreciate the things said about the man by his new best friends some eight years ago.

I don't know if the better phrase to describe this blast from the past is:
Politics Makes Strange Bed Fellows
or
I'm learning Chineese say's Dr. Von Braun.
As others said he is a manipulative slimeball who helped create this political mess of culture war divisiveness. Recently he said that even McCain's ads are over the top and so called pundits were lauding him for his honesty ... don't you all realize Rove probably wrote those ads, and is now posturing himself as thinking they are "over the top," while he probably has written even more slimy, racist ads for the last days of the campaign. Just stop reporting on him.
