Rift between Bush administration and congressional GOP?

House Minority Leader John Boehner is upset because, he says, the administration "refused" to have a representative brief House Republicans on the economy.

The letters thread is now closed.

BOEHNER IS BONE-HEADED!

"I and all of my colleagues are concerned about the lack of information and the lack of consultation that has occurred," Boehner said.

AHAHAHAHHAAHHAAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA..HA...HA...HA OH PLEASE, STOP...HA HA HA...PLEASE I MEAN IT...STOP...

NOW, Boner is "concerned about the lack of information" coming from the Bush Administration?

Oh, my god. It just keeps coming and coming. Do these guys even stop to think how absolutely stupid they sound? Is there anyone around them to say, "Hey, that comment won't hunt. Better try another one."

Memo to Mr. Bohner

Dear Mr. Boehner,

As it is clear, you don't know what is going on in the economy, let me clue you in: It is tanking. It is tanking because you and your party for years have promoted the big lie (one of many) that deregulating the banks and financial institutions will lead to prosperity. Uh... well.. as usual, you were wrong. It led to greed and avarice that has brought us to our knees economically.

The president will, as he always does, do everything he can to raise the amount of debt owed by the federal government. He will take the prudent steps to save the economy, and then he will push to buy all the bad debt that is frankly the problem of rich people and not ours. (of course, that is why he will propose such a program... as it helps his friends).

I am hoping the American people are waking up to the ways of your Lie, Cheat and Steal party... so keep up the lip flapping... as you may soon be unemployed.

Rift? Ha!

When the White House sends out its orders as to how to vote, Congressional Republicans will dutifully obey and vote exactly as directed. Just as they virtually always do.

This "rift" is just political smoke blowing for the sake of the November elections. The media is supposed to repeat this story for American voters as though it were true, allowing Republicans to run as "Mavericks" this fall. Given the sheepish nature of America's reporting establishment, it will work perfectly.

After the elections they will fall back in line again. Republicans always do.

When Republicans whine........

When Republicans whine it's time to turn them over to the Democrats. Bush was just trying to get his hands on some of these:

@ sganjose

Bush has been working hard on economic turmoil since he was selected POTUS by the Supreme Court.

But we need someone to try to END the turmoil, not make it WORSE!

Has anyone checked with Dubya to see if he's aware of that?

I'm afraid he might be having a misunderestimation which will make his strategeries less effective.

Boo freakin hoo . . .

now this major Bush apologista knows the Democrats pain. Gosh, it must be hard to wake up one day and realize that everything the other party has been saying about your party is true. Let's hope they all wake up today and impeach Bush/Cheney. Yeah, right.

Bush is busy planning his response

Time to arm the bombs and "liberate" Wall Street.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 11:26 AM

I'm shocked that Boehner still believes Bush goes to work every day

Bush checked out a year ago. The only reason he gave that idiot speech today is because he had nothing else to do. Bush didn't refuse to hold a briefing. He's not in the office anymore and doesn't care. Now watch this drive. Anyway what does Boehner imagine Maximus Monkey Bush would say? "Let's cut taxes on billionaires, bail them out and then condemn the Democrats for suggesting the same thing". Anyone got any blow?".

Game

It's a big ol' game of "hot potato"...no one wants to get left holding it when the music stops, and it's winding down pretty quickly.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 11:03 AM

Next they will say

They aren't republicans... and only George BUsh caused this problems and the dems cause they've been in control for all of 2 years, so this is all their fault, if only the dem's did their job.....

Because Republicans TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, they like to place blame but never ever take responsibility... It is like they are all two years old.

I didn't do it! It was someone else!

Welcome, Representative Boehner ...

"I and all of my colleagues are concerned about the lack of information and the lack of consultation that has occurred," Boehner said.

Welcome to the friggin' club.

You Know

It would be nice occasionally to hear that kind of analysis coming from Alex, and not just in the Letters.

I'm just sayin'.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:57 AM

THis seems like an obvious stunt to make Republicans look like outsiders

And to paint Bush as aligned with Democratic interests.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:51 AM

BALONEY

They are distancing themselves from Bush for pure political posturing.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:51 AM

A Little Late in the Day

So Boehner "and all of my colleagues are concerned about the lack of information and the lack of consultation that has occurred." Given Congressional rubber-stamping over FISA and Iraq war funding, to cite but two examples, what other response could guys like Boehner expect? He and his colleagues long ago ceded their power and authority to the executive branch.

Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:48 AM

Bush says he's working hard on economic turmoil

Say it with me: "Being president's hard work. It's hard!"

Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:47 AM

What a trip!

After years of all in the family grift, these theivin' old dudes have hit up on a "rift."

Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:45 AM

@ thorin01

I agree. The R's see the problems on the horizon and want to say that they stood in opposition to Bush.

Kind of like McCain railing about Cox and "greed" and the necessity of more regulations and stricter enforcement...as of late Tuesday, if the market rebounds...never mind, then McCain will go back to saying what wall street really needs are tax cuts and less regulation.

A Real Rift or Spin?

Congressional Republicans are terrified of the November election. Saddled with a collapsing economcy, a President with approval ratings in the toilet and a record of obstruction ever since Dems got in power, they are looking at potentially catastraphic losses this year.

I suspect many members are looking for any excuse to bad mouth Bush or somehow distance themselves from the last eight years. Look at Gordon Smith in Oregon, he spends half his campaign talking about how great it is to work with Barak Obama. If one did not know better listening to his ads you would think he was a Democrat.

So I suspect will being seeing more 'controversies' like this one over the next couple of months. A few artificial arguments between Congressional Republicans and the White House. Creating a 'rift' that does not really exist but members need to have a chance at reelection.
